The Coca Leaf gives energy similar to caffeine and is good for the lungs and stomach, especially for high altitude and walking or working, also relieves hunger and numbs the mouth. The bag in video costed 6 soles=$1.50usd. Gotta chew a lot of leaves for effect.
@@WandererNirvana When i bought my bag in the mountains of Peru it came with a little round edible ball. I did not know what it was for. Then the next day backpacking a Quecha old woman asked me if i had any coca leafs. I said yes and offered her some. Then she grabbed the small round ball looking thing and bit into it. I found out later (as i am sure you know but your audience does not) that the round ball substance causes a aklaine response with the coca leafs for the effect you describe. My question is do your bags you are buying in the city come with the little round ball? I suspect not...
@@deepcoder1845 correct😀 need to add an alkaline substance to get the effect. Have to ask for it separate. Often it comes in the form of grey powder ash from quinoa plant also, or you could even add a pinch of baking soda. Just chewing the leaves alone don't give much effect. In Peru they say the word Tokra for the black substance or Llipta for the ash. In Bolivia they often chew with baking soda -Bica
Cool video Wanderer Nirvana thanks for sharing Peru seems like a nice place 😊👍

Neat video showing us what life is like in Peru!
No wonder Cusco is so popular, the views alone are amazing. Thanks for the tour WN!

How much is the coca and what are the effects? Is it stronger than an energy drink?
