In the new era, we did see the Tenth Doctor in the Ninth's outfit, the Eleventh in the Tenth's outfit, the Twelfth in the Eleventh's outfit and the Thirteenth in the Twelfth's outfit. I was disappointed that the last regeneration included the new outfit regenerating instead of having David Tennent appearing in Jodie's outfit, but such is life. Previously in the classic era, we also saw the Fourth in the Third's outfit, the Fifth in the Fourth's (though it was not his iconic wardrobe by that point) and the Sixth's in the Fifth's. Can't remember any other transitions, but I am probably belaboring the point. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I really like the new outfit for the 15th doctor. It's simple and understated when it could have easily been over the top and too much. I think it represents a lot of the past doctors and also shows that the costume is for the character of the doctor, so it does have to be practical to a certain extent. There are some reasons for a bright costume with no light colours on a person with a darker skin tone, a white or light blue or yellow shirt would make us more difficult to light their faces properly without the lighter colour becoming very dominant. The Orange t and the brown checked suit are a great combination of choices by both the costume designer and the lighting designer. Remember all Film and TV are doing is manipulating light. Having said that, this is a great wardrobe combination. I reckon he’s a good enough actor to carry this costume in character really well. I’m greatly looking forward to this series both dramatically and technically. Hugh, retired TV Director.

I want Britbox to be accessible to me too! I'm in Italy! Why can't I see classic Doctor Who? Anyway, I believe that Billie Piper's answer was all because of her work with Big Finish. She didn't know how easy and quick audio work was compared to filming before working in audio Doctor Who with Big Finish. Now she knows, so "she doesn't want to work much"...
And again, do you know I believe I know where does the celery idea came from? There is a story from The Avengers, titled Two is a Crowd, where a John Steed doppleganger makes an entrance with a carnation on his lapel. But being just a doppleganger, and not remotely as stylish as the original, he wears his carnation wrappend in tinfoil and with some leaves on it. A taylor then comes up and goes: "Look at you! You might as well wear a stick of celery!" And that seemed like a good idea at the time...

I actually liked 15th outfit. It reminds me of the 12th and his time he mixed a fancy jacket and high boots and a worn-out wool hoodie, adding non-formal element to his appearance and pointing at his bit of chaotic nature of a Time Lord. Ncuti’s outfit is great for the same reason - modest on the outside, bright and passionate on the inside.

I have a feeling Christopher eccleston's doctor was in dark clothing because he was just getting off of the time Wars and was still a little shell shocked and depressed over what happened. PS to me for some reason and don't ask why cuz I don't really know I think the new doctor needs a question mark pin or something just something small not too Gotti that just says he's the doctor. Be safe &GB4N

  • @triplejazzmusicisall1883

Gee I feel old listening to these two youthful kids. K9 and Company - not really a fan favourite especially the incredibly 1980's opening tites and music which are woeful. Of course there is an advantage to being old in that you saw the original series when the special effects were more than satisfactory for a child.
The point Ellie raises about honest reviews. After all television just like any other entertainment form can be art and art should always be open to honest commentary and disagreement among individuals. Sean is right, of course we can't all agree and DW shouldn't aim to do so.
As for the Doctor's costume I think it suits the actor's quirky grandeur. One thing that I am a bit dubious about is the continual pattern of always having a late tee/young adult female. When Donna and Wilf came along it was such a lovely change. If the Doctor was an Earthling most would find this continual travelling with young women around with him a bit on the dodgy side.

The more I look back at it I have a hard time differentiating whether it’s him I don’t like or him because of how Clara is written. I actually really liked him with Bill but Clara is my least favorite companion and I feel like she made him so codependent. Like she was more in charge than him. I know that’s the writers fault (looking at you Moffat) but it’s so bad I have a hard time watching her in anything else. But yesterday I watched Bernard Cribbins as Companion Tom Campbell to Peter Cushings Dr, in Daleks: invasion Earth 2150. on Legend channel. It was delightful to see. But I wish they would create a link as he has been two such prominent characters and the Dr doesn’t believe in coincidences.

Technically he's not the 15th Doctor, he's the 14th. David Tennant is still the 10th Doctor for the same reason that he's not the 11th Doctor after the Meta Crisis event. By no count what so ever would David Tennant ever be 14 because if you count the Meta Crisis regeneration David Tennant is 10, 11, and 15. Matt Smith is 12, Peter Capaldi is 13, Jodi Whittaker is 14, and this guy would then be 16. If you don't count Meta Crisis because he didn't change his face then you can not count him now because he's revisiting the same face again. So we still don't know who 15 is and won't know for another 3 seasons when they actually cast his replacement.

BUT going back to an old show runner, an old Doctor as a new Doctor, more end of the world stuff again and again, darker and darker stuff as RTD seemed to indicate that the Doc's speech in END OF THE WORLD was "WE" being naive to have written that, the awful on line leaked location work, rumors of the first season all being all on Earth, and a cliche female blond with a name starting with R, that awful trailer, and having Rose as a companion and then she's NOT? this is the worst for the future. BTW the Doctor SHOULD change costume and clothes weekly and even in one story....he's not a super hero, he's not a cartoon character; he should change clothes more often. Having a costume for merchandising is a poor reason to have a character not change clothes. Gosh, we are in trouble. I feel as if the show should END.

i’m not so keen on the idea that you’re trying to make the doctor be like the actor. The idea of playing a role if you become somebody or not. I look at it as the costume portraying what personality the actor is about to portray. The only real successful portrayal of the doctor by an actor by being what the actor was, was Tom Baker. Because Tom Baker had a very different way of thinking about the world they gave it that alien and yet humorous tinge. The next several that came close were of course Matt Smith and David Tennant. Of the new error that is. I guess what I’m saying is I’m hoping they aren’t but kissing the actor but making sure that the actor understands the role and does the best job at it. Honestly I don’t have enough information to know anything until we start seeing the show. So I’m holding off any personal opinion. Delivery is where it matters

What I, and I suppose many more are, a little baffled about is when 13 became 14 in that scene on Durdle Door. Why did the costume change along with the Doctor? After all, they just had the Master performing a forced regeneration and there was no costume change just like previous regenerations. There's something there that doesn't sit right.
