thank you. you explained it so well. I think that you mean that extension cords tend to create loose connections. Loose connections with high power appliance on them will create heat at loosing connecting points, which can cause fire
Yeah, well, at any rate. One has a little problem and then all of a sudden one realizes there are some really more important things one should figure out. The story of my life I think.
Thank you so much every electric heater I have owned has a too hot plug. I will replace my outlet tomorrow & not use it tonight while I sleep. Not worth the risk.
The best to combat a cold winter night to take a warm bath or shower before going to bed. It is never good to use heater at night whether it's electric or gas because it is also left unintended.
@@MrSupernova111 don't be crazy my friend. I never use my heater overnight because of the scary electrical noises it makes in the socket, but 2 days ago I wanted to be warm and not freeze to death so I plugged in my heater and went to sleep, hours later I woke up to a sparkling outlet making loud electrocuting sound, quickly turned off the heater and it stopped. Which one's more painful? Freezing to death or burning to death? I don't know about you but I'd rather freeze...
THANK YOU SIR I THINK YOU JUST SAVED MY HOUSE AND FAMILY MY PLUG I WILL REPLACE IT GETS WAY HOT THE COFFFEE POT EVEN NEW ONE GOT HOTER BURNING HOT TO THE TOUCH YEAH SO IM GOING TO REPLACE THE PLUG LIKE TODAY THANKS FOR THIS SAFETY VIDEO
MY GOD THANKS MAN U JUST SAVED MY PS4 THANKS IM GOING TO REPLACE MY OUTLET RIGHT NOW : ) THAT JUST SAVED SO MUCH MONEY BECAUSE I BOUGHT SO MUCH STUFF TO DECORATE OUR HOUSE AND IF IT CATCHES ON FIRE THEN THERE GOES ABOUT 8000 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!
If you have an outlet that is no longer working -- I have one in garage with slight browning on faceplate.....what is risk if any of fire as long as I do not use the outlet. Will repair eventually given COVID-19, but will have to think of earlier if this is a fire hazard even without using. Thanks.
Extension cords and multi plugs, you just need to look at the allowed amps and volts, calculate the watts and you know if this cable will work. Modern Cords mostly already allow high watt values, but you need to look closer at everything that looks old. Better just dont use if unsure. I just "smarted" my (temporary) electric heater with some smart plugs. Nice if it works, but risky none the less. ..Probably shitty spelling, sry.
Well, this sucks. I'm looking for a small space heater for my room but its not my house and I don't want to be responsible for any damage. The problem is that my room is upstairs and its often colder than the rest of the house.
Extension cords are really only designed for temporary use, not as a means to extend your homes wiring. A much safer and long term solution would be to install an outlet at the washer location or have an electrician do so, so you won't have to use an extension cord.
So we had an extension cord for our deep freeze and it’s been plugged in for years and just now I tried to unplug it but it wouldn’t come out and it started to smoke a little.. should I be worried?
Get rid of the extension cord (it's probably damaged and dangerous) and plug directly into an outlet. This may require running an additional circuit for the freezer by a qualified individual. Examine both the outlet and the freezer plug. If any scorching on either, replace them. Pay the extra ($6 - $10) for a spec grade receptacle.
I had a plug that fused to the extension cord. But that has never happened with any other appliance when used with the same extension cord. I think it is the appliance itself. Especially since it is a humidifier that heats as well. The plug in the outlet is hot but cools almost immediately when unplugged. Could not quite understand why the plug got so hot it fused to the extension cord. I think it is time to get a cool mist humidifier though. Pretty sure it is the appliance.
Short answer...no not always... The breaker will only trip when the current rises about what the breaker is rated for. Bedrooms, living rooms, hallways = 15 amp....... and kitchen, dining area = 20 amps.
i acidentaly touch one of my plugs that wasnt plugged in allthe way with a charger metal and it sparked and the charger broke and burnt but the other plug had a little burn on it can i still use it?
I went to sleep with my heater on, when I woke up hours later I heard a noise of electricity going crazy at the socket, when I looked I saw crazy sparkles. I turned off the heater and started my research.
Why can't the electrician upgrade the power outlet so it can handle the high current needed for the appliance? Should we also throw out the window our microwaves, stoves, etc??
Nice explanation of outlet heat problems. Thank you!

Thank you , explained very well.
Thanks this is very educational since is something that has happen and did not know the reason and now I know especially when using the space heater

@@jasonMB999 . Sounds like user error or faulty wiring in your house.
@@MrSupernova111 no, it's just the heater uses too much power. It melted the extension plug into to socket years ago.
I came here due to it being 2 am and my outlet almost got caught on fire
It was my dryer

Why should i not use a high watt power strip?
If i only use it for 1 appliance.
Well done. Are you going to create any more videos?

Those really are flimsy outlets for something which is capable of delivering 15 amps.
Lol if you have a good extencion cord you are good. I’ve been using my washing machine with an extension cord for 10 years now and it still works fine
newer design washer use about 500 watts, a electric heater use about 1500 watts

if if starts to smoke, there is high temperature inside the plug. you should be very concern about it. you should probably replace the plug

Can I ask please, if the outlet melts the plug, should the electricity meter trip ? Thank you

Brought to you by a manufacturers association.... don't always blame the appliance... blame the outlet.
It’s just science!!

JayX Vlogs pull it out and check for melting on the back side if it’s melted replace it if it’s not it’s your choice

Um my little brothers plug prong burned a little does that mean a fire will start
yes
LPG is the best heating source

I am 😨 scared i sleep near to outlets thakns sir
Well i got the crap scared out of me because it hapenned
My space heater just made smoke come from the outlet.
my electrician told me avoid using any electric heater if possible, you rather turn up the central heat.
Yeah, I tossed that old thing out. I'd rather be cold than on fire lol.
Why can't the electrician upgrade the power outlet so it can handle the high current needed for the appliance? Should we also throw out the window our microwaves, stoves, etc??
Eh, may as well
Never use power strips, extension cords or adapters? You serious bruh?
Jesus Christ for the high voltages appliances. Happened to my family twice. The second time when using the vacuum. I didn't expect that
Don't plug your microwave or space heater into a cheap power bar or your gonna have a bad time
Do not use power strips, extension cords, or adapters on high _current_ appliances.
Hmm
