The new Lift Jet is a impeller system that is made for all versions of the Lift Efoil. This setup is $399 and is easy to install. We take you through a ride and review as well as a full installation. The ride of the Jet is a lot different from what I originally thought. Well worth the investment if you think you would like 1. less drag than 3 blade fixed prop, 2. Easier throttle control, 3. More clearance between motor and board, 4. Safer in surf conditions, 5. better for weeds. - Sport
Installed mine yesterday and I’m excited about efoiling again (couldn’t consider the folding prop because I want my young kids to play with it).
I ordered it for the safety factor so my 4.5 year old could drive the board around himself on a low power setting. But, man, I had so much fun on it! I assume this is only partway to the improvement you get with the folding prop but it is a huge step up from the stock setup. I couldn’t believe how much more enjoyable efoiling was with the Jet. I didn’t love efoiling compared to the feeling of winging, wake, or dockstarting. It was just a last resort for me. This makes me excited about it again.
- Takeoff is so smooth. Other than towing another foiler, I don’t see any reason for the big prop and all the torque that comes with it. The Jet is so easy to get up on because you don’t have to stomp the front down. This will make learning much faster for people.
- I was able to turn so much tighter and go faster. Way more nimble but not in a challenging way. Feels like a sports car rather than a school bus.
- I was way more comfortable. Especially my throttle hand. Every little throttle movement didn’t pitch the board.
- I feel way less vibration and it is quieter. Again, closer to the feeling I love in other foiling disciplines.
- Only issue I had was I kept getting periods of vibration and decreased power… Turned out it was small fish getting stuck! lol. I was worried I didn’t torque the bolts enough and it was falling apart. Seems like it’s very sensitive to anything getting inside the duct and there are two opportunities for that to happen with the front and back screens.
- Also, when removing the original setup, one of the bolts was stuck and the head stripped. Luckily, I was able to extract it. Otherwise, installation was super easy. The four new bolts they included have a bigger allen head so this shouldn’t be an issue in the future.

Ok it IS enough. Less power for sure but enough power (went from setting 8 with the old prop to 12 with the jet) and silent as heck. VERY smooth off throttle, can actually stop a breach from happening now with trigger control. Used to cut throttle when I breached and then the board would drop too fast and submarine. Now it's a gentle drop and that's REALLY Nice!
The ride times are up noticably. We've gotten 2 hrs solid multiple times now. And of course it's safer so I'm more relaxed now. :)

Can you hold a continuous breach like an open prop?
It is easier to hold than the larger three blade...the smaller jet system will ride breached or ventilated all day long. THanks for comment!
what can you say about the battery life difference between the jet vs standard prop? given similar other conditions (rider weight, riding style, conditions, etc)...would one get (about the same, little more, little less, lot more, lot less) battery w/ the standard prop vs the jet? (asking because you said you have to give it a tad more throttle to get going..maybe that means more battery drain, less riding time over a session). would love to know your thoughts on this.

That is a tough one to figure. I’d say less for sure. Probably close maybe 10-15% as a guess
My buddy tried the "jet" and picked up some eel grass and needed to disassemble to remove the eel grass
yes, it is harder to get eel grass inside but if it gets in it is a disassembly project for sure. When I train I only put 2 of the small screws in the locking outer housing. You can also just keep the shroud off of the unit. which will help with efficiency and eel grass removal
Anyone see the email from lift about firmware upgrade last week? I keep checking but nothing is available for my board or controller?

Yeah, good call. I’m sure they could have made that happen. It is very well designed but takes some elbow grease to install for sure.
Interesting, would not call that a Jet. Its actually just a improved propeller & duct, but good anyway!

This is not a “jet”. This is a prop with a shroud around it 😂. What Fliteboard has is more of a true jet.
that's what i thought when i got mine. was wondering what was so "jet" about it. i guess it's that the shroud is shaped such that it "jetifies" the water a bit...but not a true jet from what (little) i know....
Not a jet, jets use impeller and nozzle. Still illegal in canada. No props allowed, safety shroud or not. Only impeller driven pumps are allowed.
while it is technically illegal in canada at the moment transport canada is in the long process of updating this law and has made written exemption for efoils coming into the country according to Lift and Fliteboard...this is why no one has had any trouble bringing them into the country.
@@midlerp Of course there's no trouble buying them in Canada. The point is that the Fliteboard jet is already Transport Canada approved.

Very cheap plastic. Fliteboard using a metal impeller and blades in their Jet.
how much is the fliteboard jet system...$1499! For that money it should come with an elite remote. The lift sells for $399 which is why it is built with budget in mind. Still works perfectly and a nice value for new riders or as an extra set for teaching.
@@midlerp Lift costs the same as Fliteboard. I just priced one out. The "Elite" remote is a heavy mess - why would I want that?!
