Dance Dance Revolution is a rhythm game you play with your feet. Most people starting out keep their feet in the middle of the dance pad, but when the arrows get faster you can't do that any more. And when the arrows get faster, that makes the game more physically demanding.
In the higher levels, songs become exhausting just to clear, let alone clear accurately. Back in school, I was the least physically fit person I knew, to the extent of being hilariously nominated "Most Likely to Win an Olympic Medal". Kids are vicious. Point is, even one shot at a song can be draining sometimes.

In 2019, I joined a group of amateur to intermediate DDR players called "Black Flag Academy". Having a community of like-minded people to share scores with helped me improve fast, and in one of their team tournaments I would go on to be assigned this song. On the last day of the tournament, as the arcade was closing, I got a full combo on the Expert chart for Reach The Sky Without You. It was two greats away from perfect.
In DDR, they call it a "black flag" when you get only a single great on a chart, narrowly missing out on all perfects. Little did I know, true to the name of that group, I would go on to get a score of 1 great on this song, over and over and over again, for the next four years.
But now, it's over.
