    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for your Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter R review.
    I personally think we are blessed to have British air rifle manufacturing companies who are making air rifles to the standard we enjoy and maybe take for granted.
    Generally, we associate great quality engineering, machining and assembly with Germany.
    Having shot an Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter R, I tried a Weihrauch HW100 at the Shooting Show 2022.
    Acknowledging the HW100 is a fantastic air rifle, I preferred the cocking lever action of the S510. To me, its just engineering excellence in ergonomic study, where Air Arms have got this exactly right.
    To me, the HW100 seemed to try and take your hand where it didn't want to go.
    In comparison, the S510 was just poetry.
    I'd say both equal on accuracy.
    I just think that the air rifle user in this country should feel very grateful in what British companies Daystate, BSA, and Air Arms are producing. It's just fantastic that what they are now producing are world beaters. All for us to enjoy!
    Thank you, Chris.

    Enjoyed the review. If you put a good scope on the gun and had more time with it you would definitely see how accurate the s510 is. I've been lucky enough to have used many makes of guns but air arms are my go to make for target or hunting. Keep them coming and stay safe.

    It is indeed an excellent rifle , I've always maintained that if I stuck ALL my rifles in a magic cauldron , mixed em all up , and pulled out a " fusion " of all , it would be my ultimate Sporter R ( .177 ) jack of all trades , and master of many .. (with the exception of one other rifle) , scope it up with something descent ( nikko Stirling diamond FFP ) and you've got ( in .177 ) a damn accurate rifle , OK Chris , your right , it's not going to win the world bench rest championship , but it ain't going to miss many bunny rabbits either , AND , give a good account of itself on the HFT course .
    Few niggles being the " in trigger " safety button , not so much with bare hands , but a bit of a bugger gloved , the way you fill it , although one of the safest ways being a T connection is a bit stiff to remove once filled , ok I'm being picky , best thing is too remove whip first , the wiggle it off gently , else you'll hit the silencer , and if your like me , I like to keep things without unnecessary scratches . Other point to make , when filling up the rifle , go by the bottle ( as should always be the way ) as the funny Austin 1100 type speedo gauge which doubles as a pressure gauge doesn't catch up with the filling for a few mins , probably no problem if only doing it to 200bar ( and not 250 ) .. probably around 80 - 90 shots in .177 , although again , this depends on how much juice you put in , all in all , one of the best all round rifles ever , I let my Mrs shoot mine while I were setting up the scope on her CLX a few weeks back at the range , had a really hard time prizing it back off her ... She's a novice .. shows how good it is ...
    A biathlon drop lever on the cocking arm improves an otherwise excellent cycling motion .. great review though , again the guy / gal who buys the demo model shown will be more then pleased , specially if used in field ( .22 ) ..

    Good review, but maybe pellet selection could be explored? My regged S510 US prefers heavier pellets, 10.3 grain ,177 4.52 Exact Heavies, or the FX variant for ultimate grouping. Mine is used for range target work an is zeroed at 50 yds.

    I still have my Air Arms pro sport which is the reason I got into Higher end Air rifles. The only thing I regret about it, is not buying another Air Arms. I have a Daystate redwolf HP .22, I sold my HW-100 to afford it and If I had to do it again I would have bought this instead. Air Arms Is a top tier rifle no two ways about it. I like how you don't cherry pick you target uploads, It's far more genuine. The shot count is a very fair weight trade of in my opinion. It's no fun carrying around 15 pounds when you only need that one perfect shot.

    • @southwestshooters
      @southwestshooters  Před 2 lety

      Air arms have really gone way up in my estimation recently. I love their guns. I make no efforts to hide my love of Daystate, but Air Arms are a close second. As long as you have a gun that works for you then it's absolutely fine! Do you miss the HW100?

    • @ravenshield7823
      @ravenshield7823 Před 2 lety

      @@southwestshooters I do miss it because it never gave me a single problem and it was so accurate. I guess I was just a bit dreamy over the RedWolf and it is a great gun, it's just that the HP version even on low, slings some serious lead and really needs to be cleaned very often, and if you don't, take the barrel out and remove the breach O-ring to do so, It's liable to blow out on you in the next use from running patches by it. When removing the barrel, you take a risk of damaging the 2 very thin O-rings that seal the transfer port hole, because the port hole is very sharp. So you need to have the proper O-rings on stand by just to clean it, if you want it to be reliable next use. And if you are using it in a hunting situation, the electronics time you out and now you miss your shot because you have to cycle the on off switch a few times to liven it up, I have also double fed this gun several times because of this. None of these issues were even in the radar of the HW-100. But my HP is a 100 yard gun with far greater capability. I am more of a target guy myself, and it's a lot of fun to push your targets out really far and hit them but at the end of the day, it's gotta be cleaned and that might stop you from doing it in the first place unless you really want to shoot. I guess I could have just said yes lol. I do!

    Hi Chris, I also think it's the most beautiful carabiner in the world, I bought it a month ago because I've been dreaming about it for a long time, but unfortunately the focus is a bit weak, like in this video, I want to ask you as an expert on the subject if I can somehow improve it, maybe make a warranty claim , on chrono everything is ok and on the dial there are big bounces, I shoot only with jsb exact 4.52. I also have an AA s400f classic and it is much more accurate. Please suggest something. Regards Artur from Poland.

      If I may humbly suggest, have you tried a neoprene silencer cover on your S510? That should protect from the coupling scratches/damage.
