  • Sit back with a nice cup of tea and watch a relaxing video of The Country Cottage Gardener pruning roses in a idyllic cottage garden. I'll be dead heading, cutting back and talking about the how and when to do things, as well as a mother nature chat.
Chris aka The Country Cottage Gardener based in Kent and been a self employed gardener for the last 10 years.

Cracking garden and really enjoyable task, my favorite is dead heading in the rain, lovely hearing the rain drops on the leaf, its such a under rated task, hope your enjoying the lovely sunshine 🌞👍

I always use hydration tablets in the water as water alone does not replenish the minerals and salts lost from sweat, eliminates the risk of cramp later in the day, good idea of keeping the bottle in water, as you say flavoured tea late in the afternoon does not quench the thirst does it 😂 i work primarily on larger properties for several hours per week, you really get chance to enjoy the job instead of getting in and out as fast as you can 👍

Your so right pal about enjoying the work with the time.
I've never seen hydration tablets so will definitely look into those 👍
      Thanks for watching 👍

What a stunning rose garden. Absolutely right about keeping hydrated, I got through about 2 litres on water on Thursday, same Friday. I take a couple of flasks with iced water.

I used to freeze bottles of water so they would defrost over the day but would often forget 🤣
      Thanks for watching 👍

Proper gardening that mate. Love rose pruning. It’s the only way to keep them looking good and for repeat blooms. People buy them and think they just bloom on their own.

It's definitely in my top five favourite maintenance jobs. Hope your keeping well pal and thank you for watching 👍

Great vid Chris, you made me laugh with your sense of humour about the wasps 😂 those roses seem to be black spot free mine always suffer sadly...

🤣 thanks for your kind words pal.
I use black spot spray before they get it. It's a preventative rather than healer 👍

Hi Chris what a lovely garden. I bet that takes a long time pruning. Was you there all day ? Once a week a big garden to keep on top of 👍

Hi Carl. I only spent about 1 1/2 hours on this part of the garden but spend all day at the property.

Another very watchable video! Who manufactures the bag you used for the clippings? It's a useful size.

This is the link for the bag. I did get mine in a local garden centre but they are cheaper in b&q www.diy.com/departments/verve-grey-pop-up-bag-120l-pack-of-1/3663602565222_BQ.prd
