Teaching the Socratic method using modern teaching techniques of just explaining concepts is the most retrogressive thing I've ever seen.

I think he’s calling out the irony of someone teaching the concept of the Socratic method by using a very non-Socratic method!

Most of the time we don’t know that we don’t know what we need to know. That’s why we are ignorant and even then we don’t know that we are ignorant and we are not looking for wisdom.
This proffessor is awesome, making a boring topic interesting & fun, clearly a genius who is spreading his knowledge to inferior peasants. This man deserves a Nobel peace prize.

There is a certain delightful irony when a monologue is used to explain the Socratic method of learning. If Socrates was teaching on what a monologue is, would he have used questions?

Socrates asking a simple question then more specific question based on an answer and another question and kept giving such questions untill a logical conclusion is archived by a person who is being asked

Good summary of the Socratic method. Ironically, if used properly towards a person of faith, they'd be left scratching their head as to why they believe what they do.
And if used properly towards a person who either doesn't believe God exists or doesn't put their trust (faith) in Him, they would be left scratching their head wondering why it is they believe what they have believed and would cause them to understand that God in fact does exist and is trust worthy.
@@adamstruthjourney1226 yeah, I could see that happening to some people. It probably depends on the person, their experiences and where they are at spiritually.
I think you're point is correct. Assumptions need challenging in relation to faith. So many christians defend faith by referring to the bible assuming it is true and divine and often use the bible to then defend the validity of the bible.
@justinradford4858 Well, another way to look at it is they defend it by referring to the words and interactions of Jesus as recorded in the bible. No one can read all his words and find fault with them. If you're going to defend following Jesus, where else can you go but to the words and actions of the man you are defending?

I'd argue that Socrates was more of a Christian than most "Christians" these days, and that the true form of Judaism is found through the socratic method...because its based on Biblical fundementals.
@@dw-rh6fb Socrates was not a Christian nor a Jew. He was a pagan humanist. Most Christians today wrongly put the word of man like Socrates above the Word of God. Sad.
My method is socratic from birth.
