      Yeah, everyone forgets the loyal Beastmen.
      Then again they're kind of a "Rogue Trader/2nd ed" thing. It's very possible that the current Imperium would just declare Beastmen as unstable mutants as a blanket statement and exterminate them. Abhuman status is an arguable and subjective thing...

    If you ever consider doing a part 2, I'd love to see how you handle the Vitrian Dragoons. Them and the Armageddon Steel Legion are my favorite Guard Regiments. And if I ever start an Astra Millatarum army, I'd do it all as one of those 2 Regiments.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  Před 11 měsíci +10

      Funny you should mention that. The dragoons would fit nicely in a Sabbat Worlds video. The only issue is that I cant think of any base models which have the scale mail needed. Any thoughts?
      Steel Legion are definitely a possibility as well, alongside ork hunters, hive militia, Chem Dogs, and Jopall Indentured Squadrons I am thinking.

      If you want Steel legion I'd suggest looking at the Wargames Atlantic Raumjager kit in the deathfields range, they are very close to the old Steel Legion minis. In fact Wargames Atlantic cover a few of the older now nolonger supported regiments (and one of their kits can double as Mordian Iron Guard or Praetorians).

      @josiahzabel8596 agreed, though having seen Anvils recent soft armour torsos, I have been thinking about those an option with the Anvil cloaks and fatigue legs for a more tactical take, there's no doubting the Victoria miniatures heads, broaches and knives are the better option though

    One regiment I'd like to see is the Mordan Acid-dogs, a regiment that hails from a night world near to Cadia that produced the strongest acid in the Imperium. They are incredibly effective in subterranium and hive city warzones due to their underground upbringings, and specialise in the removal of mutants. Due to the close quarters they are often sent to, most regiments will be equipped with flamers. However, Acid-dogs are trained to be able to use every available weapon in the gaurd as a byproduct of scrounging from the minitorum and taking trophy weapons from fallen enemies. Their wargear is similar to that of cadia due to proximity, but has slight cosmetic differences (helmets are fitted with vision enhancement gear, fatigues are either short or have no sleeves and uniforms colors are a green/grey rather than tan.)

  • @stephenwood6663

    My own Traitor Guardsmen, the Renegade Legion of Asphodel Prime, use a lot of beastman bitz (they're built from a mixture of Cadian, Beastman and Flagellant parts), so it was great to see such like-minded thinking going on with the Warherd of Khazrid-dur! That being said, I love the Rogue Trooper vibes your Afriel gives off!

  • @TheKsalad
    @TheKsalad Před 11 měsíci +62

    I really like your Afriel strain guardsmen, personally I think the overdesigned armor of the Space Nam kit is too much for catachan/regular guardsmen but for the black box pet project regiment of whatever Ordos made them up, I think it works.

      @AmnioticlyTanked  Před 11 měsíci +5

  • @maddlarkin
    @maddlarkin Před 11 měsíci +3

    What I really like most here is all 5 of these are practical to scale into a large force, so many of the youtubers doing kitbashs for random guard regiments base them off character models, or single peice per kit heads that you'd need for the whole army (usually from a third box set) making them impractically expensive, these are great, fairly easy, nice results and even the single kit peice you used was an easy sub from multipule sources.
    Really liked the Afriel strain trooper, captures the original conversion really nicely and the space nam armour is a great fit, extra bags and pouches if you spares run low are an easy source from say Anvil, which is a route I may go if I do them for the arms and weapons just to add those attachements that really show off their mysterious backers money at work

    I haven't seen the full video yet, but I had to comment when I saw that you use the SpaceNam kit in this video- it's too perfect! I've been contemplating using the kit as my infantry foundation for a double dip 40k Catachan/ 30k Militia army for a few weeks now, but I think it's set in stone now as a project in my near future.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I'm usually pretty weary of using 3rd party kits, as to me many of them just don't "look" like warhammer models. Either the proportion are off, or the level of detail either way too much or too little.
      I must say though that Reptilian Overlords/Wargames Atlantic really knocked it out of the park with these dudes and I hope they put out more like 'em.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  Před 11 měsíci +1

      And they really are not that expensive...
      My only complaint actually is that there is no plastic command or heavy weapon upgrades for them, but you can buy the STLs if you have access to a printer.

    • @cakalafatides
      @cakalafatides Před 11 měsíci

      @@AmnioticlyTanked Yeah, for 40k that's definitely a problem if you're someone like me who doesn't have a printer (yet) but when it comes to the militia list I'm not super concerned, kitbashing a command squad with the current kit should be barely an inconvenience, and the same can probably be said for replacing some of the cadians on the GW artillery bases, or even just picking up some basic artillery models and sticking some dudes next to them. What I'm most concerned about is buying a ton of them (100,150 models) and starting to see a lot of the same leg poses. Other than that, I love the kit (at least from what I've seen).

      Full transparency. I think its because in the past all my videos have just been a step by step guide for what I did, where as this one I layered in a bit more lore, all of which I wrote myself.
      So if I'm being honest, I think stretching to improve my video quality is what was really the drain, but my hope is that by practicing the lore writing and summary skill over and over again, it will get easier as time goes on!

      I have their Cannon Fodder and Oooh Rah kits. The guns that come with the Cannon Fodder are terrible and the ones that come with the Ooh Rah kit can be a little too Aliens looking.
      The FN FAL look of the Spacenam guys are a pretty unique look so it will give me more options when I don't want guns that look like they're from Aliens (though often that's exactly what's needed).
      The helmets on the Cannon Fodder sprues look like they're 100% from the Expanse so I'm cultivating that look for games like Five Parsecs from Home and Aliens, Another Glorious Day in the Corps, the Alien RPG, and Infinity. The Spacenam rifles are going to be great for variety.
      Will probably use the hulked up bodies as gang members and dock workers during different scenarios for these games.

    Plenty of Sabbat Worlds Crusade options to choose from for sure, be they Vitrian Dragoons, Jantine Patricians, Volpone Bluebloods, or even the slag worker irregulars who fought in defense of Vervunhive on Verghast.
    Terrax Guard, Harakoni Warhawks, and Kanak Skulltakers would also be interesting ones to throw in as ideas:
    - Terrax is the site of a major Schola Progenium facility, and the Guard regiments raised there are trained under its auspices to the point of resembling an army of commissars.
    - Harakon is a low-gravity hive world, and its inhabitants are well-accustomed to heights and shifting air currents such that the Warhawks are often deployed as heavy drop troops (official artwork for them certainly paints the impression of them routinely performing High-Altitude Low-Oxygen jumps).
    - As one of many sources of "feral" Guard regiments, Kanak is home to many barbarian tribes, some of which are closer to Ogryn than human.
