I actually look forward to talking in Urdu so much! Living in Canada, I'm tired of always communicating in English and French. Even my siblings keep talking to each other in French. So when I go to Pakistan and I speak in Urdu, my extended family makes remarks like ''Hasan bhai, aap to bohot khalis Urdu bol rahe hain''. To main kya sab ki tarhan Urdu aur English ka kachumar bana ke bolun? 😑 Gotta decolonize our minds.

@@abdullah_974-h4g I was talking about talking in Urdu, not writing. I've been living in Canada for over 25 years. Needless to say that I don't have the same fluency in reading and writing, but I can speak well, alhamdulillah. I was only a child when my parents immigrated to Canada.

I started writing my diary in Urdu when I was in School and now its been 3 years I completed my Masters as well and its amazing to write down the good and bad days of your life. I feel shocked sometimes that why mostly people can't even read Urdu words. 😐

While a nice challenge, As someone who studies linguistics, there is nothing wrong in admitting modern day Urdu is largely a language dependant on English and cannot exist without English words, urdu is not becoming exinct at all, not at all it is just evolving to its next generation, naturally as it has done many times in the past.
Present-day Pakistani society and youth in general largely rely on linguistic code-switching. If Pakistan were to be progressive and gets more educated the future of Pakistan would always be a hybrid english/urdu environment, roads signs, exams, numbers/currency, computers, and banking systems will rely on English while communication will always be urdu mixed with some essence of english. Overtime even the grammar and genders in urdu will take some advantage of english, this is just natural human and dialect progression. Texting and messaging will always rely on the English This phenomena is seen in other languages like tagalog & in the philipines aswell where verbs and more precise speech are largely associated with english usage.If Pakistan (for arguments sake) lets imagine becomes a modern first-world and largely educated society, it would look something like Singapore where mandarin and english or "Singlish" coexists.
We should get out of complexes and embrace that the future of Pakistan and the future of Urdu advancement lies borrowing words from English and our next generations will always be bilingual in the least, as older Urdu relied on words from Persian, however there is a huge sentiment amongst the people about borrowing words from hindi and would rather use english words but on the other hand the elder and the purists of urdu do not like where this is going however this is just linguistic revolution and will be a part of pakistans future.
It depends on the politics in the area. It’s not necessary that modern Pakistan will go that direction at all. Things can change.
