- Sailing Across the Pacific - A month at sea - Sailing the Pacific Episode 17
In this episode we sail 4210 miles non-stop from Panama to Fatu Hiva in the Marquesas. A journey taking over a month, our biggest challenge yet.
We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid.

One of the loveliest couples imaginable, and an absolute inspiration to potential cruisers.
I just enjoy you loving two. If I am not 84 , I love your adventure in my dream. You make me feel young at heart again. Just beautiful.
1 millions views on this video & only 50 something thousand subscribers. Come on folks let CZcams pay these folks. We get to travel by video for free. Hope to meet you guys one day. Great work & fun. Awesome job with videos.🙏
Totally agree mate, CZcams is yet another colossal corporation fleecing ordinary people and probably paying peanuts in taxes. The world is growing very sick of the deeply sinister and constant flow of these corporations that appear as if from nowhere, and nearly always come from Silicon Valley.
Sailing and Backgammon! That's how it's done! We had some Pirates in East Africa too... we know the feeling! Love your channel guys! Hope the tuna tasted good! Aubrey and Stefan
Just finished binge-watching all your videos. Nice to see a young cruising couple that actually knows how to sail. Great, well-edited, no non-sense videos, with lots of sailing. Sailing dinghy? Brilliant! 😃
Reminds me of my old full keel oday.. used to sail that thing everyday possible. God I miss the water. Building a sloop over the next few years. I'll b back damn it
Open sea beautifol days and what we need else in life cheers from Croatia
I so admire these kind of young people....
Just watched your latest vid trekking in Namibia.
Rewatched this one. In 4.5 years you two have vastly improved your vids. I love your channel.
I re-read Kon Tiki after this episode and I was amazed at the memories of the 'much younger me' it brought back, very fun. Great channel, wishing you two all the best.
Hi guys, thanks so much for sharing! Like the others here I’ve just found your channel and look forward to catching up and seeing the new releases. Enjoy and stay safe. Sk in the UK.
What a wonderful episode! Loved it! You guys are an inspiration to me! 33 days at sea and just 70 liters of diesel used, top job. Whishing you fair winds and save sailing, from Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Loved your tribute to Neptune. great video, thanks.
So satisfying to see a GBR sail heading across the oceans of the world. Keep going. Stay safe.
Incredible sea and skyscapes give the true meaning to "awesome". Thanks for sharing your voyage with us.
Amazing videos wish I was as brave as you. Always wanted to sail the world but have never had the courage it's all that paper work that really frightens me
Really glad I found your channel. I have only watched this video so far but I am going to go back and watch your earlier episodes.
Don't forget your can opener! Hard to find supermarkets out there in the middle of the pacific lol!
The wildlife of the world won't be happy until you two have finished your trip. You walk, ride stealth bikes, sail your tender and boat and quite frankly the wildlife are sick and tired of having the bejesus scared out of them as you sneak around. Fantastic video. Thanks guys.
Congrats on your long crossing, well done guys and good to see you again too. Great video of course. thanks and best from HKG
Nicely filmed passage.....I enjoy these long ones. I liked that you two took your time and didn't try to rush thru the doldrums by running that engine, like a stink boat. I also enjoyed this adventure more due to the loving way you guys treated each other.....thank you for this neat video.....
Hi Ed, Thanks for your kind words, we are lucky to have such a good boat which sails well even in light winds.
Many thanks for posting this! This video gives a great sense of what it is like on a trans ocean sail.
Ive just started watching these sailing documentaries and wooow god is amazing!! Travel the world on the power of his wind! You people dont know how blessed you are
Why do you feel the need to bring religious belief into it? The world is beautiful. Just let us all enjoy the clip without the bible bashing, eh.
Because thats the truth! Sailing around the world with free power of the wind of god!
@@Yeshua73732 I reckon you're having a laugh but assuming not, it's not the truth, it's your personal belief and I respect that. Do you see me arguing an opposing view? No.
Respect others' beliefs too, please, it's a lovely sailing video not an indoctrination opportunity.
They know... lol
@@lurkster1974 bet you're the life of the party huh😳
Over 4000 miles on 70 L - pretty impressive for 11 days in the doldrums! N‘joy!
Congrats on the crossing and nice video. Thanks for sharing
Congratulations a great lifetime achievement.
Just found your channel tonight and really enjoyed this episode, thanks to people like you I can see the world thru your lens and would not be able to do otherwise. Looking forward to catching up on all the back episodes, stay safe and have fun
You guys are my favorite sailing couple now I love both of your dispositions and fair winds.....
I enjoy see yours videos👍 - my boyfriend and I are sailor to😊 - only on the danish side because of my health but it is good enough - we both enjoy to see other sailing all over the world😊 thanks for yours videos - love yours adventures journeys😊
What a cool story.....you can really see how much you both are enjoying the ride
It's an excellent adventure for sure, thanks for sharing.
You are an inspiration, I will follow in your footsteps in a couple of years.
Just found and binge watched your vids. They are fantastic and so well filmed. Thank you for uploading, safe travels and more please.
Thank you for sharing! We are now in Panama, getting ready for the pacific crossing next year! Looks amazing! Fair winds 👌
I LOVE it !! i am preparing to leave in 2 years, its so refreshing to see someone sailing at my "pace" i like that you are doing it without this HUGE budget or sponsored sailboat , keep up the awesome videos !
Thanks, although if you know of anyone that wants to give us a huge budget or sponsorship we are all ears ;-) Truthfully, being self funded sets us free. No requirement to make regular videos or blog posts so we just make them when we want to (hence the current break from videos whilst we have been focusing on just living this amazing adventure).
Good luck with your preparations, you will never feel completely ready so just set a date and make sure you actually set off. It is so worth it. M&A
Hi MrSailorcal How is your preparation going? Anything to report?
Awesome videos. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for the reply y’all be safe and god bless your travels on the deep blue ocean 🤠cheers , from Texas
These are my favorite types of cruising videos - at sea. I live on land and have traveled quite a bit so cruisers videos of their time on land are much less interesting. I'd live to make a long passage like you made.
Good job on the video editing.
Thanks John Donaldson, glad you enjoyed it. The next video runs through a day at sea during our crossing so hopefully you will enjoy that too. We live on a boat and haven't visited the majority of places we are seeing so still find land pretty exciting!
You've just gained a new subscriber. First I've seen of your videos and love your easy going attitudes. A pure joy to watch, made me smile. Look forward to catching up with your other videos. Thank you for making this and congratulations on your crossing.
Love that drifter, makes so much more sense than a spinnaker on a cruising boat.
Whats a drifter? Is it like a different lind
@@johnesposito6068 A drifter tacks down on the bow and doesn't need a pole to hold out as apposed to a spiniker.
A drifter is also for light and max use up to fresh breeze.
Love the videos and the amazingly fresh looking crew after 28 days at sea. You two make is look so easy. Great videos. I'm not watching them in series but watching your older ones between your newest releases, currently approaching South Africa. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your amazing adventures.
I admire your skills, both of you. This is a great feat you have accomplished. I’m just not the sailing sort. I’ve had a few boats, but nothing I could sail. And thus is my love of flying, in my younger years. Now, at 75 I’m not going to five up my electric recliner. But, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to sail with you. I’ll sub, high five, and off we go. Thanks for the video and more that you shared!
Another fabulous vid. Thanks for inviting us along on your journey. The Marquesas look amazing.
Wow, this was great. One of the best trans Pacific videos I've seen. Very informative.
Thanks for the kind words George Moore!
Like someone previously has said, yours is a great lifetime achievement. Well done and of course - happy sailing wherever you go.
ive been binging on sailing videos for a few weeks and you guys win, this was my favourite one yet! What a privilige to live a life like this!
Thanks for sharing this nice video. Great achievement so far, well done. Wish you smooth sailing.
I wonder how I'd ever want to leave a place as bucolic as the Marquessas. It would take a long time to explore. How the heck could anyone dislike this video?
I contracted bucolic when I was seven. It can be quite dangerous to a little boy, but I was told it was best to get it before you go into publicity.
Great job you two, it’s obvious what a great team you two are together, so don’t let anyone ever convince you otherwise 😁 Onward!! 🙏🏻
Just a brilliant basil and episode! Loving gorging on you videos after only recently discovering your channel. Thank you for daring and sharing xxx
Awesome got me thrilled 😁 what a getaway
You are wonderful guys. Have a great journey!
E muita coragem fazer esta viagem Parabéns tudo de bom para vocês e continui mandando estes vídeos lindo ( Brasil )
Hi Guys
We are also new to your channel and will be playing catch up... keep up the good work your telling a great story
Great vid. Those arrival landscapes...love it.
Great to see you again. I have been following your excellent blogs but seeing the video is amazing. What a fantastic adventure you are on!!!
Thanks ToastandJam52
Congrats. You young couples must have planned it long ago and accordingly trained yourselves for the adventure. All along my life I loved being in the water espevially in the blue expanse. I envy you young couple. Keep it up.
Thank you for making us dream about sailing the pacific!
Fantastic series, excellent editing -really enjoyed season 1. Thanks very much!!
I've fantasized doing something like sailing to Austraslia but never found the chance, too bay with other things. But it's wonderful to see othersoing it! Thanks for sharing.
Accidentally found this channel and I love it
I really enjoyed this video. You guys are inspirational!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this episode. In just over two weeks I'm flying to Panama City from San Francisco where I'll meet a 37' Najad to make the journey you document in your video. I'm was excited before, and even more so now. Makes the visits to the dentist worthwhile! :) I'll catch more of your videos when I have the chance.
How did it go?
@@count7340It was a memorable event for me ... wonderful. It took us longer than anticipated at 39 days. We just didn't get the needed winds. Three of us crew altogether -- strangers as well. The skipper is Swedish, I'm American, and we had a Norwegian on board as well. I even celebrated my 70th birthday on the journey. Doesn't look like I mentioned in my original email, but the boat, Yemaya, is on youTube channel Knot Vikings.
From France, many thanks for this video.
Chris
I am scared of deep sea and sharks. I am no sailor and never owned a boat. I am under novice on rating. BUT This excites me still... I am gonna do this once, before i die. even if it means between islands, and not trans Pacific or Atlantic.
@Kenny H true that mate but stepping on land doesn't drown me. 😂🤣😂
You only live once man.. get it while you can
@@jasoncarson369 true that mate. Life is too short for all the fun.
Haha no doubt... best thing to do is grab it by the balls and ride that pony till it pukes 😂
I feel the exact same way. Those are deep fears of mine but I wan't to sail more then anything. Money is the only thing stopping me
FELICIDADES CHICOS . GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR EXCELENTE VIDEO. SALUDOS DESDE GUADALAJARA JALISCIENSES MÉXICO. ✌
Living vicariously through you two ❤️ I love the ocean, but unfortunately get terribly seasick. It seems amazing to travel and live in a boat, but i guess i gotta stick to a van home ;) job well done on taking us with you!
Watching u guys kind of really me feel gooood
Omg. I so enjoyed this video.
Beautifully edited video...thanks for sharing your journey
Thanks for allowing us (me) a view into your wonderful world and dreams. I never sailed, however; dreamed of doing what you are doing but a) no training or experiences and b) the wife would say "have fun honey" :-)
Thanks for sharing. Incredible views, inspiring video!
Love the freedom.....Awesome
No music and clear voice.. I love that
Very cool, and glad I've come across your channel, that is quite a crossing, and have always wanted to get to the Marquesas as she said, have friends who have, and friends who are going on a 51' next spring. Please film a lot at the islands, thank you, and fair winds and following seas to ya!
Thanks niceguy217, I hope your friends enjoy the Marquesas as much as we did (although the rest of French Polynesia is incredible too). We would definitely recommend making landfall in Fatu Hiva. We have a couple of videos coming up about our time in the islands.
Very good video, and hope to see more adventures as you cross the Pacific.
One of the best presentations I've seen so far! Well Done!
Simply lovely.
Very nice job :) Look forward to more videos. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe Neptune's more of a rum punch man. That's a great line.
Hello just started watching your channel after subscribing and enjoying following you guys now...lots more back episodes to catch up with so looking forward to that. Amazing just how comfortable and kitted out your 37' Oyster is from watching your episode on boat tour of Florence.
Great set on the kite. Excellent teamwork.
The view gets SPECTACULAR at 8:28😁 Great video guys. Iv'e been back and forth across those waters many times, although not in such a small boat😲 Keep up the great videos! Farewell and following seas!
I don't know how I stumbled across you guys, but you are great, What an effort well done to you. Now I must subscribe and check out the rest of your Vids ......... Take Care
You deserve more views. This is a really good video story with a lot to be learned. Great work!
Thanks Richard :-)
Woowwww,, so nice.. iloveyou this adventure,, you did great guys.. what a brave..
Fantastic video and thank you for making a great sea video. Yours is outstanding and beats everything I've seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You two love birds are living the life that I strive for
Good luck
This was a great video. It gave a good feel for what it might be like to sale across the ocean. Thanks.
Excellent film! And well done.
That squid was the perfect bait
WOW thanks from winter in Canada
Hello from Canada. That's a beautiful boat you have there. Lovely adventure. Thanks for sharing. :)
Cool video! Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding, thank you.
I like the way you show a lot more. About life at sea a lot of these chanels is like watching a them on vacation not much about the actual sailing keep it up
Never go sailing. We went in a 45 ft ketch in 19 92 and are still at it. We did it for 6 years until King Neptune took us under. . . . . In the vast expanses of the Pacific. There is nothing like losing ur earthly life at sea. Swimming with the dolphins now day & night. Escorting the odd lonely yacht now & then also to just see the latest technology used these days. Fascinating not being seen on board. The catamarans are really something these days. Very interesting younger people sailing now & making a living off it. Happy sailing & fair winds. 😅😨
What the fuck
Thanks for the video and statistics at the end. Safe journeys.
Great video! We are starting from the beginning! You are a very nice young couple♥️
Well done! A fantastic acheivment!
