Lego Battle of Shanghai
At all cost !
After a lot of Problems with this Project, I present you my first big Pacific battle.
This Animation took me for some reason so many attempts, that I got like a Million cut out Scenes.
For me, this Animation is like the Spanish Civil War, I learned alot more how I can and cannot animate better.
This will influence my future Videos positively.
Nationalist Chinese and Imperial Japanese troops fight during the Second Sino Japanese War in the chinese City of Shanghai in 1937.
The german equipped Chinese try to fight off the better organised and prepared Japanese at during an attack in the heart of the City.
One of the Units, which defends the City, is the german trained 88th Division, which is potrayed in Field Grey in this Video.
The blue figures are in reality communist forces, which played no big role in the war, they're supposed to be normal infantry so excuse my wrong usage and lack of figures.
(Also, the chinese look german, because they use german supplied guns and uniforms)

To those who are going to ask the German VS Japanese question.
1. Chiang Kai Shiek's China was supported by Germans till 1941. However it was already wavering since 1940.
2. There are Divisions that were trained by Germans. 88th Chinese Division is one of them.
3. Chinese standard soldiers do wear German helmets and others like the British Brodie.
4. Their rifle the Chiang Kai Shiek rifle is directly similar to the Kar98k or the Mauser98
5. Blue uniforms are not restricted to only Communist Chinese soldiers. The more extreme nationalist parts of China wore blue also.
6. For some reason people say China did not have tanks. They did actually have a array of it all thanks to the Spanish Civil War. Panzer II and the T-26 for example.
7. Chinese soldiers would wear Japanese equipment due to Shanghai being slow on their supply runs.
8. It is not suprising to find most Chinese Divisions with straw slippers. The 100th Chinese Division is a example as everyone wore it and after every battle they would take Japanese boots off their dead corpses.
9. Most uniforms seen here are by the Nationalist China. Warlord soldiers have way different uniforms. So don't be surprised to see different versions.
Red Panzer Productions They're actually wearing the Communist 8th route army uniform in this video.
I did voice it to trycoldman. But China did wear blue uniforms. Not restricted to the Communists.
Red Panzer Productions ohh..I could only find the green/ brown nationalist uniform during 1937
Legomansfilmstudio 32 The blue uniforms are used by the extreme part of Nationalist China.
Red Panzer Productions I see..
1:23😂 I love how a guy lost his hand and is happy about it

that is funny
LMAO
He’s happy because he. The X button near him to respawn
Ow my hand is gone... *noice*

I can't wait until someone asks why Germans are fighting Japanese.
trycoldman23 why are the Japanese fighting the Germans? xD
They're not german are they they're Chinese right?
Yeah they are
Already explained it in the chat. This animation is fucking awesome. However it would be appreciated if you used the Green torsos for the Chinese troops and get rid of the Chinese armband. The armband was used by Communist forces and had little impact to the war.
Red Panzer Productions Noticed that soon after, but was already in the middle of animation c=
I got confused to who was fighting who and then I remembered that the Chinese had similar uniforms to the Germans
Well not similar.
They had some weapons and uniforms from the Germans.
And some from Soviet Union
@@rickycheng292 that was basically only the ccp and they didnt do jack to help fight japanese, they were very weak at the time too
@@DonBalamand had british and german weapons
Like the bren gun etc
Hey, man I see you did an wonderfull job with this project. Doing a battle in the Second Sino-Japanese War is kinda rare for brickfilmers. You posted a long comment on mine Second Sino-Japanese War animation so I'm going to do the same. Altrough the uniforms aren't 100% acurate. Like the armband of the 8th route army. (I'm not going to bitch on that). You still did a great job on the animation. despide you shot it in 10 fps it was still smooth and nice.
I also love your I-Go tank design.
I also feel you when people ask about why the Germans are figting the Japanese in the comment section. The Chinese were trained and equipped by the Germans at the beginning of the war, but around 1940 they were mainly supplied by the US. They were also supplied by the Soviets.
It was an honor to help you out a bit with this project and I would love to see that our animations will spark an intrest in the Second Sino Japanese War in the community.
Thank you mate for you nice comment, I had alot of Trouble doing this Animation, but happy ,that it is liked by many.
Yes, I can see you put a lot of effort to it and you deserve the positive reactions from the people. Including myself. It was a honor to give you some advice during the process of making this film.
I'm trying to get enough figures for my own Changsha animation. Mind if I ask do you have any websites to recommend getting cheap figures? Or any tactics?
Well, I got mine from Brickmania, but I'm not sure if they sell them anymore. It's only the torso they sell. You can also check Hong Kong Toy Store (In the link of this video) for some cheap knock offs.
The torso's on Brickmania are around 6 dollars a piece. The Chinese in Changsha wore those German Kepi's and brodie helmets. There are no known photograpghic evidence of the M35 helmet used during all four battles by the Chinese, but it's save to asume they did as, the M35 helmet was also used by the central army and by the Collaborationist Chinese Army.
But wich battle of Changsha are you planning to do as there were four battle in and around the city of Changsha in 1939, 1941, 1942 and 1944?
It would be nice if you do it about your Great-grandfather.
710Legoman I'd rather get the real deal most of the time. I only get fake if no one does it.
Japan did win at Shanghai 1937, but the Chinese defended it very heavily, and it took a heavy toll on the Japanese, if you are showing that part of the battle. Aside from that, great job with the set and stop motion, and the suits for the figures are accurate considering the Chinese used German equipment.
Wdym the chinese suffered like 3x as many casualties as the japanese
@@bluegrizzly1053the battlefield was disadvantaged for China. Japanese have naval artillery to fire on Chinese divisions. One shell can destroy 2/3 of a Chinese division, Chiangs mistake was not using the fortified concrete bunkers behind Shanghai. The Chinese soldier wasn’t the problem
I made one about the battle of Nanking. Thank you for covering this war as well.I'm one of your biggest fan ! Keep it up !!
I can like imagine if the Chinese-German support survived Chang would have had many elite division enough to maybe hold back the Japanese
Sou Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
No time, 1937 was way too early to wage war against Japan. Like only a third of the planned divisions were trained. This include the 87th, 88th, 36th and the Supervisory Training Brigade

1:13-Please end my suffering =')
2:33 The only time a Panzer I comes in handy.
Tiger Sympathiser you basically said * the only time a tank 1 comes in handy* panzer is tank in German
@@Sgt-lott10 The Germans supplied the Chinese with weapons, tanks , helmets and uniforms. Go learn some history.
Brexit is a Failure what the heck does that have to do with what I Said, I just told him in German Panzer means tank it’s in the German language
@@Sgt-lott10 Are you sure you weren't correcting him?
Berry yeah it’s just a fun fact
Amazing video! Not a lot of Brickfilmers have made animations about the Second Sino-Japanese War (sadly it's underappreciated), so it's really cool to see a video like this! Keep it up! :)

Very good video, as far as I know though the Panzer I's were stationed at Nanking and it was predominantly Vickers Mk.E tanks and other British-bought vehicles used mainly in the actual Shanghai battle.
Wow! Just wow! I love it man!
Very good job, loved the suspenseful ending.
Probably your best work yet!

@@Martian_Productions It's a panzer I, beacause if it was a panzer II the turret would be on the left, not the right.

I really realy like the song of Japan at the end of this video!!!! I think you're so sensible. Also, this video's plot and subject are so good.
步兵の本領, skills of the soldier
Gosh you did some good lego animation I ever seen
Could easily have rearranged some props and changed the flag and said this was German defense of Berlin or something
Did you knew? Chinese troops were trained by Germans
"Why are the Germans fighting the Japanese?"

Wtf there aren't Germans
Actually they are Chinese with German equipment, read the description
