    It's also really good to alleviate hamstring tightness, since a common cause of tight hamstrings is poor weak glutes, the hamstrings take over for the glutes causing it to tighten, strengthening your glutes releases that tension on your hammies, making them looser, increasing range of mobility. So if you're someone who can't touch their toes, or heck, can't even touch their ankles with straight legs, doing the clamshell for your glutes can really make a difference.

    It really hurts when I do my left side. Does that mean I need more glute exercises for that side? Can you please let me know what I should do? My right side is fine. Love the video. Thank you!

    I suffer from Sciatia especially piriformis and this exercise is a must to strengthen the glutes, I made a mistake by doing stretching exercises which made my piriformis worse…also I need to work on hip mobility . Does this exercise help my hips as well? What exercises do you recommend or please sent me link. Thanks!!!

    Is it normal to feel discomfort in the public area while/after doing them? Its my first time in my life doing glute workout, I am a 30 years old healthy male, but I am very stiff. Will these flare ups relax, should I wait or do another set later at the same week?
    Thank you!

    This exercise helps "protect the back"? I wish you could explain that more. Thanks.

      Strengthening your glutes (also important to strengthen your core also) will help protect your back as your glutes act as cushion and alleviates pressure on your back, especially the lower back

    Back Intelligence....I find that doing some psoas work (e.g. stranding leg raises) prior, allows me to target my glute medius a lot more during clamshells....why is that?

    • @BackIntelligence
      @BackIntelligence  Před 3 lety +3

      Well when you're hip flexors aren't as tight, you can get better hip movement for the clamshell, so this makes sense.

    I am doing this exercise to strengthen my glutes, but I do not feel like I am using that muscle at all. I feel it in the quad only I tried moving the top knee slightly forward on top of the other and still nothing. Do you recommend any other Gluth exercises with no knee impact?

    • @Marylickit
      @Marylickit Před rokem +1

      Do other exercises like bridges, fire hydrants, and then do the clamshells. Squeeze your buns and tighten those abs when doing these exercises and don’t forget to breathe.

      I don't feel my left one it's like doing nothing but the right fires up quickly.
      I think we need to make activation to the glute.

      Think about pushing your top knee into the ground. It may take some time to activate it at first.
