This 70 yr old sister is so proud that our girls are aware at such a young age 💞
🙏🏼❣️
We see you babe
🩷
💕🥹
I bet the accoustics were killer in that building. Enough to give you goose bumps.
I get goosebumps everything I hear this song.
The song does that well enough on it's own tbh
Wish I'd been there singing with them-😍🤩
i got goosebumps rn
Seriously!!
Every. Single. Version. Of. This. Song. Is. GORGEOUS.
and SO powerful!
the way i INSTANTLY clicked when i saw this...
instant chills...
your music is amazing!
❤❤❤
Absolutely beautiful version, each new edition of Labour is like the different emotions felt and described in the song itself. Hurt, anger, frustration, desperation, disappointment, and everything in between. This song has a power that can't be explained ❤
You are so right, this song has haunted me for a year. Each one an exquisite sting.
“It’s not an act of love if you make her” are words that I desperately needed. Succinct, poignant, powerful, gutting. To my fellow One out of Threes, I see you and I’m with you.
💚
what is one out of threes?
@@mehlanie13 It's referring to the fact that about 1/3 women experience sexual assault, I think x
why is NO ONE talking about her voice? her execution is PERFECT
Her voice is also just like honey. Beautiful.
1:27 the way goosebumps was gradually building all over my body from my face to my toes as the words progressed
Me too!
i need this version on spotify its SOO GOOD, so haunting and soft yet still raging
This is THE song of our generation. I love it so much.
The chills when the choir kicks in ❤
Cacophony is rage, but so is this, this quiet, exhausted rage. Just beautiful.
Exhausted rage is the prefect descriptor
This song fills me first with so much rage. Then that rage turns to power. It's stunning. It sends ripples through the world for every woman and feme-person who hears it.
The fuck is a "feme-person" ?
You sound like an angel
What does an Angel sounds like? You would be dead😂
and look like one too
I LITERALLY WALKED PAST THE TATE MODERN TODAY BECAUSE OF UNI IN MILLWALL AND I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T HEAR THIS. I'M SO SAD 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It probably wasn't filmed when you walked past as it takes a while to edit videos!
Oh to have been hiding behind a column listening at The Tate while you and these ethereal women performing LABOUR. I wouldn’t have known whether to cry or go screaming in the streets at the absolute oppression.
You have created an anthem, @ParisPaloma
I am full of gratitude and awe when I hear this song.
Thank you to @TateBritain for allowing the use of their amazing building for this performance! ❤
Your comment explained I feeling I had and didn’t know exactly what it was. You described it so beautifully that it gave me chills. ❤
This one is ESPECIALLY ethereal
I kicked my Husband out after 39 years of Marriage, I found him an apartment then he was pissed that I didn't set the apartment up & decorate it.
May i ask why did it not work out
Good for you!!
@NanDemoniya didn't she tell you in the comment
I had to laugh at this because it’s just funny how men are.
This song is such a phenomenal tribute to women. Beautiful and powerful. Heartbreaking and rousing. I can’t get enough of it.
2:35 aaa that last labour was beautiful, it was so crisp
She is flawless, her voice, her message and her composure, the true voice of our generation
love the girls on the back their harmonies are on point !
This song will be written in the history books. Our power and fight for our freedom from oppression is building and bending and it will send shocks through the world when it finally breaks to shore.
I need you to know that there is not a day that's passed since this song came out that I haven't had it stuck in my head.
As someone who has been deeply hurt by men and patriarchal standards, I find myself enraged by the fact that my experience is only a tiny fraction of what women have had to deal with in their lives and relationships. To have seen so many friends and family in these positions is beyond moving--it calls for action. Conversations with other men to hold them accountable, supporting others to get out of those toxic relationships, and loving and respecting the women in our lives with the utmost care and human decency--those are the first steps to making valuable changes.
So obsessed with the timbre & register of her voice 😫
I've watched this so many times and it still blows my mind. The effortless control of her gorgeous voice, the stunning dress, the backup vocalists and cellists, the location, the guitar.... I mean. This is an iconic performance.
Lyrics:
Why are you hanging on so tight
To the rope that I'm hanging from?
Off this island, this was an escape plan (this was an escape plan)
Carefully timed it, so let me go
And dive into the waves below
Who tends the orchards? Who fixes up the gables?
Emotional torture from the head of your high table
Who fetches the water from the rocky mountain spring?
And walk back down again to feel your words and their sharp sting
And I'm getting fucking tired
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died, would that be the worst thing?
For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The calloused skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ended, would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
You make me do too much labour
Apologies from my tongue, and never yours
Busy lapping from flowing cup and stabbing with your fork
I know you're a smart man (I know you're a smart man), and weaponise
The false incompetence, it's dominance under a guise
If we had a daughter, I'd watch and could not save her
The emotional torture, from the head of your high table
She'd do what you taught her, she'd meet the same cruel fate
So now I've gotta run, so I can undo this mistake
At least I've gotta try
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died, would that be the worst thing?
For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The calloused skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends, would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse then a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24-7, baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then virgin, nurse and a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24-7, baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day (the capillaries in my eyes)
Therapist, mother, maid (are bursting)
Nymph then virgin (if our love died)
Nurse and a servant (would that be the worst thing?)
Just an appendage (for somebody)
Live to attend him (I thought was my saviour)
So that (you sure make)
He never lifts a finger (me do a whole lot of labour)
24-7 (the calloused skin on)
Baby machine (my hands is crackin')
So he can live out (if our love ends)
His picket fence dreams (would that be a bad thing?)
It's not an act of love (and the silence)
If you make her (haunts our bed chamber)
You make me do too much labour
All the jobs she names are so essential to society and yet so unappreciated. ❤
The way excitement builds in every version of this song no matter the version honestly speaks to how amazing it is
its been over a year but i still get chills with this song
NEED ON SPOTIFY ASAPPPP
Every single version of this song is just perfect! Can’t get enough!
I cannot explain the process of emotion that I have gone through since the first release of this song.
It is now in my head to the point in Whit's randomly. I will start like coming along or murmuring along while dealing with my son.
Who will repeat the words back And try to sing along. He's 2
Does this red dress refer to the handmaid's tale ? Such a powerful song and version ❤️🔥
I thought that too!!
The world needs a Paris Paloma - Hozier duet.
SJKLDGJHIGHOIWJHG YES PLEASE
We can accomplish anything together! We, the women of the world, are United. #EnoughIsEnough
absolutely!!❤❤❤
Although the drums and the rage in the original version has its place, this version expresses a deeper sense of pain, suffering the acoustic compliments her words, and the very atmosphere of the hall beckons you to listen to every single thing she says. This more than a song, it's more than a story...it's generation of words hidden in the consciences and spirits of so many women and it's finally being brought to light...the silence of each lady in the past to present now echoes and blooms.
I know it's gonna be good before clicking when I see Paris Paloma💜
I literally got goosebumps when she started singing
Cant stop listening to this the clarity of her voice is stunning
i dont even have words anymore. I’ve cried so much to these lyrics
This song is fantastic. Also, that red dress is gorgeous.
I can’t wait for the album, every song you release is always incredible! ❤
I'm just in love for this song.
No matter which version I hear I will forever get chills and this has given me the most intense set of chills yet
It's too bad she had to skip the second verse (I'm assuming it was time constraints). It's my favorite part of the song with both the weaponized incompetence line and the fear of her daughter becoming the same as she's become with that man as her father.
This song makes me bawl but feel empowered at the same time
This song was always beautiful, but the chorus + cellist addition gives me chills. Amazing performance!
I love the building's acoustics, the more laid back sound, and her outfit!
wow this is so beautiful, the building is so aesthetic, she sounds so awesome and the song is obviously brilliant
Revolution!✊
This song will go down in the history books
Gives me chills every time
one of the most powerful and beautifully performed renditions of this song.
