- Using a cheap of tanks off of amazon, I decided to kitbash and build four Warhammer 40k tanks for the free skirmish game TONKS. This may be the best build I've made this year!

So annoying when other hobby youtubers skip that crucial pet-the-cat step! Glad to see there are _some_ pros here!
Moxie never lets me paint alone!
@@MadhouseMinis True dedication!
You inspired me to try this for myself. I'm making my first scratch built tonk and I saw these exact tanks on Temu (3 bucks!). Gonna build my daughter's tonk outta this.
The robot is from Armored Trooper Votoms btw. Great show
In case no one else said it, these tanks you started with look like knockoffs of World War Toons, they had great SD tanks.
28 is awesome
28:25 IT'S SCOPE DOG! So Scope Dog is a massproduction machine from Armored Trooper Votoms which is a cult classic mecha series. It's all about an endless war in a distant galaxy and shows what a culture that has evolved from such a conflict would be like. One of the big things that makes it different from other mech series is how disposable the mechs are, and how easy they are to produce, so even the main character will hop in and out of mecha pretty regularly though the Scope Dog is his usual preference. Rant aside, thanks for the video. I have a few of these in the mail and some ideas about how to use them.
Thanks for the detailed reply! And enjoy your new tonks
The big chunky rivets remind me of the British Cromwell tanks of WWII.
I think I'm finally hitting the age where I have to start learning about different WWII tanks
@@MadhouseMinis Well you don't have to learn about them; but taking a look at the various designs that came out of WWII could be quite inspiring.
I definitely want to get that set of small tanks since I want to convert them into Grot Tanks
Fuck Yeah!! The Tau finally get Reckognition. Tau are Legit the Boyo's
Honestly, the Kropt box that just came out really had me considering a Tau army. Blue Boyos
Love the conversions!!!! My favorite is the ork tonk of course!!! ❤😊❤
great video. you really captured the essence of each army in their tonks
Thanks! I'm still lost proud of the Tau Tonk
WOW! they are awesome!! well done! Yes 4 more!!
These are so sick!!
Moreee tonks s2
ChoroQ Tank
i saw that final faction x4
love it
Cool vid, and lovely paintjobs!
It's you! The tonks guy!
These are great. Inspiring stuff!
Thanks! Your ATV conversion inspired me to try painting and converting vehicles
@@MadhouseMinis Ahhh, that way madness lies!
amazing video, as always :)!
My Tau use purple floating energy. You're good.
Awesome i play Gard and will defiantly doo this
Very cool tonks chris. I just subscribed to your channel brother. I can't wait to see what else you do.
Thank you!
Cool
Super cool. Which factions would you do if you were going to do four more?
Definitely chaos. Maybe just the four chaos gods! That would easier than trying to make an Eldar tank or something
These look great! Maybe I missed it, but did you address the white tank's inability to rotate its turret all the way around? This was the one you made orky. The others can spin 360 but that one has top details (and a little nubbin at the back) that keep the turret at about a 45 degree from forward. I have these same tanks and am trying to decide how I'll fix that.
I can't remember if I addressed it, but it is a problem. You can loosen the screw on the bottom a bit, but then it goes wobbly. Or move it backwards with some force. Or house rule that orks are bad at shooting 🤷
@@MadhouseMinisHaha the house rule works! I might try and lift the turret up over its blockers with a washer or something, but tbd. Thanks!
Great job! The ork tonk is definitely my favourite from this build. Incidentally, where are the 15mm orks from?
Thanks! I bought them off Etsy from a shop called Filament Resin Hunter. I made another video on them that should have a link!
Thx! I found them, I traced the STLs back to Wakes Emporium on Gumroad.
@@thedourkin thanks for doing the hard work for me!
Idk if anyone's sourced the anime that robot is from for you yet but it's Armored Trooper VOTOMS! I've heard good things about it, bit haven't watched it myself. :P
What is the name of this cat? the world must know
That would be Moxie! Or Moxine, Squeesh, or Ms.Thang, as she's often known around my apartment
Those tanks are knockoffs of the world war toons models and I don’t think they’re authorized. Which is unfortunate because I like these too.
@@jonmandelbaum5395 oh man, they sure are. I've never heard of this before!
This is really cool.. but why "dahka"? I hear it so often, always from North Americans. It's the same 'a' as in "tack"
Do you mean why dakka or why it's pronounced that way?
@@termi6523I mean, why do North Americans seem to pronounce it "dahka"?
@@phluid61 ah ok, no clue
Good question! I guess in my North American mind guns to "dahka" not "daakka."
since when was it the a in tack, it’s always been dahka
