He saw where the club was going when Fergie left and how it's being run. The cracks were there a long time ago, it's just that the genius of Fergie covered them well.
The club was a parasite from within the moment glazers set their hands on it, as u mentioned becaz of sir alex's greatness, United were able tk paper over the cracks.
Any competent owner would have properly replaced tevez and Ronaldo. Or at least invest heavily with such performances
Or the genius of the players covered him and he squeezed every drop outta the club n left the following managers no chance, nothing to work on.
He's talking about 2010 tho not 2014 but commercialization yeah
before that he started to be Greedy
No other manager at the time could have won the EPL in Fergies final year at the club.
The squad was the 4th or 5th best in the league at the time.
Fergie was indeed a genius and managed to hide the Glazers' deficiencies.
Hes well within his right to wonder "are we replacing them or what?" Because he did carry that early 2010s side at points
Looool what? Rooney never carried united at any point under Ferguson
@@24sumoSeason after Ronaldo and Teves left he scored 33 goals and was absolutely flying before his injury against Bayern. United then lost in CL and Chelsea won the Prem. That's just one example but feel free to ignore
@@24sumo you must be drinking. Rooney carried the team 2009/2010, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 before Van Persie finally came 2012/2013 to help us win the league and Fergie retired.
You must be a new Manutd fan or just a troll to disrespect Rooney like that

Ronaldo and Tevez left in 2009 and Rooney did an amazing job for the next 3 seasons scoring 85 goals finishing 2nd, 1st and 2nd in PL (ending up at same points as City in 2012) and reaching 2011 CL final❤ Underrated phase of his career.
How is it underrated? Wasn't he the most popular player at that time???
@@Laszlo5897 he was PFA player of the years in 2010 but wasn't included in ballon do'r top 23 shortlist

@prismatic9524
You also have to consider the difference in viewership between then & now. That will reflect broadcast license deals, which in turn will determine the salaries teams get & what agents demand for their players.
What Rooney did after the Ronaldo left for Real Madrid was the greatest run I’ve seen in a United player. He was literally the heart and soul of that team carrying us in every game. He was literally the 3rd best player in the world behind ronaldo and messi, and people just refuse to admit that.
😂😂😂😂😂

It’s not a 3/4 year transition Rooney. It has been a 16 year transition 😂
Well no because they won the league after that
@@89kilemaldon’t bother with this lot
This was in 2010. Won the league two times in those last three seasons with Fergie, plus another two cups after that.
@@FountainOfYoot Damn
We ended up replacing Ronaldo and Tevez with Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen
Replacement is a term I'd use loosely to say the least. Valencia transfer was 16m and Owen was free - Ronaldo left for 80m.
Great replacement 👍😂😂
Replacements in football actually don’t exist, a player that gets directly replaced with another player honing the same attributes and scoring rate nearly never happens lmfao. It’s always later on when the club finds something new, but obviously different, that’s the real “replacement” in football. It’s never direct same position next season boom takes off. 🤣
Owen won the PL
Don't forget Obertan came in to replace Ronaldo as well... 😅
Without those subtitles I was cooked.
Yeah, we replaced Ronaldo with Ronaldo 12 years later 😂
:D
That’s why they got Van Persie lol
This was in 2009 after United sold Ronaldo and Tevez. Rvp was signed in 2012. During these years United did not have any big signings. United did win the league but didn't have a squad to compete against that Barcelona team.
because he was cheap 3 years later.
Still don’t get why van persie left after his best season
@@FastandFinance ..... He had 1 good season, which was his first. He played for both Moyes and van Gaal...
Rashford would be gone under Ferguson
100%
No, Rashford would have been far better under Ferguson.
He would never last 9 years at the club under Ferguson😂
Rashford would be a Chicharito joker sub. Like a Marco Asensio for Real or Schürrle for Germany in 2014. Rashford is a good lad, just not "world class carry ManUnited good".
Clueless. Utterly clueless. Rashford would be twice the player he is now because Fergie would have got him playing at his best, week in week out. He’s hit 40 GA under Ole and ETH, he would be hitting 50 goals and assists a year every year if he was around in Fergies day.
he was right though I definitely felt it as a fan, the club squeezed evethint they could out of Giggs and Scholes in midfield; Giggs moved into central midfield and Scholes even came back from retirement at 36!
The club wasn’t signing good midfield players and Fergie was fielding average players like Cleverly and Gibson !
Shows you the genius of Sir Alex that despite the Glazers ruining the club, he kept United challenging at the very top of Europe between 2007-2013, in which he won 5 PL titles in 6 years and reached 3 UCL finals in 4 years, including winning 1 UCL.
Didn’t reach 3 UCL finals in 4 years. There was Chelsea and there was Barcelona

At that time it was obvious the club was going downhill we were playing players like cleverley Gibson Welbeck Smalling Jones Evans De Gea Young Valencia Berbatov. We were very lucky to get to Champions league final in 10/11 because the quality had gone down significantly. Signing RVP in 12/13 season was papering over a lot of cracks.
Berbatov was absolute world class pal.
De Gea during his golden years was too, but his consistency dropped years before his release tbf
The rest of those names are spot on!
You are absolutely lost. Fergie gave most of them debuts. Utd has always played youngster whether good or not, gives people an opportunity to earn a living. Berba was a steal. De gea was donoruma before psg. Or tell me the other premier gk playing regular as a teenager 🤡
berbatov scored 20 goals as a part time player. mystified me then and still does now, why he wasn't a lock starter.
De Gea, Valencia and Berbatov in this list is wild
You are confused. That’s literally was Fergusons speciality, turning bang average players into champions. Think of Fletcher, Carrick, Gary Neville, Brown, Oshea. I’d even argue Scholes
At the time as a fan I felt Rooney was out of order.
He wasn't. He was demanding winners and instead we got Phil Jones 😅.
Let's never forget that it was Ferguson's greed over horses that let the Glazers in the door!
The lack of succession planning for when fergie left was a joke. They’d just won the league largely because other teams underperformed and had evra, vidic, Ferdinand on their last legs and van persie broken. And that summer they gave moyes virtually no money
Moyes had money. He wasted 30m on Fellaini & nobody wanted to come to man United.

Wazza leaving united sooner would have been disastrous
I’m a United fan but I wouldn’t have begrudged him leaving earlier. After the 08/09 season we declined massively.
after 2010 with Cristiano and tevez gone and the likes of scholes, giggs , Rio etc aging we never looked the same and they just weren’t replaced . Managed to get a ucl final and one or two more cups between 2010 and 2013 but that was just pure grit from Fergie as a farewell tour could tell it took everything he had to scrape that league .
I still belive ManU could have done something to sign Tevez despite his ownership problems. Look at what they now pay for failures. He had proved his worth, what more did they want. Loosing Ronaldo and him same time was a big hit. One of the teams biggest mistake.
The problem with that tevez deal was the shady agent, he wanted back handers

Dnt see how fergy is revered as this great man manager think most players if they ask a valid question aba the direction of the club an got told to go away essentially would leave rs away

Exactly. You can also put it like that. Fergie is the reason why they won and he is also the reason why they are in the mud to this day cause of him choosing David Moyes instead of Jose or Pep.
Ferries didn't control the Glazers changing the culture of the club at the top of the hierarchy.
Fergie masked the problems, and regarding the quality of the squad, it's clear to see recruitment was/has has been a constant problem...ironically, since the Glazers bought the club..

Got Owen, Valencia and Van Persie a year or 2 after.
Yeah getting a 35-year old Owen and Valencia right after selling Tevez and Ronaldo shows you how fucked the club already was thanks to the Glazers, it’s just the genius of Sir Alex that papered over the cracks as he kept on winning and hiding the cracks of the club by stating things like we went for Owen and Valencia “because the market is inflated and not right” and heck the Glazers even denied Sir Alex an extra million to complete the signing of Benzema in that summer window.
He looks about 48 here, I think the reason he was so advanced technically at 16 was because physically his body was probably biologically then aged 26.

I think he means calibre of players. If the centre halves they signed were John Terry and Thiago silva at that time he wouldn’t have said that. He obviously didn’t mean centre halves playing as strikers
It was just a polite way of saying the players were kinda shyte for a team of the calliber that was expected at that time without offending anybody.

Why he looked like Papa Smurf now?
He grew up at the club, if someone then he felt the change earliest
At the time Phil Jones signed he was 18 and the hottest talent in British football, and turned down Liverpool and Chelsea. I don't think that signing showed a lack of ambition.

It was £250k. He ended up winning PL twice and reaching CL final. Finished 5th in ballon do'r in 2011. He wasn't a Rashford or Martial. He actually justified that salary.

We all knew I back then, it was all over the media even back then
And United are still in transition now
There was no plan
United stuck in rebuilding phase since saf left now for 10 years
You signed Phil Jones we signed Kun Aguero
Never take advice from Gary well done rooney
He held the club to ransom, man utd fans always conveniently forget that. He flirted with your city rivals, just for some more money on top of the fortune that he already had. Once a blue, always a blue? Not for Wayne. He was a mercenary, never a legend.
Man Utd didn't sell Tevez, he joined them on loan from West-Ham - they attempted to sign him but he refused the deal and went to City instead.
Part of the reason for this was commitment - Tevez felt slighted by Man Utd signing Berbatov before finalising his transfer.
And yet, Gary has problems when Bruno asks these questions with current Man United hierarchy!!!

Very strange, Ronaldo and Tevez left in 2009, Smalling arrived in 2010 and Jones in 2011
These are just bad examples given off the top of his head. Reality remains United sold Ronaldo & Tevez that summer & replaced them with Valencia, Obertan & Michael Owen.
Rooney had a very valid point of the ambition being shown & history has proven him right to be concerned.
Work it out
Can you all just use your brains for 1 second? He's obliviously talking about a long process here, not one afternoon. The club sold CR and Tevez in 09 and didn't replace them with the same quality over the next few windows. Rooney put in his transfer request in 2011 IIRC.. it all lines up. Even if it didn't, it's been over a decade, finer details can be fuzzy.
