Vampire: the Masquerade - Clan Gangrel - History (Lore)

Few know the true history of this clan, for theirs is not a tradition of book-keeping, but of spoken stories, and over time these legends have been handed down, generation to generation, and have followed the children of Ennoia around the world.
In this video, you will learn about their origin, about the matron who would become their founder, and about the mysteries surrounding her embrace. You will also follow as the Gangrel predict the fall of Rome, and join forces with the Tzimisce against the hated Tremere.
Clan Gangrel may have left the Camarilla, but they are by no means any less strong for it.

I searched up the actual meaning of Gangrel and Google said a vagabond or vagrant. On the flip side I also found Gangrel on urban dictionary too.
Yep, I believe that's where the clan name originates from.

Gangrels were quite interesting to me in Vampire Masquerade bloodlines
They're a super-interesting clan! Was my first pick back when I started playing :)
Damn, I always thought the Gangrel got their clan curse for betraying the ravnos antediluvian.
That's another theory! There's no actual true cause for it. The Gangrel are a highly unstable bloodline though, hence why they have so many off-shoots.
Though they are not typically too involved in the politics of the Camarilla, I prefer them as valued members of the Ivory Tower rather than not.
Yeah, I agree, the Gangrel saw the use for the Camarilla and I think V5 sort of cemented that the clan didn't really leave, despite Xaviar declaring it so.
fav larp character i played was a Gangrel. went very old school anti faction didn't trust the cam's, sabbat or anarch's. Fully believed in the Gangrel's independence; hung out w/a Brujah, Follower of Set and a Nos. Called the Gangrel of that area fully loyal to the cam's lapdogs and refused to meet the prince until I decided if I was sticking around.
Haven't had a chance to play the tabletop yet (although I'm planning to) but I _have_ played and beaten Bloodlines recently, and I've been really getting into the lore. Seeing as I beat the game as a Gangrel this seems like a cool thing to watch lol, already saw the one on Nosferatu

Gangrel was a favorite wrestler of mine from the late 90s
Actually its very possible that ennoia was actually a kinfolk more then anything which is likely why ennoia was what she was

Vampire folklore
It's all muddled folklore; Some say that she was a vampire as well, maybe even that she embraced Caine and would be Gen 0, but it's all hypothesizing, and there is no 100% true answer. The Developers left this open.
@@ThePrimogen if you read the torah/talmud its not muddled folklore at all, only in the world of darkness lore is it muddled. She was adams first wife and was kicked out of heaven for disobeying adam, but not god. since she never disobeyed god she is literally without original sin, therefore immortal as god originally created man and woman to live forever. only with the introduction of sin was mortality also introduced. you just dont know your myths if you think its muddled.
john turtle she’s not a human female as we know it though, as she was created by god from clay, rather than Adam’s rib. Another key thing is in WOD lore she is clearly defined as a supernatural, and powerful creature teaching cain the blood magic of the disciplines. It’s probably most likely based on WOD lore that she is 0th gen, although it matters little as all vampires are descendants of Caine despite what folklore they might have.
What’s more Adam was a uniquely powerful sorcerer or maybe even mage, as show in the book of Caine (again WOD lore, since this is what this is about, not real folklore and myth)

I love that various theories that have Ennoia being directly, or at least indirectly, responsible for Werewolves, Gypsies, Clan Ravnos, AND Clan Gangrel. :-)
