In Brazil, we don't call him Ronaldo, we just call him 'O Fenomeno', 'The Phenomenon'. He truly was a phenom out there on the field. So glad that I got to see him, and remember his great skills in that 2002 World Cup. Incredible talent... like a bolt of lightning

Best ever player for me. I remember the first time I watched him in Confed 1997 game against Czech Republic. My parents were just talking about him and I was really curious to see this player who had a similar name to mine. I was only 8 years old and was blown away. I liked soccer but after I watched this guy, I started loving it and following it. I even said I wanted to play for Brazil even though I am not from there. It's always inspirational to see how he overcame his injuries.

He was adept at both styles of dribbling - going straight in a line beating defenders (gambeta) and doing tricks with the ball (GINGA). Simply the greatest dribbler of the ball ever even with a dodgy knee and weight issues.
I remember in 1998, brazil vs denmark, a world cup match. Denmark destroyed my country Nigeria in the previous round and i hated them (on pure footballing level) for that. Then they met RONALDO and Brazil in the quarters. That match will live forever in my memory. Ronaldo played like an angry beast against Denmark. His touches, dribbling, strength and 2 assists were truly phenomenon in that match. After that game, i rated him above every humans from any profession in the world. He is truly a PHENOMENON.

I remember when he was in his prime, he was unbelievable, there was no youtube or anything like that so when you had the chance to watch a game featuring Ronaldo you almost didn't want to blink because you knew you were watching something special. He never played for a team that I supported so I still remember that feeling of jealousy for not having a player that could control and touch the ball the way he did. He would just glide through the field and the ball would listen to his every command.

Messi & cr7 may have more goals than r9 even neymar ,aguaro, Suarez & lawandoski will surely pass r9 goal tally at the end of their career but nobody has as much impact on football as r9 had. Both players have the same athleticism, speed and creativity; perhaps Ronaldo has fancier tricks and dribbles, while Pele can use the movements of his opposition a bit better to his advantage. Remember Ronaldo's prime was before 2002, before his injury. Look at what he did when he was wearing that Barca Jersey. Look at how Ronaldo came back from injury and DOMINATED World Cup 2002 with all these decisive goals through almost every game. Simply imagine what an uninjured Ronaldo could do with a healthy longer career. Messi and CR are lucky not to suffer from multiple career-ending injuries because football these days is much softer than Ronaldo's time when defender played savagely.
