@@302Camaro make sure your pressing down with the palm of your hand prior to pushing the keys in. Once you put pressure down on the box with your hand, take your thumb and your fingers and do them about at the same time. Squeeze them at the same time and it will open fairly easy. It took a little practice, but I’ve got it down pretty well now. at first I struggled.
The price is ridiculous for something all plastic except for a few screws and springs. I can get a decent all-steel lock box for half the price, which shows how overpriced this is. I can see the possible application for this. But not for the crazy price.
So what alternate would you recommend? Honestly searching for an option. Thank you!

yeah the issue is a combo lock at night is not ideal next to the bed. Right now their BOGO deal is the only reason I'm looking at it at all.

It opened on accident. He had to use his second hand to separate the lids, but it seems gravity is enough to have it open effortlessly SOMETIMES. Not a guarantee.

As stated. Not meant to keep everyone out. Only for slowing the process. If you are dumb enough to lay a gun in the open then you are dumb enough to think this is secure protection. 🤦🏽♂️
This would be a great solution for $50 to $70, not $129. If you want to support American manufacturing, you're gonna have to innovate further, spend more money on process development, not Facebook ads. I'd bet Zuck is Stopbox biggest expense.

That handgun is g19 size correct? I am worried a g17 with threaded barrel and holosun 507 wont fit. Any idea?

I know it’s been a year but My g17 with optic and light doesn’t fit in the stop box with the magazine inserted.
Neither does a Glock 26, without fear of breaking the hinge or the box

When I originally saw this, I was all in, but then I watched video after video of people handing them to their kids, and 30 seconds later the kid had it open. Too few combinations. Also, the electronic Vaultek Lifepod is better, cheaper, and TSA compliant. If this was 1/4 the price, I would use it as a case for my more expensive handguns, and then place the whole thing in a much larger gun safe. So for me it's a hard pass. What could they do to make it safer? Mirror the buttons to the other side so both hands have to press buttons to open it. 10 buttons total.
I recently recieved their newest box and it has quite a few improvements including improvements in the combination possibilities. I'll be making a new review video showing the changes very soon and addressing a lot of the comments I've seen on this video.

This is a great idea for next to bed, etc. However!!! It does NOT open as easily as in the video. I can't imagine being able to open it in the middle of the night in the dark. Very hard to lift top with only one hand.
Just curious what makes it more difficult in your opinion? Just getting your fingers to the right spot?

You have to press down on the lid to unlock, but then up on the lid to open it? All while it’s sliding around a bit? Seems like a bad design for a critical safety device.
It's spring loaded, so when you push down and apply the finger code, as soon as you release it opens. You can see how quickly I am able to operate it in the video. Much faster than any keycode combination or thumbprint reader device. .

It can be done with a single hand. I open the box with a single hand throughout the video.
Phhhh not at that price. If it were steel or aluminum maybe.
They had a bogo deal and the third one for 60 instead of 150 so i picked up 3 and im giving one as a gift. That means i essentially paid $70 a piece, personally i think they should sell these for $50 a piece especially when i could go to harbor freight and buy a steel lock and key box for $20 so for the cost of one of these on sale i cpuld get three steel ones.
That being said I agree it's a good option for those who like a bedside gun that's less visible and less easy for a kid to grab
It's definitely a higher price point for what it is. I'm almost three years into using mine and it works great. I'd still buy another one if it ended up breaking.

What would be better? What examples do you have that is a locked box that keeps your firearm safe from others who aren’t supposed to access it, and is in your budget range?
Ok, tough guy. I dare you to buy one and try to break the polycarbonate shell in 5 minutes. You won't. This is to stop thieves or keep a gun out of reach from those that don't know how to open. It also comes with a lock and cable if you choose. That way a thief can't run off with your locked box.
My Glock 17 gen 3 with a RMR and TLR-1 does not fit in the stop box with magazine inserted.
I feel the combination is to easy to guess on this device.
I’m kind of mad that they advertise this as a safe by saying that they don’t want electronics and batteries to get in the way of accessing a gun… which is a subtle way of saying that it’s some kind of safe

That's completely state dependant. I don't believe you can in California. Here in Arizona we can.

What does “trouble closing” mean? Is your pistol perhaps a bit big, or perhaps the foam needs to create “memory” to the shape of your pistol?

It's not designed for it, but there are rubber feet on the bottom that can be peeled off and have an indent in the base. You could easily drill through to attach it to a table.

Received two as a gift from someone who is not a gun person at all. It's a shame they spent so much money on these...they're worth maybe $20 at most. If you just jam all the keys at once, it will open. This will keep out someone whose hands aren't large or strong enough to hit the buttons...maybe...but I would not trust this thing to keep a 5 year old out of it. To be honest, I wouldn't trust this thing to keep a 2 year old out indefinitely. I can't think of a use case where this is sufficient protection for a loaded gun.

Correct. It can easily be stolen (doesn't attach to anything) and only has a handful of combination possibilities so any adult or teen could open it. Mainly for concealment and young child proofing.
I got one and regretted it immediately. It's crap plastic and barely fits my S&W MP9
Sorry to hear that! I still have the same box and use it daily. I agree they could make it feel more durable though. Although, after probably a thousand opens and closes throughout the last three years it hasn't had any issues for me.
titan gun vault is way better and is the only approved Calif DOJ device for autos

Yep, the Titan is more secure than this box, but the Titan also is 1) much more obvious that it is a “safe” and something a perp might want to steal, 2) is more bulky and less portable, and 3) a person can almost buy six (at the 2 for 1 deal) if these boxes for the price of one Titan Compact.

I appreciate the review. Personally, I wouldn't have included the default opening combination in the video, or in writing, because you'be now exposed it to anyone who didn't know that comes across one, like all the teens breaking into cars on Friday and Saturday nights, which defeats the purpose. So good job on that.
StopBox gives the default code on their main website. It's not a secret if anyone wanted to get it. It's a simple Google search away.

Out of the 37,000 views, I'm pretty sure none were criminals. This video was physically searched for by responsible gun owners. Highly doubt it was suggested. Also, you can change the combination.

There are a lot more than 6 combinations for this.
Besides the thumb, what are the max/min amount of fingers you need to unlock? I thought it was 2 and only 2? If so, that’s six combinations.
@@DavidJayCovington it's any combination of your four fingers. Which I think works out to something like 80 combinations
@@DavidJayCovington no, sorry. You're right. You need an additional apparatus to increase it to 81 combinations. The stock unit is only 6 combinations
@@InformalWarfare You are correct. Stock is 6 but you can expand it. I recently received their newest edition of the StopBox and it has quite a few improvements including in the combination department. I'll be doing a review on the new box very soon!

Got one. It's pure junk. If you have arthritis, carpal tunnel or missing a finger, you cant open it without pain or open it smoothly.
