Alex Lewis was 18 when he woke from a coma, not even knowing his name. He relied on Marcus to help rebuild his memories from scratch.
But what he didn't realise was that Marcus had decided not to remind him about a shocking family secret.

@@emmawer123 there's always someone who will blame the victims or accuse them of lying. They base their accusations on the lack of proof, but they don't have any proof for blaming the victims either.
I admire the brother for protecting him for as long as he did. It was out of love
it must have been so difficult for marcus to see alex grow to love the mother that abused them both
Marcus said how he also lived in that fantasy that their mother was a nice woman. It was a way to block what had happened.
@@SomeGal to some extent, yes. but he also commented on the fact that while alex and his mother bonded and talked, he would usually be somewhere on the outside just watching on. it's like he couldn't physically or emotionally be close to her even if he blocked it out, his subconscious knew.
The big question is: WHO WERE THIS WOMANS FRIENDS.
They should be named, every one of them.
It is absolutely sickening that the upper classes should be immune from public outing simply because of their position.

She must have a smart boss who choose the least psychopathic journalist to interview them. She seemed nice to me too.
After watching the documentary, the moment when Marcus comes clean about the "details" of the abuse I saw his face , and I felt like he still has a lot of details he's not giving away. He is tortured and I feel very sorry for him. This woman and all the paedophiles who abused her sons should all have payed for what they did. Real monsters among us.
i think it was pretty clear that he didn't go into ALL the details because it wasn't totally needed. it was outlined and that was enough. i think he most likely left out a lot of the details of abuse that happened outside of his mother. like the other men he brought them to.
I'm sure he did. Alex most probably still has more questions . Like how old were they when it started... but I respect that he also understands his brother's pain not to ask for more details.

@@doublefeature I also think the dad knew for sure and didn't care. And also he mentioned earlier in the documentary that they went on trips with other families. I don't even want to think of how horrendous it got.
Imagine the amount of love to do that for your brother.

I watched this on Netflix the other day. I think Marcus did the right thing by not telling Alex of the horrific abuse in their childhood. I wish I could forget my childhood.
Pick just those short, precious, fun moments and cherish them for life. Don't dwell on the painful stuff.

I think the trauma of his past life seemed to have made him forget everthing else. His own mind made him forget the worst. The only safe place was his brother and that's why he only remembered him.
nah, it was actual trauma from a physical injury. this is science. not trying to be rude or anything but it's not some form of mental disorder like DID or other trauma related disorders. if that were the case, he would have recalled his friends, his gf, etc.
@@doublefeature I know he had a physical trama that caused his problems but he only remembered his twin brother. Why? His brain didn't want to remember the trauma he faced from past abuse by parents
@@cheri7054 again, if that were the case, why wouldn't he remember his girlfriend or friends?? that's not how things work, he didn't lose his memory over an emotional or mental trauma, like people with DID or other trauma syndromes. people with those disorders don't lose their memories in the same way as someone with physical trauma. they still have access to them subconsciously and sometimes with therapy or the like, they are able to have some recall as the memories are really just hidden or buried as a way to cope. this man could not ever retain his memories with therapy or hypnosis or the like. and the very fact that his brother was INVOLVED with past abuse, aka intertwined in the memories of said abuse, means the mental/emotional/sexual trauma had nothing to do with his memory loss.
@@doublefeature Twin brothers have a special connection unlke anybody else. His brother lived with him in that abusive environment. It was shred experience. Tht's why he remembered his brother but in truth neither of us knows how the brain really works
@@cheri7054 that's why i believe he knew his brothers name, there is something about twins that have a connection that goes beyond most blood. that's one thing we can agree upon! the brain is truly a miraculous and mysterious thing.
The interviewer was authentic and beautiful. She presented the threads to weave together the greater story, rather than sensationalizing one part of their sacred story. Thank you..............a breath of fresh air for sure!

It’s very nice that he wanted his twin to remember a happy life and to spare from a bad one. Even though it would leave him nobody to talk to about the bad things anymore, he still painted that happy picture. It’s probably a good thing that the twin found out the truth. That way both could be there for each other again.
Not to mention deal with reality.
That's what I think. He wants him to remember the happy memories.He was in a serious life threatening accident. That means physically and emotionally he was very fragile. He had to recover from that accident. It would have been very traumatic for him if he was told what had gone on in his childhood.
My husband and I cried when watching their Documentary, it broke our hearts and made us so angry for them.

This is one of the most touching and powerful documentaries I've ever watched. I wish I had a twin brother like Marcus. "If he hadn't known who I was, then he would've been all alone in the world. But he wasn't alone in the world, he had me." This is simply pure love.

I’m so glad that they have found peace in each other again, after such a heartbreaking and traumatic experience.
All of the other abusers, at the discretion of their mother, need to be accountable for their actions. I'm sure that connections can be made from all of those letters of gratitude and love for their mother. They would shine a light on and establish who those people are.

Alex had to learn to live again. By withholding the traumatic information, Marcus gave Alex the freedom to blossom. The negativity would surely have impacted Alex's recovery.

Watched this a few days ago. I was glued to the tv. The shock when he found the pic,and then what his mother really was.
Just can’t believe a mother could do this to her boys.
I liked the interviewer too, she was empathetic and saw them as people who went through a traumatic experience not as a story piece. I really feel for these two, and glad that they have each other.
Truth can be really painful, but the truth often sets us free.

this was a well-made documentary. It is heart breaking to hear their story and see the trauma in Marcus's eyes of what they went thru. one of the best documentaries I have seen in awhile.
In watching it, I thought with the torture the older brother had..it would have been a blessing in a way if he just hadnt found that picture

Childhood sexual abuse is passed down through the generations - the mother was passing it down after her own abuse. These 2 brave men stopped it, and raise awareness for others to feel confident to do the same. It’s especially hard for men to admit, so I have so much respect ✊ for Markus and Alex 💯‼️
My husband and I just watched and the tears are flowing for those precious little boys who are now courageous and hopefully healed men....
The interviewer was really good. Such an awful and quite complicated story. Lovely men, glad they are back together and are happy with their own families.
Marcus is amazing. It breaks my heart how much this has broken him, I hope he recovers and his twin never gets his childhood memories back.
I’m so glad they have each other and it was a heart breaking docu to watch, what Marcus did for his brother all those years was something out of pure love for his brother it’s amazing I have so much respect for him.
It was so upsetting to watch and very raw. Marcus did what I’d do and hide that secret, despite what he said I think it took a lot of strength to keep it in for as long as he did

Their relationship is such an amazing example of unconditional love, I believe Marcus was very brave & needed the emotional reset of his memory to be free of pain and he truly gifted that to his brother, I’m in complete awe of both of them ❤️

What an amazing testament to the love that Marcus had for his brother. This is a very moving documentary! A must see, for anyone who has been abused and especially for twins.
The fact that they weren't allowed in their house and was made to stay in a shed outside of the main house is disturbing. There are more horrors to be unraveled with their "parents" i feel.

This film was riveting. What a gift Marcus gave Alex and yet, it was not without negatives. These men are quite amazing.
I'm glad that even in my pain I was able to discuss my abusive upbringing. Because as I moved through it it healed and I came to a good place a lot faster then many. I was on a good course by 28. Not a lifetime. and the lessons I have learned I have been able to use to help other youth process their grief and abuse. These two are helping more people then they know. The light at the end of the tunnel.

I've watched this documentary 10 times and I learned something new and feel a different emotion each time I watch it. I wish I could meet these guys they are incredible

i think he actaully saved him twice. First time was when he put a final stop to the madness both were living
How was it possible for their dad not to know of what their mother was doing. Just the way he was distant not going to see Alex at the hospital and then later instead of giving him a hug he only shook his hand. Lastly why would he ask for forgiveness at his deathbed? I believe that he had to know something about it, although the mother was at the end who controlled the situation back then. I say that both parents were responsible for what happened to the twins.
Jazmine L i think he knew too, and was jealous of the “mothers love/attention(ew)” for her sons rather than her husband once she started abusing them... and the hidden presents, i wonder if that waasn’t both of the parents... keeping them in the shed.. but yeah asking for forgiveness is the main red flag

I admire Marcus for protect Alex and give him the childhood he could not have but is brother could. The way he protect the thruth from his brother was the most beautiful true love. They are so wonderful as soul mates. This is the best documentary i ever saw, i couldn't stop my tears everytime i saw the pain in the're eyes. I wish them a really wonderful wonderful life. ❤
This documentary was just so good. The way it was presented was perfect. But I admit I sobbed hearing what Marcus remembered and knowing it was the first time Alex heard it..... its bad enough their mother did what they did but knowing that other adults were involved... adults who were probably well known just makes me wonder if this is a part of a bigger secret... that even these twins aren’t aware of. The Jeffery Epstein case has really ,Ade me wonder just how connected, large, intertwined, and dark sex trafficking is in the world as a whole.... they said it was aristocrats involved and knowing that a Prince was involved with Epstein I wouldn’t be surprised if all these people run in the same circles
These men, fathers, husbands (grandfathers now or in future) are so incredibly brave to share their story. The original story of Alex losing his memory was so interesting I had no idea that it’d lead where it did. I was a sobbing mess the entire time.
Adult amnesia often a symptom of the mind trying to ditch trauma. So they both hid it in their own way

This documentary was unbelievable!! Everyone should watch it, it is just fantastic, yet so sad, I feel so bad for these two, and would never believe how it flips and what actually happened to them both in the past😩😩

This documentary was truly so amazing and I found myself on the literal edge of my seat! Marcus and Alex are amazing men for being able to construct their lives after everything. But I can’t grasp the magnitude and stress and turmoil Marcus was under keeping up this secret and also realizing he was still surviving the past abuse that he endured. This story is so great and it reminds me that there are some really horrible and disgusting people in this world, but there are also resilient and amazing people like the twins.

What a difficult story to tell but I don’t blame the brother for protecting him from the truth. He really did it to protect him and of course hindsight is a wonderful thing but his poor brother was recovering from a serious brain injury.
I’d love to know more about their parents lives who they were and who were their friends I hope he gets some strength to report the people concerned if anyone is alive still.
I just finished the Netflix documentary and it was shocking, heartbreaking and scary. I admire Marcus for trying to protect Alex for all those years. Glad that Alex finally got the answers he needed and that they both can now find the peace they deserve.

Denial of the truth isn't exactly helpful though. I know this guy's heart was in the right place, but I'm not sure I agree with it. I can see how it would be tough to pick a good time to tell him such a horrendous thing though.

These two are extraordinary human beings. They pulled through and build successful lives through sheer will power and also love for each other. So very articulate and intelligent.
I watched the film a few weeks ago, why is no one questioning why they havnt went to the police ? Yes the mother is dead but what about all the other abusers they were passed around. Like the artist, if they did it to them the chances are there are more victims!

I think he did know, but choose to deny and ignore which may explain his distant mean attitude towards the boys. It is highly likely his wife was very harsh and did not love him emotionally or physically. He couldn't control her so he disconnected,
Sherese James-Grow to be fair this wasn’t a normal home, and i doubt the parents slept together, or barely co existed. It’s mentioned that their Dad would stay in his wing of the house and rarely come out
