Why Nepali Tea can make us RICH?

  • Nepal's tea industry is struggling. For too long, Nepali tea has been overshadowed by Indian tea - the truth is Nepal grows great tea but hasn't been able to brand and sell it on its own. Nepali farmers often sell their tea to Indian companies who then repackage and resell that same tea as Indian tea! This needs to change if Nepal's tea industry is to thrive. In this video, I'll discuss how Nepal can overcome this challenge by focusing on marketing, branding and selling directly to consumers. Nepali tea has a rich history, great flavor and massive potential - if Nepal can get its tea branding right, it has a real chance to compete with Indian tea and beyond. So join me as we explore how Nepal can truly showcase its tea to the world.

Our over dependency on India is a major problem. If we try to expand the relationship with other countries, have the trademark right and export the products firsthand, we can progress in this field very well.

I've been enjoying Nepali tea from a Los Angeles-based company called Tamakhu Coffee & Tea. They import their tea directly from Nepal. It's surely not easy bringing quality tea from so far away, but they seem to do a great job at it. It's wonderful to see this video highlighting Nepali tea, and I feel proud to be a small part of it by supporting Tamakhu.

Good presentation, do you know why Darjeeling is best as the country gets more thunder and lightning which produces nitrogen that fertilizes the tea garden and makes the tea with the best flavor. Should research that also, as you know tea garden grows smaller trees, where these trees' roots catch the nitrogen from the thunder and lightning and spread around the soil of the vast tea garden and get fertilized.

yes we know that. We never said Nepal produces more tea than India. We also know India is more powerful and developed than Nepal. But you and we also must know that how India has stopped a lot of developments of Nepal since the history. The factories and industries we had in the past was indirectly bought/stopped by India so that they could export their products in Nepal and that is exactly what is happening in Nepal. Alnost everything comes from India to Nepal. Thanks to our greddy politicians of Nepal. The international airport, the train track building from China, and many more like you seen in this video are examples of how India is blocking the development of Nepal. This is a fact whether you believe or not. @@kthapa9697

Great Video there you pointed out the exact problem that we are a solution for. The problem is of Marketing. Due to a lack of knowledge in Nepalese Teas traders about how to market their teas overseas, most of our teas get exported to India, Where they get labeled as tea of Indian origin, before getting exported out as Darjeeling Tea. HOwever there is a very shiny and prominent silver lining. The response for our high elevation Teas from Nepal has been great here in the United States and as a company marketing Nepalese Teas here, we are excited to whats coming for the entire Nepali Tea industry. Once Again, thank you so much for your effort in shining a light on the problem

When Nepali carpet/Rugs (Galaicha) industry took over the world in late 80s to mid 1990s, some nations took it to the International forum and alleged that Forced Child labour was used in Nepal's carpet industry, this accusation (although true to some extent) derailed the future of Nepali carpet industry and crippled it forever. As a means to damage control, then ministry of Industry and Commerce brought forth a sweeping reform to eliminate any Child labour from the industry and, introduced a sticker to be stiched along in those Carpet/Rugs, which was named 'Rugmark', which connoted that the Carpet/Rugs bought by foreign consumers was free from Child Labour. But the damage was already done.
Guess who was behind derailing the prospects of the Nepali Galaicha industry? While Bangladesh became No.1 in exporting the garments while practicing similar and often more hazardous work conditions, where 1125 labourers were killed in 2013. Yet no one dared to question them.
