Brazilian Marina Amaral, born in 1994, was studying international relations at university. But her twin passions for history and photography led her to abandon her studies to become a full-time artist. And her chosen medium is the colorization of historical photographs. It’s a skill that she’s honed to perfection and one she’s recently used for a project that combines a poignant sense of horror with a deep respect for humanity.

My uncle Gordon was one of the Canadian soldiers who liberated a death camp in '45. He refused to marry and never spoke of it, except to say it was the most horrific experience of his life, and he would not wish such a sight on anyone, and that this planet didn't deserve to have more children brought in to it, if that's what it's capable of. He finally did get married in the late 1970s, after he retired and they lived out their years together, very happily. He never smoked or drank and was the sweetest & gentle violin-playing uncle you could possibly imagine.

Patriotism dividing the world and thus creating more than enough war-emergence potential isn't dead yet and the USA's patriotism is far more dangerous than singular patriotic movements found in European countries at the moment.
It is astonishing that so many patriotic, nationalist people still claim to be against antidemocratic nazi ideology, when they are the ones unwilling to stop segregating the world by labelling people in nationalist categories nobody has ever been able to actively choose in the first place.
Faschist movements really could evolve anytime all over the world where mainstream culture prides itself on regional exclusivity and ostracism.
It is true that the USA were amongst the countries ending Germany's nazi-regime, but it is inappropiate to imagine the USA as selfless peace-activists nonetheless - In all likelihood, the USA's main wish was not so much to save the world from harmful ideologies, but mainly to expand their own seemingly superior empire based on quasi-democratic values and managed by quasi-democratic capitalist elitists further.

Well, they let themselves get disarmed, they allowed the marks, they kept quiet and did as they were told, the lesson here is never give the leaders more weapons than it's population. They really had no way at all to resist. However those that had weapons created militias and joined resistance teams. When you leave yourself defenseless this is usually the result. Happened from the ottoman empire to Cambodia. Do you think this was the only mass homicide? Pol pot was educated in Marxism in Europe.

I’m glad this video mentioned the various victims of the Holocaust. My grandparents were Polish Catholics who were taken for forced labor when Germany invaded Poland. The both spent time in a work camp.. later, my grandmother had to go work for a German family and my grandfather had to work in a factory.

I’m so proud of my brothers and sisters who remained loyal and faithful to Jehovah. They knew Jehovah was giving them strength to face death. He will reward their loyalty to Him by bringing them all back to life in a world without fear, prejudice, atrocities. They deserve our respect and love for their determination to maintain their integrity to Jehovah. Thank-you so much for recognizing and acknowledging their sacrifices.
