It was hilarious to hear Matt "chastise" Tim about how many listeners were leaving due to the banality of watching a song get made. Obviously, he was (semi) joking. But as a person who never was musically talented, I really enjoyed watching seemingly "average" folks -- of whom are essentially strangers -- come up with a legitimately good holiday-season song in a two-hour time period. Please, make this a yearly tradition! Although, part of me is a bit loathe to watch/listen, as the song has been stuck in my head for weeks! As much as I love Tim, his music isn't quite for me EXCEPT "In Glendale." That and "No Christmas" are genuine bangers. Adore the vocals, too!
@@uncletom356It is a fascinating study to interpret Tim’s music knowing what we know about him as Tim Heidecker the comedian in the role of Tim Heidecker. I generally like his music, and of course consider the entire Dekkar/DKR/D3/D4 arc to be something that really fills me up and triggers my everything. It is also interesting to me to hear the influences in Tim’s music. I hear a lot of Aimee Mann and Ween. And furthermore being a lifelong Deadhead who is two years younger than Tim, I am further confounded by the question of who the real Tim is when listening to his music because much of it is Americana Folk Rock. It’s a bit strange to be committed to that genre of music and hate the Grateful Dead as Tim professes to. Especially as an admitted Ween fan. At a certain point there aren’t that many degrees of separation. The man is a fascinating study. Happy Holidays!
@@illuminotmereloaded6896 Happy holidays back. But the reason this episode resonated so much was because I genuinely have no idea who any of the guests were. I barely knew Tim a of a year ago. His appearances on Sam Seder's show got me into Office Hours. Which then got me into On Cinema and the rest. I was never a Tim and Eric fan. It's just not for me. Everything else, though, it seems like he makes specifically for me -- despite the obvious fact he has no idea who I am. So, once I watched his "bad" stand-up special where he ended it with that anti-Trump song, I was hooked. "Only Takes a Maniac," "in Glendale" and "No Christmas" are on my playlist being flanked by, say, Bowie and Biggie -- or whomever.
I grew up as a hip-hop fan. I was a bit of a "bro" and semi-jock in college. It was all about partying brah! Now that I'm in my 30s, I just shy away from empty, meaningless songs. So, I've really tried to embrace types of music I would have NEVER listened -- let alone enjoyed -- a half- or full-decade ago.
On his, arguably, biggest podcast, when Odenkirk showed up, Bob emphasized how one must get out of their comfort zones to truly experience this brief period we're on this planet. And I find it to be such a true sentiment. Lastly, the joy of watching Heidecker is he's a smarter, more entertaining Forrest Gump: you never know what you're gonna get. I've always loved stand-up and sketch comedy, so I would have found Tim eventually. Just, man, it's so easy -- and usually enjoyable -- to go down the rabbit holes of Tim's career (arc). Take care.
@@uncletom356 What up, ‘bro’? I don’t know any of them either. The song is great. My mom even liked it. Yes, Only Takes A Maniac is a great song, speaking of Aimee Mann influence. I also thought Tim and Eric wasn’t for me, but I love most of it. Dark Days is another song that really resonated with me. I play it all the time. Cheers!

Dude, Christmas has nothing to do with what the Bible says. Ever heard of Germanic Paganism? That's where all of the Christmas crap comes from. Also the Catholic church embraces it because they love that trash. Nasty York Rite.
Plus, Kirk Cameron is a Hollywood puppet who denounces the actual Truth spoken of in the Bible. He was there to get people excited about these modern revivals and seminary theology and to get people obsessed with their false churches and pastors. Nothing he says bares any truth to reality. Makes me sick.

In parts of the country where the weather is gray, cold, and gloomy this time of year, Christmas brings a lot of people joy and brings families together. Hearing a bunch of arrested development hipster adults from Los Angeles attack Christmas is beyond lame. This song sucks.
You know what else brings a lot of people joy? Comedy, music, singing, people being silly. How long did it take you to come up with "arrested development hipster adults"? Or did you hear someone else say that, so now you say it because you think it sounds cool?
