- We first reviewed the GraniteStone frying pan 5 months ago when it was new. We use it nearly every day, so we wanted to give an update of how it works now.
Spoiler: It works like the day we bought it. It's our "go to" pan, especially for eggs. For an "As Seen on TV" purchase, it's really been a good pan. Watch how nonstick it is as we fry some eggs.
Thanks this updated review help me to choose the right pan
Its nice to have honesty ! ( kinda rare nowdays ) . Thumbs up ! And subscribed ! Thank you .
Thank you for this "Real world review/use" of this pan.
It's now been 2 1/2 years and it's still my "go to" pan. It's not as nonstick as the commercials, but it doesn't scratch or flake and nothing sticks very much.
If you use that much butter, (I do), your eggs won’t stick to any pan.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was my thought exactly...Right?
Bullshit
not true my friend. There are many non stick pans that become sticky after a couple months use.. you can coat the whole thing in oil and it will stick and burn horribly. This pan is seen to last with cooking on it normally and won't face anything terribly
Now that's how to use a frying pan. My pan is the same one, works great.
It's good you do a test of time on a product like this. You're right when you say they work just fine the first few times then they Stop working... Good man....
Thank you so much for review. It does help.
It's been 2 1/2 years now and it's STILL my go-to pan. With proper lubrication, it works great. People say that with enough oil, nothing will stick. I disagree. I've used stainless and cast iron with mixed results. And to this day, there's no scratches or flaking. Sometimes I wish it was bigger!
I love mine. I've cooked all sorts of stuff in mine i've even used in oven, brown on stove top and finish in oven..
You could fry chicken in all that butter
😂👍
I havent seen original video. But i found this helpful thanks :)
Thanks. Here is the original. czcams.com/video/n7WyprrHkt0/video.html
I really like mine.
I found that the key things about the pan are;
1) Always pre-heat the pan a bit,
2) Use some oil/butter (no spray!)
3) Don't go above medium heat,
4) Be gentle when you clean it - no rough-side of the sponge.
It took a couple of years, but I eventually wore this pan out. It's been replaced by the pan at the video link, made by HLAFRG. That pan is the BOMB. After months of using it every day, eggs still slip around like it's new. It's the best nonstick pan I've ever owned by far. czcams.com/video/N3phP4G6shw/video.html
I'm glad you answered that question for me it was the question that I had posed before I saw your comment. I cook somethings on higher heat and the problem I've had with other pans is that they warp on high heat. So this won't work out for me but I appreciate you giving me a heads up
I would have liked to have seen a cooking demo with no butter because Granitestone cookware info states no oil or butter needed. I was going to order a Gotham Steel cookware set but I think I'm going to go with the Granitestone I can get it on Amazon right now for $95 for a 10-piece set. It's essentially a very similar type coating, coated 3 times and reinforced with diamond particles/materials. The biggest thing for me with cookware is that the glass lids have riveted handles, I don't like the cheaper cookware that has the plastic knobs held in by a screw.
I actualy found and bought "The Rock" skillet, so far so good, it is heavyer built than the Granite Stone!
I will give a longer term review in a few more months.
The Rock cookware non-stick coating contains PTFE though.
@@Kathryn.K Out of Dozens of brands & models- Hands Down the Rock has been the best non stick pan for me.
PTFE itself is not suspected of causing cancer, so says the American Cancer Society. That’s because PTFE is inert. It will not react with other chemicals inside or outside of your body.
However, the organization will not make the same statement about perfluorooctanoic acid. Perfluorooctanoic acid’s scientific name has been shortened to PFOA. PFOA is a chemical that was - until 2013 - used to make PTFE.
The good news is that PFOA is no longer used to make Teflon or PTFE. The Environmental Protection Agency worked with DuPont and other chemical companies to stop using PFOA. It hasn’t been part of the Teflon manufacturing process since 2013.
To be "safe" do NOT use super High Heat on non stick pans, thats what Cast and stailess is for!
I purchased the Rock, it seemed to last about 5 months. Then one day I was doing eggs as usual and one stuck, now it sticks all the time.
My only problem is that it says "nonstick" on the package and it isn't. If you have to use the techniques which will work on any stainless steel pan to make your non-stick pan not stick, what you have is not a non-stick pan.
I can't disagree with you. However, I still like this pan over many others I've tried. On others, the coating wears over time. I haven't noticed that on this pan. With just a little butter, eggs slide around like they're on ice. There must be a lot of latitude in the word "nonstick".
No pan is truly "non stick" They'll all stick. It's just these pans don't need constant care and seasoning. They just need a bit of butter to prevent sticking. Cast iron may be good for some people. Who don't mind putting in the care they need to to keep it rust free and well seasoned all the time. Also, real sweet cream butter is good for you. No reason to shun it like people do. Margarine is the sh*t that's bad for you.
They work untill the wife or whoever cranks the heat way up One time! LOL I am planning on trying this pan next if i can find a 12". Thanks for the update.
That's what ruined my last batch of pans lol... Wife loves to forget the pans on the burners.
Has anyone found a silicone handle cover for these pans?
What about food sticking to the outside of pan? Does it "bond" to the sides & bottom like those worthless Copper Chef ones or does it come off with a little bit of scrubbing?
The non-stick portion is only on the inside, so if food spilled over, it would stick. But it doesn't seem to be a problem. I don't spill much and if I do, it scrubs off easily. BTW, I'm still using this pan almost daily and it's my go-to pan for eggs. Despite what the ads show, you MUST use some sort of lubricant like butter or oil. It's one of the best pans I've ever owned and I'd buy another one if I lost this one. That's not a paid endorsement; I'm just a dude cooking eggs!
@@HappyWifeAcres thanks for getting to me. I'm going to purchase one pan to see if it holds up after a year.
I dont think your suppose to use any thing. I dont use any oil or ??? at all. And it works just fine. The wife and I have had mine since they first come out.
I still like using it, and use it most every day. Eggs (my gold standard for sticking) do awful without oil. But it is a very durable pan and doesn't scratch, chip, or peel like teflon pans.
I agree, the whole thing about using cookware that doesn't require having to use oil or butter is that you're doing healthier cooking not ingesting the extra fat.
I'm annoyed that GraniteStone frying pans aren't available in the EU.
what if you scratch it? is it safe?
Seems like this is more of an update on how well butter works in making sure nothing sticks to your pan.
I agree, I wish the demo would have been cooking with no oil or butter because the Granitestone cookware info states no butter or oil needed.
Can I use spray oil I do at home? Not the can one but story bottle?
I really don’t know. The instructions said no spray oil, just butter or liquid oil. But the pan is so old now I occasionally use the can spray. The pan does wear and gradually becomes less stick-free over time. We’ve used this pan a LOT though!
I believe you just deep-fried your eggs... Hard to imagine how it can stick.
Yes I think that was too much butter for that size pan, lol.
LOL so many likes already haha :D
Of course it won’t stick with all of that butter that’s the reason for non stock to not use any fats
The problem I've had with every pan that didn't work out for me is that they warp at high heat and then never cook even again. Have you used these at high heat?
They all say to not use them at high heat. Not sure what you're using them for, but if oil is smoking, it's on too high! The Granite Stone pan eventually went the way of all the ones before it, although it lasted longer. HOWEVER, the pan we reviewed at the link is AMAZING. I've been using it almost daily for 5 months and eggs still slip around in the pan. This one is worth every penny! czcams.com/video/N3phP4G6shw/video.html
hello - did you season it with oil in the oven when you first bought it?
No, according to the instructions.
You don't have to season a non-stick pan, lol, that's only with cast iron.
It’s impossible to tell if it’s nonstick when you’re using butter lol
Exactly, I think if you're going to do a video for non-stick cookware you should be using no oil or butter because then that will be showing the true non-stick capability, if the cookware has it or not.
Ive seen ppl use olive oil and spray. If oil hurts the finish they aren't worth buying
it better not stick with that much butter...holy heart killer
I would avoid using metal utensils, even if they say it’s safe.
I agree I think that's just common sense, infomercials stating you can use metal utensils is just part of marketing, I can't see that being good over time on any type of coating.
Add butter.
I've had a few of these and love them. They say that you shouldn't use the spray oil because most of them have a low smoke point temp. and you can burn the oils into the pan and ruin the non-stick that way.
After 2 1/2 years, I finally wore this one out. I was gentle to it, but it just wasn't performing well. A company sent us a pan to check out and we love it. I'm just about to post that review. Look for the red frying pan!
@@HappyWifeAcres Looking forward to it!
