There’s maybe a handful of perfect songs. This is one of them.
Whoever that woman was, and wherever she is, thank you for breaking his heart!!This song is pure gold. 😢
Agree.....totally relate
It was your girlfriend
Imagine the ego she developed. 😂😂
Her name is Beth
It’s Eddie Vender’s most rawest performance and personal experience with heartbreak.
Birth 😢
One of those moments that you realize you just saw something special..
The entire 'Ten' album is a masterpeace. Letters with depth and a perfect Grunge vibe. Definitely one of the best rock albums ever produced.
@C Summers I agree, but it's just a way of classifying one of rock's many genres. Just as all bands are unique even within other classifications, such as progressive, classic, alternative, anyway. How to classify the 'Rush' for example? It's just a label to distinguish bands from the same era with some roots in common.
@@user-xr9tp5kl5r I was 17 when Ten was released. Everyone called it Grunge. The radio. MTV. Any and all advertising.
This song was about a stillborn/miscarriage situation that resulted in a breakup. “Legs spread out before me, as HER body once DID.” Giving birth. “All five horizons revolve around the soul.” Describing the baby: head, arms, and legs. Then, the moment of happiness sours. “Now the air I taste and I breathe has taken a turn.” Goes on to talk about hearing kids laughing, but it makes him sear inside, presumably because he expected to hear his own kid laugh one day and no that won’t even happen. Absolutely devastating to imagine.
The man, the legend.
Pearl Jam - Porch from MTV Unplugged is one of their best performances!
Even Flow should be the next song. The video is clips from there home town concert in Seattle. Great song.
Great reaction.Thank you for not interrupting. This is why you are a great reactor. Thank you.
I first heard Eddie with Chris Cornell in Hunger Strike with Temple of the Dog. Amazing! Thanks for featuring Black.
Excellent review....the backstory on that song is quite sad. 😢
I saw this on MTV Unplugged when it came out and I was blown away by how good they are live and unplugged. Unplugged had the Eagles perform and it was great too. Unplugged was like acoustic concerts. I miss the MTV of the 80's and 90's.
One of the greatest performances of any song ever in the history of music. Eddie is in another world here and just on another level.
I agree!
Eddie is a story teller
Daaaammmnnnnn Eddie👍👍👍
Eddie Vedded and Pearl Jam are widely considered (and are) The Greatest “LIVE” American Rock Band of ALL TIME! Eddie’s back story is one of the most incredible and Sad stories its a must research and read about Him. His Lyrics, raw emotion, and overall Music comes from these incredible Life experiences that He went through from Childhood till adulthood.
Pure emotion of letting someone you love go...
Got to see them live last year and honestly his voice has only gotten better, definitely the highlight of my year.
Eddie was dealing with a bad cold when he sang this performance
Unplugged is by far the best version, Eddie Vedder gave one of his finest performances in this!
Great reaction Inna, you really got it 😊
Jeremy would be a really great follow up to this, it’s maybe even better!
Great performance I'm from Brazil 🇧🇷
Warmest greetings from Vancouver 🇨🇦
My uncle was lucky enough to be an audio tech in Seattle when Pearl Jam, Nirvana, were breaking through . He had an opportunity to meet all the members of both those bands and he says to this day, Eddie Vedder is one of the nicest people ever wanna meet and also one of the most unique voices around..
I highly recommend watching Jeremy the official video . Also Evenflo official video is also very good.
Would like to see you get into Led Zeppelin, whole Lotta. Love, heartbreaker, good Times, bad Times, rock ‘n’ roll, dazed and confused. The official videos of these would be perfectly fine from the Led Zeppelin CZcams channel
"Jeremy" is a great choice for your next Pearl Jam reaction. Also, they have other great songs like "Even Flow", "Porch" and "Release" too.
Uncensored, please
The official music video for “Jeremy” was the final one the band filmed; after that they decided to discontinue making them. But it’s extremely powerful and deep. I hesitate to recommend the uncensored version, though that will definitely have the most impact.
They made more after that. They just stopped for like 5 years
A wonderful reaction to a very powerful song. Every time I listen to Black I tear up ... every single time ... I feel the pain of lost love and you explained it excellent that many different people can relate to it. Eddy's voice is not from this world really and I feel so privileged to have been to a live concert of Pearl Jam and hear him sing live. Without a doubt you will also love the song Jeremy and I can't wait what you think about those lyrics. Thank you!
The little head-shake at 2.36 is because Eddie mixes up one of the lines, but it's unnoticeable if you didn't know the song.
But the correct line:
"I know she gave me all that she wore"
...had more Eddie magic on it.
Specifically the word 'she':
"I know she gave me all that sheeeeeeeeeee wore".
He really knows how and when to hold a note.
Saw them live MANY years ago, and they were amazing.
Great review! You are absolutely right, It can relate to all forms of loss and this song was very hard for him to sing live because it opened the wound of his lost love every time and you could see towards the end of the performance.
Jeremy is one of their best songs and was controversial because suicide was a hot button topic at the time, and I believe it was censored from MTV.
Speaking of controversial, if you ever wanted to react to Tom Macdonald, he has a ton of music, but the genre is rap. He's not your average rapper, lol. He doesn't talk negatively and really makes you think. Every song he does makes you exercise your brain 🤔
You either love or hate him. There is not much in-between. I respect him for how creative he is and the visuals he has in his videos.
Just a suggestion.. But if you don't, that is totally understandable as the genre is different. His first song is called "Dear Rappers"
I like the way you did not stop the song and flow, great job!
If you do "jeremy" you have to do the official music video to get the full experience of the song. Its devastating, but the song and video highlights the dangers of bullying in school and the mental health decline it causes
Definitely. Also really sad how relevant it still is 30 years later.
Your eye color is super pretty, first thing I noticed, great reaction also I love this song and performance 😊
Great job with your reaction and thoughts on the song Black from Pearl Jam this is their live performance from The MTV unplugged . The Lead singer Eddie Vedar all most didn't do the show do to the Flu. Alot of people don't give the respect for the bass players Backup Vocals.
the last seatle grunge legend alive. if i could id put him in bubble wrap and use every saftey precation. i grew up on this and that how grunge sound. i know its not for everyone but it literally altered the course of music. Nirvanna, PJ, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. it was just a moment in time, i dont think we will ever get again.
The world started to end with the Internet. There's no going back to anything good.
Release Me...live at Wrigley field. I think it was 2015
2016 ❤
Now you need to do Peal Jam "Release" live in Holland 1992
Its a Song Eddie was very upset about putting on the album due to the overly causal nature of how people can see his pain.
It was so powerful to him that he made comment at one time that he heard people casually singing it once that he snapped and demanded they stop singing it.
Lots of hurt in it.
Pearl jam Nottingham
Great lyrics interpretation. It hits deeper the more let them sink in. Jeremy is a good choice for the next Pearl Jam. You should also check out Tool and “Sober” Puts a different angle on addiction from the POV of the addict’s and the addiction.
The lyrics really make the song. Using a lot of symbolism.
Keep On Rockin In The Free World ( live at pink pop ) Pearl Jam does an amazing job on it.
Ten is perfect. This was perfect.
Ive been to 11 PJ concerts - they are alllllll incredible.
Pretty 😍
Yes. It’s about letting go…..Poison, hastens this feeling.
I love this song, but even as a native English speaker, I need the lyrics to understand it. This song really captures his pain in this breakup. Nice reaction Inna. Love from NY.
Eddie is good at a great many things. Enunciation is not one of them. :)
This is one of the easiest to understand.
Lyrics won’t exactly match up with this vid. He messed em up at one point
Its not about letting go. It's about his being scarred (tattooed) by his first love, his perception of the world (loss of innocence) changing forever. You cant let go of a tattoo. I think the summary line is "All the love gone bad, turned my world to black. Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I'll be. Kind of the opposite of letting go.
Elderly Woman Behind the Counter In a Small Town
I've seen a lot of reaction videos to this song, some even comment his head shake as he sings "how quick the sun can drop away" but so far no one caught that he messed up the lyrics there. 😂 After " And all I taught was everything" comes "I know she gave me all that she would"😉
Yep.
And the original line is much better.
But I thought it was:
"I know she gave me all that she wore"
@@willygonutz9687 I was going to comment "yes, that what I wrote", but just realized I clicked the wrong suggestion while typing. Good catch 👍🏼
@@willygonutz9687 I think this version is better. I don't ever listen to the studio version of this. This one is the official version for me
Your analysis of the lyrics is spot on! The song is about letting go. It is assumed That the song is about his long relationship with musician Beth Liebling whom Vedder had been dating since 1983, whom he married in 1994 and divorced in 2000.Vedder said in a 2011 documentary that the song is about letting go. Your pick for the song Jeremy is an excellent choice. Hopefully it can be the official video.
Eddie has said that the song is about first love and how devastating it is when that first idealized relationship ends. The song was written while he was with Beth and he dedicates "Oceans" to her in the beginning of this Unplugged show. MTv edited it out but the unedited version is on CZcams.
And right at this moment it was, that music peaked and never reached that level again.
Told you this is my favorite Pearl Jam song, guess now you know why. It's no rough hard rock song, but it has such powerful lyrics and Eddie brings it with so much passion, I always get a bit emotional when I hear it.
Jeremy is a great next one, but don't forget about Even Flow as well.
About what you're saying at 7:12, one song that immediately comes to mind is In Loving memory from Alter Bridge. There's a good vid available on CZcams when they performed it at Wembley, if you want to react to that one.
Great reaction! Absolutely, Jeremy by Pearl Jam would definitely be a great follow up. Going against a lot of rock music reaction protocol, It’s probably best to go with the official vid, it just explains things perfectly!
JEREMY!!!!
Kurt and Layne still have number 1 and 2 on unplugged. IMHO.
Great reaction to one of my favorite performances. If you liked this one, consider watching Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged video of Where Did You Sleep Last Night. Another emotional performance in a great setting.
Yep, even as a longtime fan of the band, I think having the lyrics available is pretty much a requirement when dealing with Eddie Vedder.
Not only are you cute as a button, you've got great musical taste also. Lol. Really enjoyed this. 🙂
You love the masculine voice. Not many artists have that in them .
♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
Thank You Dear
🌹
Temple of the Dog .. Hunger Strike
Thank you very much for watching! ❤️ I’ll see you guys on twitch.tv/innasolo
Betterman from 2010 Live at Madison Square Gardens
Please react to Pearl Jam's unplugged version of "State of Love & Trust"!
Allot of passion it's good love the set too keep rocking your cool need more metal
Jeremy é sem dúvida uma das muitas interpretações vocais desse Eddie, q é espetacular como consegue paralisar c sua voz, eu simplismente fico abduzida ouvindo....n canso
❤
Love the acoustic versions of these Pearl Jam songs. Translates very well to those songs. Some other bands to check into(if you haven't yet) Def Leppard, Bon Jovi & Sonata Arctica
is it about letting go, OR - NOT letting go ...........?
If you like Eddie Vedder you should react to Temple of the Dog the song Hunger Strike. He did this with Chris Cornell before Pearl Jam.
It is time for you to do one of Jinjer's earlier compositions. This was from 2014 when Russia first took over Donbass and the Crimea. The song is Jinjer - Outlander. Please react to this... it is very loud but so well done.
Gotta dig through their B sides for their best lyrics... can't really make my mind on where to start, but from that era... I'd say probably Release Me or a bit later on Hold On... The list is long...
Listen to Nutshell by Alice and Chains
Great reaction... I agree100% about lyrics and your interpretation of them. This song speaks to that, as alot of people say this song is about his his girlfriend after her passing.. but listening to the lyrics to me it's about losing his daughter which is unbearable to think about and hits so deep. I'd like you to read the lyrics and let me know what your thoughts are... keep up the great work👍👌
react alice in chain drown in a hole acoustic
Jeremy. Do the uncensored version. That’s the whole point. Love your reactions
Great song. Would love to see you react to Evile - In Memoriam.
Eddie Vedder wrote this song about his divorce from his wife.
God I remember when this album came out. The days before mp3 an iPods were popular. It was just a cd/radio player. And my friend who was friend, who is full of drama and coincidently French background. Loved this band and we would have to hear the whole album, it sucked. I don’t call it grunge rock I called depression rock. As Vince McNeil said “I just don’t get grunge. I don’t need a song to tell me that life sucks and it’s unfair.”
But there was a happy ending to the story. The mighty MP3 player came out, and so didn’t, Napster. For a little while 😊
Huh. Nobody ever seems to mention that, while the performance is amazing, Eddie messed up.
"Now the air that I tasted and breathed has taken a turn
Ooh
And all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything
Oh the pictures have all been washed in black
Tattoed everything"
This verse isn't in this version.
He was pissed that he messed up. He sang here:
"And all I taught her was everything
How quick the sun can drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the bitches said, all been washed in black
Tattooed everything"
That's why there's more emphasis in the second time he sung the verse. He's pissed.
Even so, this whole show was an amazing showcase of pure musical talent from the whole band.
I see a lot of comments saying "React to 'Jeremy.'" Good song, but you should go for 'Release.'
React to Weird Fishes by Radiohead. It's a song about letting go from the perspective of leaving your partner for someone else and the guilt that goes with it. The lyrics are very metaphorical.
Really liked the audience of better man. @ madison Square garden. Makes you happy
This will surprise Many People when I write the opening lyrics down to this song but its the correct lyrics straight from Eddie/PJ catalog “Sheets of empty canvas untouched sheets of clay. Were laid spread out before Me as Her body once did.”
“All five horizons revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn
Ooh, and all I taught her was everything (that’s all)
Ooh, how quick the sun can drop away and now My bitter hands craddled broken glass of what was everything ohh all the pictures have all been washed in Black tattooed everything…
I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...
All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I will be...yeah...
Uh huh...uh huh...ooh...
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why, why, why
Can't it be, can't it be mine…ohh , ohhh yeah yeah ohhhh ohh ohh ohh no no ohhh
We, We belong , We belong together, ohhh
@@C_mey
In the studio version, after the line:
"...all I taught her was everything (that's all)",
The next line is:
"I know she gave me all that she wore"
Not,
"How quick the sun can drop away"
(Eddie mixed it up with the lyric that comes later in the song).
And he smashes it.
The second 'she' is drawn out.
'I know she gave me all that sheeeeeeeee wore"
One of my favourite parts of the song.
@@willygonutz9687 yes you are correct i realized that He switched the versus up and didnt feel like editing back lol. I appreciate the catch though! Eddie and the Band are true Geniuses! Just a little tidbit for You if You havent already seen but on You tube if You type in “Bad Radio” its Eddie’s very first Band and at a Talent Show He sings “Betterman” with His Band (in which was Wriitten By Eddie even before Mookie Blaylock/Pearl Jam. Pretty cool! Also Eddie’s Real Name is Edward Louis Severson III (AKA- Eddie Vedder) 👍
If you like lyrics, listen to yellow ledbetter… good luck
BLackbird by alter bridge please. If live look for the one at amsterdam.
Avenged sevenfold please
PS. you have an amazing eye color. A personal favorite Pearl Jam song is called, "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town". It's a beautiful song and one of the most touching songs Pearl Jam ever recorded. This isn't a request, just listen to it for your own personal pleasure. It's right up your alley. :) Beginning Lyrics >>>
I seem to recognize your face
Haunting, familiar yet, I can't seem to place it
Cannot find the candle of thought to light your name
Lifetimes are catching up with me
All these changes taking place
I wish I'd seen the place
But no one's ever taken me
Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away
Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...
Check out Alice in chains MTV unplugged, down in a hole. But the best performance is Alice in chains love hate love live at the Moore. It's about Layne and Demri his girlfriend.
Jeremy oficial music video
Even flow
Great reaction. Please now Tool. The Pot is is a good starting point.
Now you need to check out Alice in Chains unplugged version of Down in a Hole
... another mediocre band.
It’s about a breakup. Broken heart.
My first comment got wiped out by CZcams ugh
Eddie is notoriously hard to understand its almost a meme haha
I have a hard time listening to this version of 'Black' because Eddie fucks up at one point and repeats a verse in the wrong spot. I was always surprised they stuck with this version instead of going back and re-shooting it. Maybe they gave bands the option of doing different takes and PJ refused? Who knows.
I call Eddie old marble mouth as he is hard to understand. Yellow Ledbetter is one that sounds good but very hard to understand
Rear view mirror pearl jam.
Thank you for the suggestion 😊
One of my favourites.
Eddie really will destroy his voice for his fans.
Jimmy was an amazing drummer and a wonderful person. RIP Jimmy. He is missed
Wrong band
@@abrahamesparza01 I was watching another video when I was typing the comment and it changed right before I hit the button....lol
Just being honest here, I'm mostly subbing because Inna is beautiful woman with a beautiful face to look at.💗😍💋
I don’t understand the cat ears thing people do. Good reaction tho
The line “I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why
Why, why can't it be, oh can't it be mine?” Gets me every damn time
The album version is much more powerful.
HA, no...
I'm guessing your score is about 81. sad
