    We go through the reasons you would want a folding prop and a full assembly and reassembly of the folding and standard prop on a Lift E3 Efoil setup. It is an easy process but if you haven't held the folding prop in your hand this video may help you understand why you would or wouldn't want one for your unit. You can browse all Efoil products here on our website:

    One reason to NOT over torque the prop bolt is that it is not under tension most of the time. The design is such that the prop is a pusher prop: when powered it is pushing forward onto the motor, holding itself onto the shaft. So, the majority of the time you are on the board you are applying power and the bolt has no stress. Only when decelerating does the tension of the prop bolt come into play.

    can you do a video on removing the prop guard and leaving the initial prop on?

      We can, you will need a puck to replace the shroud on the standard setup. I can make that video though.

    I have a strange issue. I removed my shroud and replaced with the cone from Lift. When I went to ride, I noticed a significant drop in power. In addition, my battery time went from one hour rider to 30 minutes. I figure I must have caused some kind of friction with over tightening? The board rides much smoother, but the power is down and the battery time is cut in 1/2. Any recommendation please. Thank you

      I have no idea...did you figure out what was going on with this one? Should be the opposite for sure. If you're still having trouble we should get with Lift Support and start a ticket. contact us if we can help!

    On flat water, what is the range of how long it takes a newbie to learn how to efoil? Roughly how many hours? I've seen riders sitting facing forward and that looked pretty easy. I imagine if you have previous experience skateboarding, snowboarding, or wakeboarding it's really easy to learn efoiling.

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  Před 2 lety +1

      Only takes about 30min in flat water to get up and foiling for someone who is good. A lot of it is settings on the controller and finger control for the throttle. The transition from kneeling to feet is the key and if the new rider can keep constant throttle through that transition. If they can, they will have a lot of success quickly. If they are slow to transition or have poor throttle control it could take as long as 2-3hrs but usually 90% or more people can do it in under 2 hrs. Hope that helps!

    I ride Lift 4'9 with 150 wing on in-land lakes. If I order the folding prop will it increase speed? Increase mobility? Increase battery life? Thanks. Great video.

    • @philmidler1502
      @philmidler1502 Před 2 lety

      You will see a large increase in battery life and we will notice more glide. the speed is about the same but you can maintain a higher speed with minimal throttle and actually glide through turns etc. Because of this gliding your turns and transitions will feel more free as you can sweep through without throttle or a lot less. Hope this helps! The folding prop is the most popular upgrade and riders very satisficed with the experience. Here is that prop: houstonkiteboarding.com/collections/lift/products/lift-folding-propeller-kit?variant=39711601983661

    • @midlerp1
      @midlerp1 Před rokem +1

      Yes, but you will need the spacer put back in to take the place of the shroud...it is called the tail cone kit...here it is: houstonkiteboarding.com/products/lift-tail-cone-kit?_pos=1&_sid=4da781164&_ss=r

      We also have a used folding prop for sale also which will come with this spacer...you can use the same spacer with the folding prop or standard prop

    Hi. Any advice on how to take the folding prop off if it’s stuck? I can get the center bolt off but the prop won’t come off.

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  Před rokem

      Hey, if you're still having trouble with this. you can use a block of wood to brace the folding prop while you turn out the center bolt. It is usually loctite in there so most likely not stuck but just tight in place. Brace the prop open on a block of wood and then just tap the allen key with another block until is loosens up. Righty tightly...lefty loosy...make sure you're going the right way!

    Hello, does the maximum speed change? Thanks!

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  Před 2 lety +2

      You can change the max speed by changing the front wings. For instance the larger wings like the 250v2 surf and 300 v2 surf maybe have a foiling speed of 8-15mph but the smallest wings at the 150 or 100 v2 surf can foil around 20-30mph. There is a lot more drag at the higher speeds so the batter lift is less but there is also a lot stability

    Can the folding prop work with the shroud? Why take it off?

    • @midlerp
      @midlerp  Před 2 lety

      Because of drag...That is the short answer. The long answer is that the standard prop has significant drag when you're just riding a wave of coasting without power applied. When power is applied the drag of the folding prop is slightly less be pretty negligible. The shroud however is ALWAYS dragging through the water no matter what the power setting, so removing it makes the system a lot more efficient regardless of folding prop or not. We also sell a "tail kit" that is just the spacer for removing the shroud and keeping the fixed prop instead of going to full folding prop. It is a lot cheaper option for people wanting to play with surfing on their efoil. Once you ride efoils for a while you realize that you don't really put anything near the prop when it is spinning so with experienced riders a shroud is mostly unnecessary. It should always be used with beginners however...they may need the protection especially when swimming near the system with throttle in hand etc. Thanks for the comment!

    Changing propeller without optimising planetary gearing and electromotor is not smart thing to do as they are being developed for that exact type of propeller.
