The story of Margaret Horton. One of the most famous flights in a Spitfire to date, made even better by the Spitfire - AB910 - still flying with the RAF today.
I served on the BBMF as ground crew at RAF Coltishall in the 70;s Margret Horton visited us. We wheeled AB910 outside for her, she stood by the tail and had photo's taken but she would not sit on it. I believe it was in the summer of 1973, We had just finished rebuilding the aircraft after a landing accident the September before. She was a small and pleasant lady.
@davegoldsmith4020 that's a great story. I do love the BBMF, and I had met the late Shlongly a few times over the years. Hopefully, we may see a Spit flying before the end of the year, although I have little hope in the Lancaster flying for a while...
@marekryszard I note with this video I was meant to say - I recorded it back in February when I had a cold. I delayed the release due to MKs crash. I would have re-recorded it, but I have been very busy personally with exams. So my apologies.

I had read of the story and always wondered how such a tail heavy Spitfire could be "gently" landed.
Apparently once back on the ground the pilot quipped 'Get yourself a logbook love and put down half an hour on Spits'.
@@machloopmusic4133 haha - I do love RAF humour
nice
Thanks
Bloody hell, that was quite a Spitfire ride. Could have ended much differently.
@@peterrollinson-lorimer it definitely could have, but thankfully did not
Your delivery needs improvement.
You're almost mumbling with very little enthusiasm in your voice.
Keep coming back 😎
