I went through 3 malfunctioning Rane 4 units until I got one that works. It was an absolute nightmare

my channel 2 and 4 up / down faders failed on my Rane4 .... I have yet to find a box to send the unit back to them. I'm disgusted with it. the back and forth for me to prove that the unit was faulty was very disrespectful , and now my left paddle fx broke on my RANE ONE what garbage.

Rane dropped the ball when the Rane Twelve Mk1 had motor issues and had to be recalled.

Lucky you mind the channel to fit it was leaking. I'll let you telling me to do is update. They never changed my unit. I still have the same problem

Interesting. I had a similar problem with mine (jumpy faders) and discovered that the plate which covers the faders does not allow you to access them, you can only get to the crossfader. There is a video of someone repairing a bad fader, but it requires almost complete disassembly from the back of the unit as they are soldered directly to the motherboard. That was a deal-breaker for me. I sent mine back and got a refund. I don't understand why a company releases gear that can't be serviced. People rely on this stuff in the field. I replaced it with an A&H PX5 mixer, which I like a lot.

Interesting. I didn't break mine open so I don't know how it's wired

@@DJDUMusic It really pissed me off because part of the reason I bought it, apart from the great stems/effects layout, was that it looked like you could just unscrew the plate to service the faders. But the plate is just screwed onto the case. It's purely cosmetic. There's an issue with the FX paddles breaking too. The fix involves hot glue and it's fairly easy to do but it will void your warranty. There's a Ytube video of a guy doing it that's worth watching. Look up 'Lab coat Paul Rane paddle'.

what? are you crazy? from a guy that repairs these things they in and day out, you're arguing that because the faders are soldered onto the motherboard makes them unserviceable? how else are you going to connect faders to any device like your Allen and Heath mixer, any djm pioneer mixer, any lighting console with faders..? they are all soldered on. cdjs from Pioneer have a stainless steel cage that surrounds the pitch faders as a way of isolating them from the other components. it makes it a b**** to service them because I have to disassemble this cage, BUT they are there for a reason. it's not to make them unserviceable it's to isolate points of ingress for liquid damage from other components. some spills their drink and the liquid finds its way into these fader slots, because of that metal cage, that liquid damage tends not to damage other components on the other boards in the unit. it tends to stay local to that fader.
      your arguments are just stupid.
BTW the Rane 4 is probably one of the more serviceable units I've seen.. and I'm not talking about just sourcing replacement motherboards. I'm talking about access to individual components on those boards. so you don't have to spend $300 for a replacement I/O board.. just find a technician that knows how to repair components and they'll be able to access everything they need to find the faulty or damage component. might just end up being a few resistors or capacitors that can be swapped out. probably less than $10 worth of components instead of $300 for a brand new board. even with labor, you're still saving hundreds. Allen and Heath is a good brand too. Pioneer is the worst.
Rane is the best designed audio products out there.. the manufacturing is not as good as it used to be since the inmusic acquisition... but that is to be expected. Americans have bankrupted most of their old school home-built brands.. everyone loves a Moog, wants a Moog. but when it comes down to it, there were unwilling to support Moog by buying their products because of the high prices due to manufacturing being done in the USA. "made in the USA" is the dumbest thing a manufacturer can do.. it's unpatriotic to manufacture anywhere else? well what happens when Americans don't want to pay high prices..? an Americans aren't going to work for cheap,.. your bankrupt your own companies and then you bitch and complain when these "vulture corporations" swoop in, and acquire these historic brands at bargain discount bankruptcy sales and move all manufacturing overseas... this has saved your historic brand from going bankrupt. and it should have been done years ago.. but stupid business decisions we're made out of misplaced loyalty to their country in the hopes of that their fellow Americans would support them. and they went bankrupt because of that.
