- On-the-fly stem separation is the new big thing in the world of DJ software. But what if you want something more studio oriented for your edits and remixes, or to create stems for performing with as a DJ when your platform of choice doesn’t support it? The newly released Stemverter 3 may be the solution you’re looking for.
It’s been upgraded massively over the previous version, and the core AI engine is based on Meta’s DEMUCS, meaning it should provide some of the best quality stems in the game. We give it a full review on the new episode of Beatsource Tech.

To my ear, VirtualDJ and Stemverter seem to sound best across the examples here.
CFLO did his thing with Stemverter.
I love virtualdj stem
I'm an old and stubborn Traktor user and this is the answer for using stems. After using Stemverter, I can drop the files into "Stem Creator" (free app) and done, I have a stem file compatible with Traktor. I have an S4 controller so the mute/unmute buttons are there. Thanks for all the content.
Holy crap I haven't even thought of this! Gotta try this too!
Nuo Stems 2.0 uses the same algorithm, exports to Traktor Stem format (so no need to use the Stem creator) and is way more affordable (30€).
@@KevinBasher Wow, thanks! That seems just perfect for a Traktor user who also wants to have the WAWs separately!
@@KevinBasher Nuo Stems uses demucs v3. Stemverter uses v4.
@@leesinthemix Thanks - didn't know that!
I use the lalala and it’s pretty good imo, but Stemverter sounds like a beast. Good investment for serious dj remixes
Good job CFLO!
Sold , thanks for the video. Got a Mac M1 recently so this will be perfect
Stemverter seems to sound the cleanest
Mojaxx your looking good stay healthy my friend keep it up!!
Nice! I’d be interested in hearing the difference with between Steamverter and Izotope’s RX app. For the price, though, it’s a no-brainer good deal for Steamverter.
isn't RX harder work?
These software stem extractors are getting so good! I was stoked about Serato, but there are still lots of artifacts in the stems - great for live but not as much for a higher quality remix. Virtual DJ sounds impressive too, but Stemverter seems like it takes the cake
Told ya VDJ is killin it!!
facts
💯
Demucs is definitely state of the art right now.
GAUDIO (GSEP) is better and less CPU/GPU intensive
RIPX might be a better solution? I'd like a side-by-side comparison of the two.
I like ripx .. just got the remix one for 50 Bucks and its great you can clean up the glitchy artifacts.. still not 100% but you can eq some of it, add some fx and its usable.. like most of these, the source quality also is a massive factor..
I would also hope to see a comparison video of RipX compared to Stemverter
Stemvertet rocks ⭐️👍🏼
Serato Stems is kind of trash! particularly vocals sound like 64kbps rip downloaded from Napster in 2003!
Hahaha for real tho. Vdj stems is more usable, especially the version 2.0 it's just like close enough to studio quality.
I don't understand why producers don't like releasing their content already in stems, how NI perseived initially 6 years ago! This now that you can sort of do it yourself with 3rd party software without consent of the artist/producer. The quality still isn't that good or never will be when relying on software to split a single source, each stem sounds like an 16kbs mp3. Though will be interesting to hear the quality of Traktors implementation when they introduce it to their own software as they were the forethinkers.
?y God Yes i get so frustrated as a Traktor user they were soooo far ahead on this, even with the Traktor S8 controller.
A lot of tracks have heavy master-chain on em with hard limiting. No way such track in stems will sound the same way as the original track...
Could easily be a licensing/rights issue.
Anyone have any advice of how to utilize the stem functions in Traktor pro 3?
What are your thoughts on RipX DeepAudio?
You should maybe check out RipX Deep Remix
I hope serato stems sound better in the next few updates not that there bad but im going to use them in serato studio
Hard to tell which is best when diff parts of the songs are used for each example.
Did I get it right, playing all stems at the same time does not exactly equal the original track? I'd really like to use stems inside traktor but since most of the time I will play all stems (like the original track) I don't want to lack quality here just for the ability to play with the acapella, drums, etc. every once in a while
not sure whats going on with their site but it won't let me download it.
Great to see CFLO continue to improve his app. However, this seems like more of an ad for Virtual DJ than Stemverter. It consistently sounded better in every example. Also, if youre trying to compare them, why would you use different parts of the song?
Sound quality, anyone knows?
DEMUCS is an open source and FREE program that anyone can use running Python.
Schweeet! Native Instruments also deserve shout when it comes to stems....Original.
No windows?? damn man
Demucs v4 is the best hands down, then Virtual DJ
Why pay for this when you cab get serato studio for free?
Wow..! I had to stop this video. The tracks you using are extremely anoying.
Stems??? Lol Wow back in the days 80s and 90z we just called it mixing
Go mix with tapes u ass
Yeah remember you could get a double pack, a four pack, or an eight pack of records back in the day. Each set would have, instrumental, dub acapella, vocal, and remixes. Old school Analog Stems lol.
@@Positive_Tea yeah I’m all for it . Can’t wait to see the future when ya don’t have to make heart shape with your fingers , it will be done for you lol
