What has annoyed me for years about the Broncos is how tight and conservative they play even when the game (or season) is essentially over for them. Russ seems so hesitant to throw the ball he's getting sacked or having balls batted down. Let it loose, air it out, if you lose you lose but at least give yourself a chance, however small it may be. KC has such little respect for us they're trying out trick plays like we're their scout team or something.

Agree. Steve Young talked about his USFL head coach the great Sid Gilman in old age telling Young that there’s not a “rubber band on the ball. It’s not coming back so let it go & hope for the best.” Steve Young was so much to watch.

broncos real problem......their players just are not that good....and to solve thnat prob.....denver gave up a 1st rounder to get an over rated stuck in past coach whos has been living off from winning a superbowl 13 years ago with Brease as qb and having bounties on the opposing players star players, giving $$$$ for intentionally injuring them.
The coach was to fix the over rated qb who got one superbowl win cause of the nfls best defense that year and blew a superbowl when it was up to russ to throw and win it....he throws a pick. Denver gave up a 5th and 9th first round picks...2 seconds...3 players....along with worst contract in nfl to find out seattles success was more to do with coaching then russ s qb ability.
lets be honest....denver is screwed for years to come and this should be lesson for other teams and the con of "we are just a qb away from the superbowl"

Russ was part of the problem last night. But watching the actual game I’m also beginning to question Sean Payton. He said on the broadcast that they’re going to finally open up the offense. I found that very strange. It feels like Payton doesn’t trust his quarterback and most of the play calls reflect that. Does he actually want Russ to hunt with the football? Doesn’t seem like it to me. Russ is playing like a QB afraid to mess up in front of his coach.

I saw a comment from a hawks fan last night saying why don't they do put in an extra lineman so that longer wr routes can develop and let Russ go for the deep throws like what he used to do in Seattle. It seems kinda fishy

    • @j.deleon_13
      @j.deleon_13 Před 8 měsíci +6

@@LordRumpertumskin that’s his bread and butter. He’s extremely efficient when there’s max protect and he can throw deep. The problem is that Sean wants Russ to run Sean’s offense but that offense doesn’t work anymore. Let Russ open the playbook and really see if he still has it which I believe he does. We already seen it this szn with some of his throws. Whether it’s off the run or just deep throws. But this handicap offense is making Russ too conservative so he can’t play like himself. Let him throw deep and give the WR’s more chances. Russ is top 3 right now in deep ball throws, Sean needs to stop being so egotistical and let his QB play the way he should play. Especially playing Mims more bc his chemistry with Russ is already there. All these short out routes don’t work the whole game. It’s easy for a defense to sit on everything when they feel that you aren’t going to throw deep. It’s playing into the defense’s hands and that’s why their offense shows a lot of inconsistency. At this point they have nothing to lose bc they are already 1-5. Open up the playbook and build from there

It’s not about trust between the QB and the coach. No, RW isn’t the problem. What is going on that is a bigger concern is why did it take VJ six weeks to adjust to motions and shifts and why am I hearing analysts who know football say that Payton isn’t using the plays that are used in practice that produce massive yardage and use motion and shifts in the games? This feels very suspect and I feel for the fans who paid their hard earned money for a quality product to not be put on or displayed on the field for yet another season! Its not just Denver that is having this happen...the older "offensive gurus" are all having their moments of infamy this year. When you look at how SF, LA Rams, and Miami are operating and how the motion and pre-snap changes have unlocked things for them and then compare that against the extremely basic and watered down things that Denver, Chicago, and Dallas are doing on offense, its beginning to look like there is a generational gap of play design and calling that is being exposed.

I’m a huge fan of Russ but he played ass last night. Credit to the Chiefs defense but Sean and Russ lost that game. The main problem is that he doesn’t trust his WR’s at all. That’s why sometimes he’s so hesitant on throwing these deep shots especially to Jeudy. Too many drops too

Whether it’s Sutton or Jeudy. Sutton is more reliable in my opinion but Jeudy drops the easiest passes. I get that you have to give your wideout a chance so that’s completely on Russ but him not trusting Jeudy, I don’t blame him for that. And another thing in Seattle, he had WR’s that could consistently come down with 50/50 balls. Doug, Paul Richardson at a certain time, DK, Kearse, Lockett, and Tate. He doesn’t have a weapon like that anymore that he can fully trust. That’s the main problem for this offense. This narrative on Jeudy having butterfingers is a little overblown in my opinion yes he has had drops but this season? He’s not even getting the targets. I will never forget that. But if I’m the Broncos, you are essentially stuck with Russ. I mean if you try and get Caleb Williams, you sure that’s the move with a QB you just paid? With this organization they will ruin him if Paton is still the GM. Bottom line is that he can’t construct a team and he panics and pays everyone so fast. Gregory was robbing the Broncos. 5 years for $70M. Then you overpay Sutton. You should overpay these linemen. You overpay Frank Clark. If they want to turn this around, I think he needs to go first. I don’t think Russ is the problem and neither is Sean Payton. They just don’t have the roster to do anything and Vance Joseph has to go to. He ruined a top 10 defense. The short answer is NO! It's Payton Patton and Hackett all trying to change him problem. Wilson last year with pretty much the same team in place under Coach Rosenberg played awesome against 2 playoff teams one being the SB winner and scoring a bit more than 28 points per game. They beat the Chargers and almost beat the Chiefs and were allowing Wilson to play like he did in Seattle! He does that idiotic thing where he calls these plays on 3rd or 4th & 1 where there's all of these moves before the handoff. It allows the defense to get set. The long drop backs are play design. I appreciate the breakdown. To me both teams that played last night were very similar except:
Russell is playing more safe or “scared” I don’t know, and Mahomes is elite. Both have poor wr rooms but KC has an all pro TE that works like a mind meld with the QB.
Defense is good, but KC has Jones and other top draft pick players. Best broncos have is a 7th round “find” in Cooper, which makes pass rush much different.
Broncos payed for a poor pass pro RT with the thought of Running more, but stop running when they are behind by a point.
Ultimately we are seeing the difference in a team(KC) that is using years of decent to good draft choices and another team(Broncos) that traded their top draft choices for “potential”.
In reality I’m worried trading and tanking for a QB isn’t going to help and we will be a bad team like the Panthers for years. Just my opinion.

One thing I noticed as well throughout the game was it seemed like there were too many times where we were coming out of the huddle and the play clock had already ticked past 10 seconds. That's what frustrated me because when that happened, there was barely enough time to get anybody set let alone get a pre snap read in, send someone in motion, call an audible, something to try to throw the defense off. I don't know if that's because we still are having trouble with the playbook or what but Kansas City defense took full advantage of that.

The offense looks like Nathaniel Hackett might as well have stayed. It is clear that Jerry Jeudy has given up. I would say the same thing about Sutton, other than that TD catch. 50% of the reason this team sucks right now is that Russell Wilson is getting paid way too much and he’s playing like a tier 3 back up. 20% is on the receivers, but I think they are quitting because they’ve lost confidence in Russ. Russ is part of the problem but he isn't THE problem. The major problem for Denver is that their past finally catching up to them. People forget they didn't have an owner for years, seven straight years Denver hired first time head coaches, they hired a first time GM three years ago. Having a series of first time head coaches and first time GM, everyone was trying to figure it out as they go which made it amateur hour in Denver for the last seven years. The cost of bad managment and bad coaching all these years finally caught up to them and they are now paying for it. A major problem with Russ is that he isn't elusive anymore. Even in his prime he would hold the ball too long, but when he was younger he was elusive enough to buy extra time with his legs, the receivers would get open for the big play. As a Bronco Russ still holds on to the ball too long, but he lost some elusiveness and he can't avoid the pass rush to buy extra time. Russ without his elusiveness looks very average.

Here’s my theory, Sean Payton is quietly tanking. That is the only acceptable reasoning for his play calling since week 3. This is the scheme we get from Payton after we traded a first round pick for his services? Also Russ is completely in his head again. He was in his head last year as well. That decision on 4th to NOT EVEN LOOK JEUDYS WAY AND HES WIDE OPEN? It’s happening weekly where he’s missing open guys. Then the narrative is “the wide receivers suck”. That touchdown Sutton caught? That’s what he was doing his pro bowl year. News flash, he was never creating huge amounts of separation. Drew lock had the hardware to throw the man 50/50 balls. I’ve been one of Russ’s biggest supporters but these last two games where our season was on the line? He just doesn’t have the capability to measure up to these moments anymore. Sad state of affairs

Russ is probably one of the hardest working players in the NFL. To say he is the primary problem is absurd. Prior to this game he was statistically right on par with mahomes. The WRs need to go, bring in dudes that can work scramble drill and not quit once read isn’t right to them. the O line is soft and Russ continues to run for his life like he did in Seattle. Any non mobile QB would result in far more sacks than Russ has been able to escape out of and save some plays for progression. The DC is still the main primary issue because 1 week doesn’t amount to the past 5 . The defense isn’t confused about what’s happening and that’s a huge problem because our skill players are not good enough to win plays time and time again. The one time Payton tried it, he had Jeudy in the backfield and it WORKED! It was a shift. The defense got stuck in a bad position and the offense beat them that way. Russ does look comfortable being a pocket passer, I think coach is wanting to make him that type of passer / go look at game 1 when her running and using using his athletic ability, throwing dimes on the run . Then look at the 2nd half of the same game and the tempo is slowed and he's thinking to much . Use Russ to his abilities and not to who you want him to be "Drew Breese" and lots not let the o line of the hook aspecialy #69 who is a monster of a man at 6foot 8 , the play calling is terrible the receiver don't create any separation at all ( same problem as last year , the give up on the play and stand around) and the Defense was good last year this year we got trash schemes.

Did you watch the breakdown? Russ missed all kinds of plays, and he seemed timid and slow in decision-making. He sucked. Throw in questionable playcalling. Poor pass protection. Wide receivers can't get separation. TEs are lackluster - we need some playmakers there. The whole stinkin' offense is a dumpster fire. The defense is bad also, despite the fact that they put together an average performance last night. "Average" is good for this defense since they have been last in the league in everything this season. I'll give them credit for improvement this week. If we could put together average or better on both sides of the ball in the same game, we could win a few. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. It is so hard to watch our team this season. Last season, okay, we blamed most of it on Russ. This year, every part of our game is just bad and inconsistent.

me saying the quiet thing out loud, Paytons probably lowkey loving this. wouldn't shock me if he's calling L's purposely moreso than most coaches would usually maybe do. on account, i doubt he likes almost anyone on the roster, i think he'd move guys he liked for the right deal. NFL teams don't tank but a playcaller can most definitely tank and honestly lets be real, i don't blame him. it's a really good time to do this, and have this problem. it's the perfect time in football history to be a genuinely horrible roster. Caleb Williams, from my vantage point personally potentially the greatest QB prospect ever, at the very least as good a prospect as theres ever been. I believe with all my heart the broncos are gonna get this thing done and lock him up. it wouldn't surprise me if its like actually a key part of Payton's gameplan just because it's possible and the opportunity is there. i don't think paytons concerned, it wouldn't shock me if Russell Wilson is doing everything Payton wants of him low low, even in a wink wink type of way, where Payton keeps his numbers decent, he implodes at the proper moments but i digress. Even in a worst case scenario where somehow someone is worst. tbh the consolations aren't half bad in this situation. the draft pick situation if they end up in the top 5 is virtually no lose. that part is fine to me, where i worry is like you said, where is anything else to build on? because i'd nuke the roster if i'm payton, but if i'm a gm of another team, what would i really want from this team besides ps2? everyone else just seems like they're worth a 4th or less. maybe a 3 for jon cooper? prolly a 2nd for simmons on a good day but ehhh... you look at it and ur like whats the point?

Jeudy only cares about Jeudy and Court has lost his edge, we have no #1 receiver. The tight ends are below average, we stink. The defense stinks. It's simply painfully obvious that Wilson is not tall enough to see down the field therefore he panics and reverts to scramble mode which turns into sand lot football. This is why the receivers are slow out of the blocks or don't appear to be running correct routes. They know all too often when they look back for the pass all they see is a QB running around in sand lot mode. There is no camaraderie at all with this team. The players know what they have and are going through the motions. The whole team is a washed up at this point.

Even Fitzmajic joked at halftime that he was going to need to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage. It just can’t all be on other players, staff, defense, coaches, players….
