The best way I can describe going there is 'I wish I never went there, but I'm glad I did'. It is just one of those places you NEED to go to, to experience it but you will never forget the feeling you get from being there. Haunting is the only way I can describe it and that doesn't even come close.

I used to work with a lady who had been here with her family in the war. She was a small child at the time lost all her family. She was amazingly brave and would tell me of her hideous experience. Still managed a great sense of humour bless her. Had severe walking difficulties due to malnourishment and beatings whilst there.thank you for your respectful approach you always show great empathy

MVP. Of course I can't say I believe something with 100% accuracy and I am quite sure that not all data from that era is accurate. But because I haven't studied this topic myself, I rather believe what the majority of eye witnesses, historians and scientists (who have actually studied these things) say, is the most likely version to be the truth.

      -General Dwight D. Eisenhower
Looks like even with all the films, the thousands of witness testimonies that match, the reports of both victims, and nazi soldiers, the paperwork, the scientific evidence, there's still bastards out there who are so hell bent on antisemitism that they're willing to call such an incredible painful part of history a "Hoax."

No one understands what it feels like walking through Auschwitz II-Birkenau, unless you've been there. I had the same experience in 1986. I was part of a small tour that went to Auschwitz, and then Birkenau. I remember being in Birkenau by myself, my 3 friends who came with me where not there, I think they stayed behind in Auschwitz. I felt I was the only person in Birkenau, there was not even a guide. I walked by myself and entered one of the barracks, saw the same thing you did, but as you stated, it was eerie. I was there during the summer and there was not even the sound of a bird, there was an eerie silence, difficult to describe. I was like being a cemetery, without the graves.

Jayne Nicoletti bless their hearts. When I was still in the Army Reserve my unit would work in a local hospital on our drill weekends for 4 months, on then off. I worked in ICU one weekend and met this wonderful woman who was there visiting her husband. Both were survivors of this horrible place. (They had the number tattoos to prove it ). Her husband was dying from a lung ailment no one could identify. Slides of his lung tissue were even sent to the CDC and they couldn’t identify it. She was convinced whatever it was he caught it in that death camp. I believed her. The entire staff did too. Such a lovely, tiny little woman still so in love with her husband. He passed away after being there for a little over a month and I never did see her again. She’s never left my memory though. It’s been about 15 years and I’m sure she’s joined her husband by now. She’s someone I’ll never forget.

I have the movie "Escape From Sobibor" and the whole school got to watch it with parents permission. 800 students in all. We watched it in the auditorium/gym. I asked teachers to take all of the children's phones and or devices with parents permission. We ALL watched it. When people would laugh I would stop the movie and give that person a lecture saying imagine you being there, give some people some respect. I aced my final with over 100%. He continued to tell his story of when he was a child and living through the holocaust. At the end of his speech he describes every night with these horrible nightmares, he can't sleep and the memories that will never go away. Describing what he goes through every night he breaks down sobbing in agony and that is the first day I seen a grown man cry. I cried, it absolutely broke my heart.

I don't even think they came close to prosecuting the actual number of Germans involved for war crimes. To carry out something like this on the scale that they did would have taken so many people working along with them. I don't think we can even guess how many people were involved in this scheme. My question is how many of them were doing it willingly. In so many cases, when the Germans invaded a new place, the locals (who had been fed such a steady diet of Nazi anti-semantic propaganda) actually did the Nazis job for them, sometimes beating to death huge populations of Jewish people.

Your sense of relative space was excellent. Orientation to the mind was well preserved. The atmosphere was all encompassing. Well done.
