    I`m a Sharks man, but geez, the Stormers are scoring some wonderful tries. They have the best backline currently in my opinion. Brilliant to see. Libbok for the Boks ?? Can`t see him not been called up. Great game !!

      If Libbok becomes a Bok regular, then I think he'll revolutionise the number 10 position because he's using 7s skills in 15s and just too fast and slick for many opponents.

    Manie is really growing into his own and might be the answer for the future 10. I really thought losing Edwil was a hole we couldn’t easily fill but Zas stepped up massively.

      10 Looks really good, Boks was my first thought. I'd love to see the SA domestic teams more competitive. I have been surprised at how badly they started the competition. I always thought they would dominate both home and away. Perhaps I was going on 2009 Bulls era. Leinster will be tough to beat and they have matured to a world-class team, with a conveyor belt of new talent coming through their academy.

    • @franko2053
      @franko2053 Před 2 lety +12

      It is not Super Rugby it is that schoolboy rugby is much more competitive in SA, the same with varsity rugby. Which means we produce more young rugby players that are used to playing high tempo rugby under pressure. This why we are successful at the world cups along with AUS & NZ. It is harder for a SA schoolboy to make it to pro, which means when he makes it he has faced a lot of adversity and will be able to perform under pressure.

      this is nothing new, it has been like that for most of the last 100 years. south africa definitely benefit from playing more expansive rugby lower down their system but they still play conservative rugby at test level. the french would also have something to say about passing and ball handling. i don't think there's a better team in world rugby at the moment.

    For years British rugby writers and critics mocked southern hemisphere rugby teams for their "soft" forward play,
    emphasis on scoring tries and high scoring games. Now British teams know what it is like to be on the receiving
    end of the fast, free flowing and attacking style of rugby from South African, New Zealand and Australian rugby teams.

    • @Mr___X
      @Mr___X Před 2 lety

      That's not true, it's the defence that was questioned. There's no doubt the Bok forwards are peerless in world rugby. Only the Kiwis, French, and English can compete - and even then, only temporarily. However, the defence leaves a lot to be desired. Don't judge European rugby on the current state of the Welsh regions. They are awful and at the end of 10+ years of complete mismanagement (it would be like judging South Africa in 2017). There are 5-6 English Premiership sides, and the same again in France, who would give the SA teams a good test.

      World Rugby has basically changed the rules to suite All black and Aus Rugby and now SA is just playing to those rules. Before Super rugby flat passes were always seen as forward passes in SA but now its gotten worse that some passes traveling obviously forward can be deemed legal if it comes "backwards out the hands."

    As a sharkie, I find myself whooping with delight at all the local teams at the moment, for playing some scintillating rugger (& improving) & I really enjoyed this Stormers game!
    At LAST, there's been a sensible, gradual upward trajectory of the entire SA system - coinciding with Rassie's return from Munster. Got so sick of the constant shooting in the foot upheavel that came with our diabolical administration of the game from the top all the way down, & constant under-performing at every level.
    I really don't care if we lose games in good contests, but I loathe losing thro mediocre under-performance. We're a nation burstinig at the seems with insane talent & athletes. Long may it continue to improve ... finally!
    And there's a message in there somewhere for the entire nation, way beyond the rugby.

      Profound words the &as a fellow proud Sharkie, I get &echo your message beyond Rugby. If this country's citizens, all races, would come together, focus on one goal of building it, get the best people who are only interested in performance &unity to run things, we would be the best country in the world, I swear. But all go back to our "little corners" to seek validation amongst "our own" &spread nonsense about each other &loose sight of the end goal, it's sad. Look at what happens when teams with players of all races really come together &play for a common cause.
