French bread , French fries, French dressing and to drink perruu lol ugh 2.00 lol such a great movie.
" I want my two dollars!"
I'll never forget the kid chasing John Cusack down the ski slope on a ski bike!
This was so wonderful to see! I am 53, so these 80s movies are some of my favorites! You do such a great job researching. I had no idea that John Cusack hated the movie and walked out of the screening. WOW!
"Buck up little camper, we'll beat that slope together." - Charles DeMar
One of my all time favorite movies from any decade. Nice one, Jordan
It's a great one!
That's a shame when folks be throwin away a perfectly good white boy
I think the Men At Work movie stole that same line..
This was my favourite movie growing up
The two guys that stop him to race was funny as well.
I liked the brother building a rocket and picking up chicks
Omgosh...!! I loved that movie when it came out . I was about 13 or 14 when it came out . I remember being down in my grandparent's din when I 1st watched it . I have an uncle that is only 3 yrs older than me . We grew up together and we loved this movie !!! Even my grandparent's like this movie . The best part is when Lane and Monique fix the Camaro up and finally get together . I had a friend that looked just like Monique . I have this movie on a CD and now my family loves watching it . I'm so.... glad you made this video !! I love it !! Thanks Jordan !!
My childhood was spent playing every sport and planning on becoming a professional and about 3 blocks away John Cusack and Joannie Cusack with Jeremy Piven and Steve Pink spent all their energy and time learning acting and being part of Jeremy Pivens fathers "Piven theater Workshop" now looking back everyone just thought that someday they'll find out that breaking into movies and acting is a long shot and all that acting would just be something that they all did as youngsters and when they grew up it's off to college or construction sites or something the rest of us Evanston IL people did but nope.fate had great success in store for both Cusaks and Jeremy Piven!!! I enjoy the story because it shows that a person can work hard and end up very successful. Especially at this day and age Its nice to see some childhood friends do good.
"I want my 2 dollars!"😳 We still say this!🤣
Jordan, you picked one of the hidden gems of '80's comedies. Just like "Moving Violations", this has lots of funny scenes and quotes that still make me laugh. So many scenes in this one that it very hard to pick which one is the funniest. One of the funniest scenes I remember is when Lane was trying to kill himself via drinking turpentine. Then before he drinks it, he is summoned to dinner. Ricky's mom sitting at the table later accidentally drinks it thinking it is hard liquor and lights up a cig, and Lane says, "No wait Mrs. ....!!" BOOM. Next we see Ricky, Lane and Monique in the car and he says, "Gee, I'm sorry your Mom blew up, Ricky... I guess she won't be able to eat spicy foods for a while". Every where I see a sign with "$2.00", my mind automatically quotes the line from the newspaper boy with the intimidating voice, "Two Dollars....cash!" LOL.
We also see the late comedian Taylor Negron as the post man. He also played a funny bit in "Young Doctors in Love", that was another good early 80's comedy that had A LOT of notable actors in it, both then and later. Ironically he also was in another dark comedy of sorts, "Punch Line" with Tom Hanks, which was probably one of the most notable movies that touched upon the inside life and struggle of aspiring comedians in the modern age.
Elizabeth Daily was also in "Valley Girl", perhaps one of her first roles.
Did not know John Cusack did not like the movie. If he walked out, that had to be bad. Note to self: "Don't quote a movie line from Better off Dead if ever meeting John Cusack". :-)
Cheers, Jeff
I loved the movie , " Valley Girls " too . Another movie that was my favs...
JW222 I grew up 5 houses awa from Lanes house. Side note...the school they went to the dance at was an abandoned school in La Crescenta. Clark Jr High. I played basketball in that gym while in Jr High before it was closed down.
"Go down as fast as you can .. if something comes, you turn"!!! One of the best movies of all time.. Thanks Jordan for reliving those moments.
You just made my day! One of my all time favorite movies and soundtracks. The soundtrack is almost impossible to find now. I bought it back in the 90’s.
Wow John Cusack was so young, I remember this movie
It's always been shocking to me when I heard someone had never seen this movie! I love and even showed it to both my sons and they also loved it!
Yes! This film is funny. Nice filming locations. 2 Dollars, 2 Dollars! LOL
Gee Johnny, I don't have a dime.
I love old John Cusack movies and I love filming location vlogs! This was just what I needed today. Great job!
One of my favorites, this and one crazy summer are some of his best work.
John Cusack is definitely one of my favorite actors to watch. I just recently watched Love and Mercy. He portrayed Brian Wilson in it......
This movie is so underrated. My entire family loves this movie & quote it all the time.
One of my all time favorite movies. I was working at a video store in cave creek Arizona in 1987 and when they got that movie i watched it over and over. They only had one copy of each movie so if it didn't go out that night i took it hime to watch again.
Jord!! This is one of our all time favorite movies!!!! I know every line !! Just about freaked out this morning when I saw the header for the Vlog!!! And That’s where I fell in love with Cameros!!! Great job!!!!🙏🏻❣️😎
Haven't seen that movie in a long time. This was awesome seeing the filming locations. Now I have to rewatch the movie!

Oh I loved that movie. That was probably one of the first movies I watched with John Cusack in it.
Thanks for doing this vlog. I talk about this movie to friends and how funny it is. No one remembers it! I loved this move. “I want my $2 dollars”!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE so many movies from the 80s... John cusack is a favorite. Great vlog. What a great film. So funny!! “Two dollars!!” Scariest paperboy ever.🤣
Oh my gosh, one of my all time favorite movies in the whole wide world! Such a great 80's classic for sure and for me, the best part is the animated hamburgers singing Everybody Wants Some. But the entire movie is ace. I remember introducing Better Off Dead to my son when he was maybe like 6 or 7 years old because we would have movie nights on Friday's and it was my turn to pick a movie for us to watch. I thought he would enjoy it and he did. Hahaha, for the longest time, he would go around doing his impression of the paper boy! Fun vlog, Jordan, thanks!!!!!

Such a classic, saw this multiple times in the theatre as a teen when it came out...thanks for the Vlog!
Love 80’s movies and this vlog that you did was great! I look forward every morning to watching your vlogs, that I just discovered a few weeks ago. You picked a great movie and it was fun to see all the locations. (I think I have a movie to put on my “watch list” since I haven’t watched that one since the 80’s! Thanks!! 😀
That was great! Thanks Jordan. I remember watching this in the theater with friends in high school. Classic movie.
This movie was my all time favorite. Must have watched 100 times on VHS
I grew up 5 houses away from Lanes home in Glendale. My mom still lives in that house. That home never had a garage door with windows. The movie company installed it just for the movie. I watched them film a couple of times but we had a lot of stuff filmed in our neighborhood so it wasn’t really a big deal. They filmed a movie with Beau Bridges and a commercial for Johnny Carson’s tonight show at my parents house. Back then in the 80’s the movie companies paid $800 a day to use your home.
i love better off dead, until now i'm still watching it, it became a traditional christmas movie, awesome movie
I still use" I want my 2 dollars" to this day!!!! LOL!😁👍
Omg Better off Dead and One Crazy Summer were awesome movies ! Just One of the Guys too is one of my favorites!
Better off Dead is hilarious 80s comedy. One of the best. I think it gained popularity being played in HBO.
Thanks for making an effort to produce these wonderful vlogs.
Jordan!! I am so glad you did this one!! Such a classic and SOOO underrated- one of the best along with “one crazy summer”! Love it! Thank you!! 👍🏼😄
Been a long time since I've seen this movie, I think I can remember Barney Rubble asking Lane if it was OK for him to date Beth.
Classic 80's movie. One of my all-time favorites. Great video.
Great movie! Thanks for the vlog!

“Damn shame...throwing away a perfectly good white boy.”
Love the quote from this movie " All you need is small taste of success and you'll find it suits you." This is definitely a classic worth watching now and again. Love it!!
I have never seen that movie, only a handful of 80's movies. My oldest son was born in '81 so I didn't really have a chance to go to the movies for quite a time. I have to be honest, I've never even heard of this one. I will have to look for it. Thanks, Jordan!
I’ve been meaning to ask you about the locations for this awesome movie 👍 Nice Work Bud

Amazing location vlog...brought back some old school memories!! Better off Dead is one of my all-time 80's faves, along with One Hot Summer, & of course the classic brat pack high school trifecta of Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club & Sixteen Candles. Will definitely be watching if/when you get to some of those sites. Thank you, loved this!! Oh...and I WANT MY TWOOOOO DOLLARSSSSSS!!!!!
Can't imagine people not liking this film. Super funny.
My fav 80's flick-I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!!!
Definitely going to check out Better off Dead. It sounds hilarious. Great seeing the old architecture, glad it's saved.
Love this movie! You wash your hands on your own time boy, now get to work! Still use this line!
Never heard of this movie. But I enjoyed watching your video about it. :)
That's the guy from Porky's (his boss).
This 🎥is hilarious, the Badger's smartness & adult feelings, Lane's lost himself and place himself well together, Mrs. Meyer doin cra-zay cooking, a boy demanding 2 dollars, and a couple teens wanting a race.
This is my boyfriends favorite movie. He's always quoting it.
Love this movie!

Love,this movie
That's my friend's childhood home (his parents still live there today). They were put up in a hotel for a few weeks during filming of the movie.
That last shot of the palm trees reminded me of the big W in Its A Mad Mad World.🌴
Great job really funny movie
Great pick Jordan. The $2 paperboy is classic, quote it all the time. I do remember the scene where I believe Lane jumps off a bridge and lands in a garbage truck and someone says something like, "now that's a shame, folks be throw'in away a perfectly good white boy". :)
Great video.
Brings back fond memories 😊
I think it was actually one crazy summer that John Cusack walked out from the screening.
I tried to watch it and its truly awful.
💙 Thank you.
Thanks Jordan I really Loved this movie. It's to bad John didn't recognize what a Great movie this was. I still today use some of the lines in it. Like Franch Bread, Peru and I want my two dollars! Living on the east coast I would probably never be able to see these places. So once again Thank You for your time and hard work.
Great flick
Great movie
That was fun! Thanks for the rip down memory lane! I’m always quoting from 80’s movies and loved the quotes from this one. The millennials don’t get it so it’s fun that you do!!! 😁❤️
Omg I was so excited to see this one! It’s one of my favorite movies ever!!!!! Thanks so much Jordan!!
Very cool, enjoyed this. How about Fast Times at Ridgemont High?
“KEEEEEYYYYYYYYYS!!!” - Lane Myers
"So, it wasn’t that I hated the movie or hated anything. I just didn’t want to keep talking about it.
“And I felt terrible about it, because if the actors or the director [thought that I hated it], that was on me. I never really thought about it. I was just on to the next thing. I was like 17 years old …" - John Cusack June 15, 2015
