      It's something that could potentially be custom made, but for those who aren't good with that kinda thing, and the fact that they both technically retail for 50-60 dollars, its something they could have added

  • @nmorl9087

    I'd say that SHF Ryu is good if you love "playing" and changing poses of your figures a lot, while Storm Ryu is a much better display piece. Hands down, Storm Ryu looks much more of a higher quality figure than SHF though. If the SHF was $30 and Storm was $50 it would be justifyable, but both pretty much have the same price tag so the figure's quality is important.
    I came across both at a convention recently, they were both being sold for the same exact price ($55). I ended up getting the Storm figure and after playing around with it I'm VERY satisfied because the $55 price tag seems justified. Also I want to add that the seller had like 10 SHF Ryus left and there were only 2 Storm figures left, and after talking to the seller (about how good their price was for Storm Ryu) he mentioned that the Storm Ryu figure was popular and that he was surprised that he's almost selling out already (this was on day 1 of the convention btw).
    What you get with Storm:
    -Bigger more imposing figure (bigger, has more muscle definition, box is a lot more ornate than the SHF)
    -More detailed sculpt and painting, also possibility to display without the gi and the body underneath is fully sculpted as well
    -Great feel to the figure
    -nice articulation
    -great Hadouken effect piece
    -seriously beautiful box (love the design, while the SHF is a much smaller plain white box).
    And from looking at tons of SHF video reviews (and from owning several SHFs), you get:
    -More in-scale with other 1:12 figures
    -less beefy look and much more "anime" stylization
    -much cleaner look (which is pretty annoying, Gi is like printer paper white with no roughness which clashes greatly with Ryu's light brown skin)
    -much simpler sculpt, faces have a cheaper look to it with the barely sculpted mouth and straight black line whereas Storm Ryu has a fully sculpted mouth
    -better range of articulation, but jarring cuts in the sculpt. Seriously, when I looked at SHF Ryu in the packaging, his torso cut was really apparent, and I mean just look at the weird gap in the upper and lower part of the gi at 18:34.
    -Okay faces, but the yelling face is ugly af lmao

    Seeing them both side to side I like the SHF, it's pretty well handled in general but I prefer the Storm Collectable. The realistic look makes it pretty cool, even it doesn't truly fit with my video game collection, still could make it work. The bulkiness of Ryu on the Storm looks sick too, I just wish the clothes were cloth instead of plastic, plastic clothes always ruin a figure, plus real cloth would just have been really nice looking lol the accessories are pretty good, I wish he came with a bit more faces though but overall pretty good. I just wish storm did an Evil Ryu like this and not just only for USFIV😩😂

  • @zinda__bad
    @zinda__bad Před 7 lety

    Great comparison, thank you! One thing I'd correct is that both figures have a double elbow joint, but the Storm figure only achieves a 90 degree bend because the arms are much bulkier. If Storm had sculpted smaller biceps, or cut the joint deeper into the bicep, the joint could have achieved a deeper bend.

    the sh figuarts Ryu looks cheap compared to the Storm collectibles Ryu. Personally, I think the Storm collectibles stands heads and shoulders above the figuarts one, both literally and figuratively. All the sh figuarts Ryu really has on the Storm collectibles Ryu is arm and torso articulation, but that's because of the more accurate sculpt and better materials storm put into their figure. Aside from that one thing, quality, paint, sculpt, and accessories all goes to the Storm collectibles Ryu. lastly, u can't take off the sh figuarts Ryu's gi, where as the Storm Collectibles Ryu looks awesome without his gi, better than with it if u ask me. I'm not even a street fighter fan, but storm collectibles is doing so well with this line, I just can't pass it up.

    • @zinda__bad
      @zinda__bad Před 7 lety +3

      Agreed with almost all of this; I've ordered Scorpion, Sub-Zero and both versions of Ryu even though I'm not a mega fan just because they all look so high-quality and fun to mess around with. This really is what we should be getting at the $50 price-point, and it illustrates just how basic the SHF package is for the same money.
      One thing I'd point out is that even in terms of arm articulation, SHF isn't a clear winner. The elbow bend may be deeper, but there is no upper bicep swivel. Instead, the SHF has a swivel at the elbow joint, but using it stops you being able to bend the elbow more than 90 degrees and looks very unnatural. So in poses that use the bicep swivel--and many of Ryu's fight poses look better with it--the Storm figure is still the winner.
      There are also places where the reviewer doesn't seem to push Storm Ryu's articulation to its limits. If you look at AnthonysCustoms' reviews, the elbows and knees can bend a little deeper.

    I'm SHF team always, but I like the Zangief an Mr Bison Storm figures. The face and body of Storm Chun-li seems she's an ugly transvestite, and the face of Storm Ryu reminds me of my Chilean neighbor (it's him, i swear!)

  • @lukas203
    @lukas203 Před 6 lety +5

    Gotta give it to Storm Collectibles, the figure looks really nice, well sculpted, nice scale and everything. Posability wise? As you said shf has more range because it's not as bulky and thick as SC so he's a bit more fun to play and pose; somehow the limited posability of SC reminded me of Play Arts/ Kai from SE; the figures look amazing - yeah they're a much bigger scale too- however their range of articulations and posability wise is just very limited and the Dynamics feel plain and bland.
    You can say you can put shf for crazy dioramas (as it fits the 1/12 scale with other figures just fine); and then show off the SC with some trademark movements from the game using the cool looking stand.

    Great review brother!!! I really enjoy your vids and you have earned yourself a new sub. I think both of these figures are really good but if I had to pick one id give it to storm. Their version just looks more polished and realistic. However I recommend it with one caveot. Storms figures definitely scale a bit bigger than your standard import and domestic figures. They are about seven inches and may not scale good with your collection. However if the extra height doesn't bother you I'd say go ahead and enter the storm. You wont be disappointed...

I saw both figs for $54 on bbts.com, and watching this comparison, I'm glad I went with storm collectibles. I gotta say, while the figuarts one is very nice, the neutral head on that one looks derpy af, the eyes are spread apart way too much for my liking, and I love the weathering and the musculature on the storm one way better than sh's more lean and clean look.

    If you are going for the Street Fighter V look, it's not even a question that the Storm Collectibles gets it better. In articulation, Storm Collectibles also wins pretty definitively. Looking at the face, while both don't capture Ryu quite well, S.H. Figuarts Ryu looks like he is retarded. I love S.H. Figuarts, but Storm is, for the most part, better at these types of characters.

      Also the applied washes to the various components to the figure and also the mix of materials... The skin is cast in this matte rubber which makes it look like skin... His clothes have a ton of washes and the fabric has detailed texturing.... My only complaint is that some of his parts pop off super easily.... This makes him go better with NECA or Diamond Marvel Stuff.... Though Neca's Ryu looked super ugly...
      Hasbro mas gone super cheap on the paint washes... Their figures looks super flat and "shiny" as they as cast in the same plastic... So FIguarts fits better than that...

      That's a really good point! I never even thought to pair the SC figures with Daimlnd's larger more detailed figures! I'all definitely do some comparisons with Zangief and Ken, thanks for that!

      Yeah... Also the Storm Collectibles are showing at at Toys R Us if you live in the US... I like Diamond better cause they use more matted plastic. Figures are never shiny and they are always new sculpts...

    SH Figuarts Ryu is BY FAR WAY BETTER! More better points of articulation and articulation range. Plus its more in scale to other figures of 1/12! Storm Collectables is just quite too big.

      sonicrockmanx U're crazy, Storm collectibles Ryu has figuarts Ryu beat in every other category, sculpt, paint, accessories, and u can take off his gi. But u're right, they are pretty big, but I collect mezco one:12 figures, so he fits in fine. price point is another factor, but he goes for $60 in the US, which I think is more than fair for what u're getting.

      Ryu is 5' 9", he should be on the shorter side of the 1:12 scale under 6 inches. Storm Collectibles would work as a 1:10 scale.

    S.H. looks anorexic to me especially in the chest his anatomy looks weird. Also his gi gives him a pear shaped upper body like he's had one too many sakes . The inconsistent shading between the upper n lower on S.H. makes it look like a chinese bootleg IMO. And there is actually no difference in price at BBTS and other toy sights so yeah SC is killing it ill take some slight limits in articulation for what to me is more ascetically pleasing figure. LOL plus SC Ryu looks like he'd snap SH Ryu in half !!!!!!

    The shading on the top half of the Gi is non-existent. The figuarts Ryu is terrible looking. Chest needs to be thicker to match the arms/legs, face looks wrong and the aforementioned lack of upper body shading looks terrible and wrong. If it weren't for Chun-Li being pretty great I'd have dropped this line based on the half-assed Ryu here.
