Nobody should have to stay in an abusive relationship just because the parents say so. Society is built on decorum and manners, not on who is perfect in other's eyes. And generational abuse, abuser or victim, should never follow the next generation.

Seriously what was her mom thinking you don’t just sit there and take a horrible husband that’s why it’s important to Teach your kids what a good relationship looks like did her mom’s mom not teach her what a good relationship is supposed to be.
So glad Kelly found the strength to finally stand up for herself against her toxic husband. Sean was a psycho who wanted a maid, not a loving wife. He doesn’t deserve her. Hopefully her mother will do the same one day, especially once she saw how wonderfully Derek treated Kelly.

While noticing how happy Kelly is with Derek, Olivia starts ashamed of herself in not seeing signs of what her marriage to her husband, Carl, is really like inside. She finally understands how miserable Kelly was in her marriage to Sean and how much of a man-child he was. Olivia realizes the terrible ways she raised Kelly. She saw her own shortcomings in not showing any self-love nor respect for herself. Olivia stayed with Carl, put up with his controlling ways because she was too afraid of being alone and took advantage of her weakness. She accepts that Kelly was right and they should've left him a long time ago. Olivia thanks Derek for coming over and opening her eyes in this. She tells Kelly she did the right thing to divorce Sean and advises her never to let a good man like Derek go. Carl hears this and is angry.
That night and in their own home, both have a fight once more. This time, Olivia tells Carl off that their marriage was a mistake a long time ago. She points out that he was a control freak throughout the marriage and she was too afraid to leave him because of how hard it was to survive on her own. Olivia realized how much Kelly was right and it's better to be alone than with a miserable, mean-spirited man like Carl. She had the courage and strength to leave her toxic marriage behind. Olivia tells Carl, it's time she takes Kelly's advice to leave and find her own man who will love her for herself. She divorces him, packs her bags and walks out the door. Carl taunts Olivia with his terrible version of farewell, but she ignores him, continues walking to her car and drives off with her bags.
A few months after moving into her new home, Olivia starts redoing what she loves and bakes. Her new neighbors and their families love her pastries and help her open her bakery shop. Kelly visits Olivia there one night and notices how happy she really is in her new life away from Carl. She admits that she took Kelly's advice and left her father for good. Olivia finds a new man in Ben who loves her for herself and they are both happy.
6 years later, Carl returns miserable and broke. He begs Olivia to give him another chance, claiming he has changed his ways. Carl tells her about his life since she left him. He had met Paulette in an online dating site, fell in love and married her. Carl's life quickly fell apart when he discovered she didn't put up with his controlling ways, took over the house and laid down the law. Paulette humiliates him on a daily basis, steals his money and cheats on him with other men. One night, Carl caught her cheating on him with his best friend, kicked him out and left him with nothing. He now regrets how he treated Olivia, begs her to forgive him and wants her to take him back. She tells Carl off that he's too late. Olivia mentions that she has a wonderful man in Ben who loves her and treats her right. There's no room in her life for an abusive man like Carl and slams the door in his face,
How she embarrassing him but he the one broke the loud wind at the altar, in front of the guests. I'm glad my husband wasn't like Sean, just because you're married doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful to your spouse and be a slob all of a sudden. And your wife is not a servant, especially when you have friends over. At least one of his friends has a heart and respected her. Plus her mom is delusional, my mom and dad would hate a guy like Sean.

It’s okay to divorce with your husband you don’t like him anymore because no one should forced you to stay with him together. If anyone judge you for this happened, they should be ashamed of their actions. Plus, you don’t have to be pretend to be happy with your bad husband.
But at least Kelly did something what her mother failed to do along time ago which is having the courage and free will to divorce her tyrunt ex-husband Season, beside her mother knows that her own daughter was unhappy with her marriage to Sean but she still insist to be with a bad husband than be alone. Well I disagree with her completely and strongly agree with Kelly's point of view that it's better to be alone and happy as well as finding someone else who would treat, respect and apprieate her just like her new boyfriend Derek.
The main character's name is Kelly, not Oliver. But you're right. She did do the right thing. It made me sad when Kelly's mother said that all men are toxic. Her mother needs to be proved wrong.

I don’t think I would’ve married him if he did that to me, 🤢 such a mood killer. Especially if it was for the wrong reasons if he’s like that I might even break up.
