Its funny, when they first released GIJoe in 1982, there were no Cobra figures in my area. Since we were young (5 or so) we thought Snake-Eyes was the bad character because he was all in black. Funny how kids think.
Gi Joe issue 1 and 21 Silent Interlude have been reprinted numerous times. However, the back up story to issue 1 “Hot Potato” is usually not reprinted and that story hints that there is a connection between Scarlett and Snake Eyes which is not fleshed out until later issues.
I remember getting issue #1 off the comic rack at the candy store and immediately loving Scarlett & Snake-Eyes because of "Hot Potato". Not only because Snake-Eyes went back for Scarlett, but because Scarlett pulled her gun on her teammates to ensure they followed through... AND her allusion to suicide instead of capture evidenced by the 2 bullets she keeps hidden on her person "just in case". The comics were not as kid-oriented as the later cartoon.
I love to see these toys. I owned some of the first wave. Sadly my mom threw all my toys out once I hit my teens. I have started with the new classified series. I like your channel.
Sir.. Thank you! This video brought back so many happy childhood memories of my dad. My dad was a big Snake Eyes fan and was a real life GI Joe. He was in the US Army Air Corps in WW2 . He had all of the vintage Snake eyes figures . Lol he even bet on race horse just because it's name was Snake Eyes.
Now this is a review...well done. Snake Eyes (and Stormshadow) have been favorites since I was a kid. I still love both of them beyond the nostalgia, they are the benchmark of what a commando and ninja should be. (and yes he is both) The Classified series reignited the kid in me and having a lot of fun casually collecting and displaying them.
This review was outstanding! It hits all of the bases with the information, & then again with all of the technical things such as camera, sound quality, & editing. Very good job, HCC788!
Wow! Thanks for the extremely thorough review of this pivotal character. Unfortunately, the overexposure hurts the mystique around this incredible Joe. He’s still awesome, though.
My mom would allow me to pick 1 G I.Joe figure when we went to the store. I will never forget avoiding choosing the 1982 Snake Eyes figure thinking how generic, boring and simple the toy was. To think how far he has come in G.I.Joe lore over the years is amazing. The 1985 S.E was a different story as not only was his figure more bad ass, he came with a wolf!
Snake eyes was awesome. As a kid that grew up with the sunbow cartoon I liked snake eyes and remember him being in the show more than he actually was. The first three mini series (Mass Device, Revenge of Cobra, and Pyramid of Darkness) where my favorites and each featured snake eyes. The scene in Mass Device where he shoots the screen down to save everyone. When Scarlet reaches out and they "touch hands" though the glass. Held a lot of meaning that went over my head as a kid. I would have to wait until the 89 Snake Eyes to have him in figure form. Still for a cost cutting measure they hit it out of the park. Ninjas have their place in GI Joe I just wish they had not gone overboard trying to keep up with TMNT. Snake Eyes is a great idea for a modern ninja. If I could go back in time the only change I would make would be a simple paint application on the straps. Having them dark grey would have drawn out the details a little more.
I really like this review, very informative. I was surprised that you did not include the o-ring version that RHINO released with their DVD of Revenge of Cobra. To me this is my favorite because I consider this the most Sunbow accurate of all the Snake Eyes I have seen. Amazing video, keep them coming.
throw it all the way back to the early years and say "vee-hickle" 5 times in a sentence. One of my favorite review lines came from the Penguin Guide to Jazz, when it referred to Thelonious Monk as "a return to composition as the highest order" and as a mixture of "...sober gaiety, bleak humor, and thunderous intensity"
Wow! I think this is your BEST review to date! That's high praise, because I think that you always do outstanding reviews. This one though, is exceptional! You're back in the groove, and better than ever, HCC788!
I never had any of the vintage version. I liked him better in the comics. The only Snake Eyes figure I have is the classified 2 pack with Timber but want to get the individual classified figure and I bought the o-ring repro figure with Storm Shadow. I really like how they made sure to keep version 1 but include version 2 weapons.
As for all six Snake-eyes figures in the vintage toyline I gotta be real, I like them all I think they do all have their positives, the ones that aren't as good as others could've been better but I feel could've been a lot worse as well.
I was confused at first about Snake Eyes in 82. I thought he was a bad guy, because he was in black and his name relates to a snake, so I thought he was Cobra, but his affiliation was G.I. Joe. He's the Boba Fett of G.I. Joe. In the Snake Eyes movie, he kept his friends close and enemies closer.
I always thought his code-name was inspired by the BOMB, since he was always last but decisive to help G.I. Joe win battles, alongside his pet wolf Timber !!
WOW. No frills, N0 paint, not much back story for v1. This should not be a popular character but actually is AWESOME. The most popular character of the series!
GI Joe Resolute gave us the perfect animated version of Snake-Eyes. I didn’t bother to watch the most recent movie because I’ve been a fan of Snake-Eyes since the beginning of ARAH. So I can’t bear to see yet another childhood hero of mine ruined by modern Hollywood.
Great overall review, but I do think it was an oversight not to mention the near copy retro figure released several months ago by Hasbro. The latest o-ring figure is at least as relevant to the Snake Eyes V1/1.5 figure arc as the 6” homage, and probably more so.
There was a Batman Fortnite six issue series where characters fight repeatedly because their memories are constantly wiped. Snake Eyes appears in issue 3 as the powers that be try to find an opponent that will keep Batman occupied so he doesn’t figure out what’s happening too quickly. I really enjoy the match up.
I’m probably about to get it, but I’m sticking with my guns. Yeah, it sucked as a whole… but the Snake-Eyes from the Stars and Stripes box-set (97?) is probably my favorite version of Snakes.
Are you sure Snake-eyes was avalible thorugh Hasbro direct, because I saw the catalogs on 3DJOES, those catalogs show everything that was avalible even the mail away figures (the only exceptions were the sears and toys r us exclusives) and I never saw Snake-eyes in the mail away sections for any year.
I hope you figured out how to get the classified figure to look down. Mine has nonissue looking down enough to contemplate his bellybutton lint. You might need to rotate the neck as it is a separate piece and articulated as well.
As much as I rag on “oh my god, another Snake Eyes figure”, if we just talk about the CHARACTER, I love him. Am I kinda jealous he has like 79 versions? Yeah! But like, comic Snake Eyes is a great guy. He has a great story (except for maybe that Arashikage ninja trance… that was kinda BS)
I’m a Vintage guy only… I have nearly every vintage figure up to 92 including multiples of various cobras for an authentic feel… I store them in tackle boxes stacked in the closet… I have been considering moving the collection to a display case … would the later figure stands with the name painted on it work for vintage figures… and if not what could I do to modify them to make them work???
I'm glad Fury Force was scrapped in favor of G.I.Joe, because we wouldn't have Black Nick Fury later on in the 616 comics, plus it would proably mean White Nick Fury wouldn't be phased out of the comics, I never liked White Nick Fury he's an over authoritive jerk, plus he'll rip you off just to get what he wants, just ask Ironman. Edit: The name Spook for Fury Force was also the name of a lesser known Batman villain.
Lol 👽 butt stuff 🤣 😂 true story Barney hill was abducted with his wife they were the first to be abducted their granddaughter is a ufc fighter Angela hill.
Agreed. Plus, they ended up killing the original off. He was the most popular character in the entire line and they gender-bent him into a woman?! SMFH! The powers that be truly are trying to destroy my childhood.
Snake-eyes has always been one of my favorite characters. Yo-joe! 🇺🇲👍
I love the fact that you are wearing a Johnny Cash shirt while doing a review for "The Man In Black" 😂👏👏👏
Its funny, when they first released GIJoe in 1982, there were no Cobra figures in my area. Since we were young (5 or so) we thought Snake-Eyes was the bad character because he was all in black. Funny how kids think.
The shirt choice didn't go unnoticed by this guy. Well played Sir.
Snake Eyes version 3 was one of my earliest GI Joe Figures.
Gi Joe issue 1 and 21 Silent Interlude have been reprinted numerous times. However, the back up story to issue 1 “Hot Potato” is usually not reprinted and that story hints that there is a connection between Scarlett and Snake Eyes which is not fleshed out until later issues.
I think the connection is the one alluded to in the comic. Scarlett looked just like Snake’s sister.
The character that brought me to this brand. I saw him hanging on the pegs at the store and didn't look back.
Sir..

Excellent video. It had to be tough to do this one as Snake Eyes was the breakout character. Something about a good guy wearing black. Thanks.
Laughed our loud at when he said he also comes with "the head of a second wolf he has murdered"
Wow! Thanks for the extremely thorough review of this pivotal character. Unfortunately, the overexposure hurts the mystique around this incredible Joe. He’s still awesome, though.
Tremendous review. Approx 8:30-8:41 - Had to pause the review and wipe tears of laughter away about the wolf comment. Keep up the great work!
That was pretty funny.
Love Snake Eyes, and the Ver. 1 uniform is my absolute favorite, it just looks so cool.
Great review (that lives up to the "definitive" title) of the first G.I.Joe figure I got as a kid.

Best way to follow a month of Cobra is literally the most popular Joe.

This is my favorite version of the resident Commando of the G.I. Joe team.
Great review Hoodie! My son and I love you're reviews. Hope you can do some more soon.
Classic figure💯💯💯
Wow! I think this is your BEST review to date! That's high praise, because I think that you always do outstanding reviews. This one though, is exceptional! You're back in the groove, and better than ever, HCC788!
Amazingly comprehensive, well researched review. I feel like I know the character 10 times better now.
I would love to see a classified version with a black commando jacket, similar to the thumbnail you posted.
Such a great, iconic character!
And then some!
Awesome video Hoodie!
Always love your videos bro! Great to see you back in full swing action!! Been hard to keep up with all your content lately!!
Always my favorite Joe.

Awesome and super indept review as always HCC. You definitely are THE best Gi Joe reviewer. Thank you for sharing.
Definitely my favorite character, good stuff 👍🏾
The Commando Snake Eyes is the best! I wish Hasbro would have made him like this in the live action movie.
Amazing review Commander! Just a awesome figure is general. Very basic but one of my favorites. Thank you Commander!
GI Joe resolute shows how much of a badass he is when he goes to fight storm shadow.
Phenomenally thorough video!
Really thought you were going to say he's "Silent...but deadly!" 🤣🥃🥃
Great video. I love your "min-review" of the Snake Eyes Origins movie. My thoughts exactly....."What the hell!?"😂😂
Black Noir is definitely my favorite GI Joe
I was confused at first about Snake Eyes in 82. I thought he was a bad guy, because he was in black and his name relates to a snake, so I thought he was Cobra, but his affiliation was G.I. Joe.
He's the Boba Fett of G.I. Joe.
In the Snake Eyes movie, he kept his friends close and enemies closer.
Good 👍 one HCC, Thank you
I always thought his code-name was inspired by the BOMB, since he was always last but decisive to help G.I. Joe win battles, alongside his pet wolf Timber !!
WOW. No frills, N0 paint, not much back story for v1. This should not be a popular character but actually is AWESOME. The most popular character of the series!
Well done! I think he was my 3rd figure. I still have him straight arms and all lol
Excellent take👍🏾
GI Joe Resolute gave us the perfect animated version of Snake-Eyes. I didn’t bother to watch the most recent movie because I’ve been a fan of Snake-Eyes since the beginning of ARAH. So I can’t bear to see yet another childhood hero of mine ruined by modern Hollywood.
Hilarious “Snake Eyes is over exposed also this is my 3rd video on Snake Eyes” 😭😭😭
Awesome video... As Always!
The classified commando Snake eyes that come with timber. Looks more like the ninja force Snake Eyes V4.
I wondered about the Johnny cash shirt until you threw out 'the man in black.' Way to draw it together.
Did he also use the Moe Howard eye poke technique?? Great review.
😎👍
Burning question: will we ever get Snake Eyes in drag and Timber with the hat and sunglasses that can dance? lol
great job!
Great video
Awesome video!!!
The best version. By far.
To me, SnakeEyes is 82-85. If any future versions are made, they must be based on those first 3
Great overall review, but I do think it was an oversight not to mention the near copy retro figure released several months ago by Hasbro. The latest o-ring figure is at least as relevant to the Snake Eyes V1/1.5 figure arc as the 6” homage, and probably more so.
That Snake-Eyes movie sounds like it got everything wrong at the same time.
Yesterday I learned there is a Batman vs Snake Eyes comic miniseries. What the heck is that about?
There was a Batman Fortnite six issue series where characters fight repeatedly because their memories are constantly wiped. Snake Eyes appears in issue 3 as the powers that be try to find an opponent that will keep Batman occupied so he doesn’t figure out what’s happening too quickly. I really enjoy the match up.
@@batandjoefan8108 Ah thank you :)
I’m probably about to get it, but I’m sticking with my guns. Yeah, it sucked as a whole… but the Snake-Eyes from the Stars and Stripes box-set (97?) is probably my favorite version of Snakes.

I don’t ever remember him being available either. I was pretty active in that, got the Manta, Hooded Cobra Commander, and one or two others.
I hope you figured out how to get the classified figure to look down.
Mine has nonissue looking down enough to contemplate his bellybutton lint. You might need to rotate the neck as it is a separate piece and articulated as well.
I wonder how deep Hasbro will go with Snake Eyes in the Classified line. 2 years in they're already getting close to needing blue paint.
Algorithm bump!
You forgot to mention that black is slimming!
Remember when Snake Eyes got kicked off a rooftop by Torch in season1 episode Cobra's Candidate? So much for master ninja.
I remember having the original snake eyes and Storm Shadow and then they made the second version
One might say snake eyes is silent but deadly😂
You forgot his proficiency in thumb wrestling lol
My first GIJOE figure.
"Head band"? That "Head band" is the strap holding on his goggles...🙄
No need to be sarcastic. We all make mistakes. Happy, little mistakes
Classified has already done enough Snake Eyes figures for a while but the V3 would probably be awesome in classified.

I never owned version 1 or 2 had the 89 one for me though the 85 one stands out
With all the extra articulation, snake eyes is ready to start an onlyfans
9:15 i think it actually called a cz scorpion
Snake eyes is a ninja that works as a commando for the gi joe team
I have four snake eyes and eight storm Shadows
Best video ever
I have a blue verison of this figure.
Only thing OG Snake eyes was missing was Timber.
Lol 👽 butt stuff 🤣 😂 true story Barney hill was abducted with his wife they were the first to be abducted their granddaughter is a ufc fighter Angela hill.
Ef Larry- he bent the knee for that bull💩fake snake-eyes movie that was beyond ridiculousus
Agreed. Plus, they ended up killing the original off. He was the most popular character in the entire line and they gender-bent him into a woman?! SMFH! The powers that be truly are trying to destroy my childhood.
Are you ok??? How is your family?
i shared it in my snake eyes declassified page on facebook
Btw….. I reeeaaally tried to like it but that movie was 💩
It was a little hard to follow.
The 6 inch figures gun looks like a nerd gun
becuase hasbro was being cute.. and made the gun based on differnt nerf guns
