I think 127 were more synchronized in first 2 years. After that they put each own style in their dance move, so sometimes they don't look same now but still high synchronizing level.
Thats how it should be if you are an artist in my opinion, it’s just normal to get your own style if you are as good at dancing as the boys in NCT. I’m happy they Show their own Styles since 2019 it adds more flavor and shows their growth as dancers

And im glad you watched the Japanese version coz it's MILES better lmao. And I agree, the Jaehyun Taeil and Doyoung combination is HEAVENLY (the vocals are too good ;;-;; one of my fav songs from them till today). If you wanna listen more from the trio id recommend Nct U without you (vocal line debut) and timeless! Other vocal line songs would be Make your day (from the new album neo zone repackage) and no longer (a classic among nctzens lol)
in behind the scenes of song recording that they post, normally it really is taeyong who puts his own twists to the songs and producers often compliment him for it (which is why he's so musically respected even by producers; he thinks beyond a performer and puts himself in a producer's shoes) those videos are really interesting, i recommend you to watch them in your free time!!

The producers and the choreographers all talk about Taeyong adding his own ideas to the songs and the performance! He's quite literally the artistic pillar of NCT. (The vocal fry and the whisper rap were in the original song demos, though, I think. Either that or SM's in-house producer asked him to do it)
as to what you mentioned about hoping Taeyong gets to have some personal creative control over his raps & whatnot, he does have a hand is writing pretty much every significant rap he does. I think I saw in an interview with a producer or something(?) that he actually writes all his raps. Yes, during recordings, Taeyong always adds his own flavor to his raps, he sometimes change the orig flow or something and add his own signature. Not jut in recording, even in writing. A famous and high paid lyricist (I forgot her name) in Korea always praises Taeyong for his style in writing lyrics, as well as SM producers (not just sm actually, a lot of producers) praises him too. I suggest you to watch their recording diary, you can see there how Taeyong (and other members) work on their songs. And also, Taeyong has A LOT of unreleased songs since he practically lives in the recording studio. He goes there even during hectic schedule bc he said that that's his way of releasing his stress. I think it was Doyoung who said that Taeyong sleeps in the recording studio instead of their dorms.

Taeyong has a really good artistic vision. Most moves that improved the choreographies are added by him since he is the one who keeps the practice going without the choreographers (of course he talks to them first) the adds a lot in the recording sections, you can also see that in the videos little things that bring a whole new experience

Omg I'm so happy you noticed how GOOD Yuta is at isolating parts of his body. If you wanna see more of that I would recommend watching their Punch dance practice cool version, which basically has them doing the dance in groups of threes. You can really see their individual styles in it, although some of them don't go as hard cause it's more of a fun video. But that video really solidified Yuta's dancing skill for me!
Just so you know Taeyong always gave lots of input into his songs and his performances, so yeah he does have that special artistic side both in his dancing and rapping
This is pretty up there as one of their best songs. I've been watching K-Pop videos for about four years by default (my daughter is the one who kept playing them on our TV) but never really got into until this year. Of all the performers I've seen, Taeyong is a standout (up there with Taemin, performance-wise). He totally snaps. I'm probably gonna get flamed for this… but I've been watching Winwin a lot more closely in WayV and in his past NCT videos and performances. While I feel that he is a skilled dancer, this niche is difficult for him. Like you mentioned, just arching his back would have helped give the movement more "umph." Even in Bad Alive, his part was awkward (dance and vocal-wise) and would have looked better if he loosened up his shoulder and hunched a little more. It's definitely something that he could work on, perhaps through more observation/imitation of other artists in this genre to gain confidence. My friend once told me that it's easier to teach someone that's "new" to a skill versus someone who already has experience because it's hard to unlearn bad habits. I'm not saying that Winwin has bad habits, but he just has muscle memory of "proper postures" that are probably hard to let go of when doing more urban-influenced dances. So when people complain that he doesn't get any lines or rarely gets center, I can understand why those decisions were made by the company. I think he's adorable and has a certain innocent charm to him. Perhaps that needs to switch off when he performs.
That's why Taeyeong is an amazing dancer cause he started dancing when he joined sm. Also i'm a modern dancer and I understand winwin s struggles cause i am used to certain rules. For example when i put my leg forward i am used to putting my weight on my supporting leg and pointing the other leg so for some moves i really struggle. And there are much more.
In their early years, their stylists were really bold and made it a point that they would stand out. Very neo. Not many liked it back then, but looking back now, they started some of the fashion trends today such as the e-boy fashion.
Earlier NCT styles are always as if they are good to look at individually, but very much disjointed all together. And looking at it now, if other groups even try the same style, people are always reminded by NCT. That's good branding for me.

This is a very infamous hair era for NCT 127. From Mark's noodles, to Jeffrey (blonde Jaehyun) to Winwin's the biys will never live these down. This is one of the rare occasions when Doyoung's hair is not black. On the flipside Haechan was awesome in red. and... we have... the chin. Love Limitless. For most people the performance version is the mv even though there are 2 more, the rough cut and the Japanese version. They are all great.
During my 2017, I've been addicted to this song though I'm not NCT's fan. It's still my favourite NCT song. More than the dance move, I fell in love with melody especially chorus.

"haechan does not get a lot of solo in this but that's okay cause he gets a lot in other songs" let me just say as a sunflower since their debut, haechan barely had lines or solo parts until simon says, 2 years after their debut. limitless japanese mv he had no solo shots and only appeared for 3 seconds. he was lead singer and dancer but ddnt get any lines, and for dance he only got that one part in cherry bomb. it might have been sm's decision since he was so young to not give him much limelight but now he shines all on his own and finally he is given more lines and screentime, it's amazing seeing his growth.

Limitless is THAT song for me. I didn't appreciate her as much as I probably should have at first, but, my goodness, her meaning is beautiful and she holds so much of my love. I think the Japanese ver. MV is my favorite, the Rough ver. never fails to make me laugh throughout it, and the Performance ver. still has a fantastic vibe and outfit styling regardless of the hair situation. and the b-sides in the EP are some of my favorites from 127!

This is a very infamous hair era for NCT 127. From Mark's noodles, to Jeffrey (blonde Jaehyun) to Winwin's the biys will never live these down. This is one of the rare occasions when Doyoung's hair is not black. On the flipside Haechan was awesome in red. and... we have... the chin. Love Limitless. For most people the performance version is the mv even though there are 2 more, the rough cut and the Japanese version. They are all great.

During my 2017, I've been addicted to this song though I'm not NCT's fan. It's still my favourite NCT song. More than the dance move, I fell in love with melody especially chorus.
you should watch trigger the fever by nct dream they don’t have a dance practice but the live stage(not mcountdown) is good also with that maybe watch haechan fancam or 1,2,3 live stage

let me just say as a sunflower since their debut, haechan barely had lines or solo parts until simon says, 2 years after their debut. limitless japanese mv he had no solo shots and only appeared for 3 seconds. he was lead singer and dancer but ddnt get any lines, and for dance he only got that one part in cherry bomb. it might have been sm's decision since he was so young to not give him much limelight but now he shines all on his own and finally he is given more lines and screentime, it's amazing seeing his growth.

Jpn.ver mv... there is so much story! like what are they running from? what is taeil recording? there is a rock written as wake up and it floats around yuta and he wakes up then someone picks it up... with lyrics combined this song feels like an easter egg of nct I also love how the choreo is shot dynamically!

I didn't appreciate her as much as I probably should have at first, but, my goodness, her meaning is beautiful and she holds so much of my love. I think the Japanese ver. MV is my favorite, the Rough ver. never fails to make me laugh throughout it, and the Performance ver. still has a fantastic vibe and outfit styling regardless of the hair situation.
and the b-sides in the EP are some of my favorites from 127!

Jeff, you're definitely not the only one that thinks Taeyong's vocal fry sexy. That's what made me love this song the first time I heard it. I remember the first time I watched and listened to NCT 127, the moment I heard Taeyong voice and saw how intense and charismatic he is when preforming I knew he was my bias before I knew his name
