Lol none of these have any evidence. That’s like saying “this burrito shows how good food can taste, and this apple represents how bad it can taste, and this pickle shows how healthy food is, and this orange shows how food is covered in a shell” smh
Notice if you don't finish off the core it destroys itself along with the player. This could symbolize that the child had an opportunity to finally accept his behavior and keep doing what he loves, but if he doesn't take that chance and leaves all the negativity just sitting there, it will just come back to destroy him emotionally. Notice how everything just fades to white, it's gone, everything that child loves got destroyed because he didn't take his chance. And now he gave in to society because of it.
Lol - Mart To add even more connectivity to the Tabuu theory, the "attacks" the orb does is similar to Tabuu's insta-kill rings in Brawl. So if the negativity in your head is never destroyed, then society's taboos will destroy you.
Before the core explodes i noticed the spell it shows before the insta-kill rings well.. Kill the player, kinda like before tabuu shoots insta kill rings.
fun fact. if you spend to much time on that last orb it will do one last attack that will be instant death. it could mean to there's a little bit of doubt left and if he doesn't smash the orb fast enough that doubt will grow.
4:06 I couldn't help but notice that the master edges take on the form of five swords, to me it's a reference to the tarot card known as Five of Swords, when its the right way up this card symbolises dishonour, degregation and/or humiliation but if it's upside down it represents being disarmed, exposed with a reason to regret
Maybe it's the 5 stages of grief Master giant is denial Master beast is anger Master edges is bargaining Master shadow is depression Master fortress and the orb is acceptance
Interesting take, Conner. Honestly, I don't know which theory I think is more believable, MatPat's theory that Master Core is Sakurai's inner struggle with the Smash Bros series, or that it's the inner struggle of all of us, that we have to stop doing the things we love, because they're "childish" and society thinks it's "taboo" to love those things as an adult. Both are really believable. MatPat's is believable, because Sakurai has stated that he doesn't like to be forced making sequels to his creations, but he also doesn't want anyone else taking over, so he keeps making Smash Bros, even though he probably thinks there were enough already. Yours is also believable, if we're considering your view on Tabuu and it's not just about Sakurai, but about all of us. We are forced to leave behind the things we loved as a kid by society, because if we don't, we're "abnormal" and will be treated as such. We feel like we're outcasts, like we have to change, adjust ourself to the normal people, but it's hard, because deep down inside, we don't want to. Growing up is hard, because the inner struggle is so hard. In the communities I'm in I don't feel like an outcast, because in those communities it's not weird to love Pokémon as an 18 years old, it's not weird to rewatch Yu-Gi-Oh! we like what we like and not what others want us to like. But for the outside world, we're still weird. I don't go out in the weekends, because I'm introverted and like to be by myself - I listen to "outdated" or "weird" music, instead of the (IMO) soulless music of today - I'm a dork. But I don't care, because I still have my communities and a few friends who accept me. Nintendo, man. People say it's for kids, but damn, they make us go deep.
ConnerTheWaffle This time it actually applies to me personally. Even if the theory is just that, a theory, and you're just defeating the bad guy, it still speaks to me. Even when your or MatPat's theories don't apply to me, like your last theory about why we cry during video games, I can look from the perspective of someone to which it does apply, so even though it doesn't apply to me, by putting myself in someone else's shoes, I usually have an understanding of what you're saying and what those people might be feeling. And, you're also cool and I like you :) But I'm still thinking about accepting your friend request from the video about friendship.
I agree with everything and ur last 2 paragraphs r describing my past I was laughed at for not liking cod and liking Pokémon. Never did watcg yu gi oh not my thing but I dont tease their view I respect it and try to learn more and all the music today is utterly tasteless rise against as a example r a amazing band and always have a message they send out whereas if u support miley Cyrus I mean u can but the people show how shallow they r and being different is always better. Super smash bros Nintendo 64: 6 years old Super smash bros melee: 8 years old Super smash bros brawl: 15 years old Super smash bros for WiiU: 21 years old Super smash bros ultimate: 25 years old
+ShadowAndrew No, what I meamt from that is how people act like liking nintendo games are taboo'ed in Middle School. Anyway, Middle School is easy for me
If you let the final form of Master Core survive for 45 seconds, it rises above the stage and then releases five Off Waves. These Off Waves behave as they did in "Brawl:" unless you dodge every one, you're dead (if you dodge them all or if you have a stock remaining, Master Core just self-destructs and you win anyway). This attack is the biggest reason behind my explanation: I think Master Core is some combination of Master Hand and Tabuu, with Tabuu pulling the strings. Tabuu has already demonstrated that he can control Master Hand, and he's never been able to act directly in the World of Trophies--he's always needed to act through someone else. Why not just possess Master Hand? If Master Hand gives Tabuu the ability to influence the World of Trophies directly, then it would be too good a chance to resist. Also, we know that Tabuu has a thing for mazes, so Master Fortress seems his style.
Armed Bunny SHUT. YOUR. FACE. Everytime Dark Pit is mentioned there is always people like you to ruin it! If you want Dark Pit to be a pallete swap then why not Lucina? Why not freakin' Dr. Mario? And don't say that's stupid. Because it's already done with Wireframe Little Mac. It's already been done with female Robin. I'm not really defending Dark Pit anymore, I'm just saying if you hate him, why not hate all clones in general?
ahbeef This is what i mean! Playing Dark Pit? One Thousand years of endless agony, of course! Dr. Mario? Don't diss him, HE'S A FREAKING GOD!!!! Why him of every clone?
(I'm italian, my english grammar probably isn't right) Your theory is really beautiful, I like it. I think that Master Core is the rappresentation of all the hard things you can find in every super smash bros games. Fighting character as Mario, Little Mac, Yoshi, DK, "animals" character as Pikachu, Lucario, Greninja, Dedede, and swordsmans as Ike, Marth, Robin and the Master Fortress as Smash Run and the stages. While you're playing Classic Mode he (Master Core) learn anything about the moves of all the characters. He can eat and spit enemies like Yoshi, Kirby and Dedede (Giant Form), Pikachu's down b, Dedede's up b or Bowser and Yoshi's down b, Greninja's lateral b (Beast Form), Robin's standard b, Ike's up b (Edges Form), In the Master Shadow Form he assimilates anything he learned about you and he IS you. First to be the Master Fortress Form he think: "I can't smash you with your own attacks? So I'll do it with the power of the stages and of your enemies that you always fight!" I don't know if this was a good idea, but... he do it... so........ The last Master Core Ball form is the Final Smash. When a character broke the Smash Ball aren't invincible and it's better to smash them first they use their own Final Smash. The fighters don't wanna be in Smash, and they know that if they'll kill Master Core they'll be safe. But some of them are directly controlled by Master Core, so they'll fight against you. In the 3DS version of the game you can choose if fight against a easy, a medium or a hard difficult fighter choosing the way you'll go. This ways mean how much the characters are controlled by Master Core. Most they' re controlled, harder will be the fight against you. So, this is my own theory Again, sorry for my grammar error
I was honestly expecting an identical video to the game theorists, but you turned a completely different way and it was equally great. Just shows how many different ways there are to interpret this stuff
You've figured out who Tabuu and Master Core possibly are, now you need to find out who Galeem and Dharkon are. Their identities may be conected to Tabuu's because the cliff at the end of Brawl is the same one at the beginning of World of Light
This makes me wonder how Crazy Hand felt about this experience, seeing as they’re treated like siblings, maybe Crazy Hand ran away because his older brother was getting violent and edgy. Scaring his own sibling. Crazy Hand was eccentric in his mannerisms, destructive for fun, but witnessing his brother actually get this way due to his insecurities and dark thoughts seeping out onto the surface, it wasn’t fun anymore, this got him concerned for his mental health, believing he would go literally insane, he fled, and hid, fearing the worst. Never in his life would his older brother act out in such a brutal way. But deep down he knows he needs help, he was struggling. But can’t, as much as he really wants to, he can’t, so he only watches as his brother fights his own inner demons using the toys they loved playing with.
Oh btw, you can also notice that as the child grows up, its not just some toys he play with normally because he got them somehow, in smash 4 and more recently ultimate, you can see the child makes a real collection, bringing the toys he had lost and many others, not just for fun, but for the sake of having them
Guys btw if u were wondering what the heck the "shadow enemies" in the fortress were, they were dark versions of 4 different versions of enemies from Smash Run
Holy crap. This changed my perspective of the series. This is probably one of my favorite videos on CZcams :D thank you and keep up the amazing videos!!
It could possibly mean that the child succumbs to his inner struggle, loses, and conforms to the society. Which means, the child lost and the society wins.
ALVIN!!! Anyway, great video again! I never thought Smash brothers can be so symbolical, but now that you point it out , just wow, I have something to think about next time I play Classic mode
Wow, an awesome theory indeed, it really goes deep and even more deep for me because I have always been an outclass not only because I like videogames even tough im 21 years old but also because Im a woman and videogames were not meant for girls "sarcasm". I couldnt play with the boys and girls around me didnt like games, so I was usually alone, being told by everyone that I should be a lady and stop playing those violent things. This got worse as I grew up, and the pain Master Core is going through really speaks to me not only as a videogamer. Eventually I found people who accepted me and share my hobbies and things got easier and easier. But for my family I will always be the weird one but now I dont really care. As I heard once, "what is normal for the spider is caos for the fly". Love your content, you are an amazing person :D
This Thorie is very sadly, if u ask me.... You make your “job“ great, listening to you- I cant describe it. Its amazing how you do that and im happy to watch your videos :)
A bit late. But from what I understand his fascination with his toys and childhood could be seen as him being withdrawn or obsessed. An Otaku. I'm talking actual one. Someone who focuses more on hobbies and fun than being a productive member of society for some reason or another (Mental issues, etc.) Heavily heavily frowned upon, so this theory has some merit to it for sure if you go at it from that angle.
I think you'll be interested to know the sybology of the five of Swords in Tartot as the themes the card represents in both its upright and reversed positions directly parallel its appearence in the psyche of the young man Upright: Conflict, tension, loss, defeat, win at all costs, betrayal Reversed: Open to change, past resentment
U really did an awesome job explaining the struggle of growing up. Society telling u it's time to change or else people will think your abnormal. Part of us wants to be accepted by society, but then other part of us doesn't want to leave what we loved as child behind; memories of Smashbros and etc, are what we are. Yet grownups or communities keep setting these Taboos on us. And to make matters worse, a part u might feel like they're right. Outernal struggke is one think, but internal another.
Good job man, it's the best theory on Master Core I've ever saw and I now think like you. You deserved one more push on the subscribe button, and now you have it !
Hey ConnerTheWaffle, I just want to let you know that I absolutely ENJOY your content. No joke! When I'm bored, I just search your channel and pick any video from you because they're all amazing! I remember actually stumbling across your channel years back, but I never paid attention to who's channel it was that these videos belonged to. Only now, in 2016, did I come crawling back (and realize, "OMG I remember him!"). Thanks for the amazing content and keep up the great work! I'll be supporting you all the way! :D
I. Thought of master edges as the child inflicting damage upon himself, some slow cuts, other quick stabs, which were those hard-to-avoid attacks, master beast for the child doing animal abuse...that is about all I have, what I tried to say there is "the child" had become insane, and there is no stopping him...
omgee wat if all this is true but the toys arent being conrolled all this is happening without the kid realizing it till the master shadow seeing as how those are that toys. the toys can also have been painted black by jerks at
Wow. I was already a smasher as long as I can remember. Now being a smasher has a whole new meaning for me. At first I thought being a smasher meant being a fighter but now for me it means to battle ones inner demons, coming to terms with yourself, being yourself, doing what makes you happy and not choosing not to conforming to society's wants
I'll kick the beginning off. The child is now 25. He has reached the stage of his life where he has no desire to do anything anymore. His life outside playing with toys is miserable (assuming he does other things, most people who have hobbies still have responsibilities), and is reaching the point where playing with them is nothing more than a coping mechanism. Playing with the toys themselves are being consumed by the "light" that is the new depression the hand is experiencing. However, Kirby, being the "favorite toy" (since most kids have a favorite of whatever toys they have) is the one exception to this rule. The other numerous hands is everyone else around the child going through the same depression. I leave it to you to fill in the rest.
I totally appreciate the idea of theorizing a different concepts of what master core is, but I think Matt Pat really nailed it on the Master Hand / master core identity
I think this one is more believable, the one of Game Theory feels a little arbitrary, like thinking in the theory first and later trying to tie details to justify it. This one can be deduced directly from what happens in the game (the fact that we already know who is Master Hand, and that all of those monsters comes from inside Master Hand is a pretty big suggestion that is something from inside "the kid"'s mind).
if you feel the sheer depression from being an outcast of "that child" you can unleash your anger on: A: yourself and commit suicide,or B:everything else around you which is split up in 2 catagories B1:the servant. Joining an hatred group and trying to murder as much people as you can before you die. and B2:the Leader. by brainstorming for years how to form your (hate)organization against (a certain group) of people and try to pull off an Adolf Hitler which often result your own downfall because the destructive force you created turning against you,OR die because of the reprecautions of your actions.
I think that master core is just representing the stress that "the child" has to deal with like doing his job, keeping his money straight, paying his bills, or maybe taking care of another child (unlikely) and he's just taking it out on his toys or as I call them "action figures" and trying to destroy them when he doesn't really know what's going on just acting out of stress.
At least Lucas came back! Sadly, you need to buy him to play as him. He doesn't cost too much though if you are only buying him for one version of Smash Bros. I think under a dollar's worth. If you are not playing the US version of Smash Bros, then I dunno the costs.

LOL - MART Jokes and shiz Wow - Just Wow...
I noticed the master core coming out from the wrist
Lol - Mart To add even more connectivity to the Tabuu theory, the "attacks" the orb does is similar to Tabuu's insta-kill rings in Brawl. So if the negativity in your head is never destroyed, then society's taboos will destroy you.
Lol - Mart It’s kinda like a bad ending. Who knew Smash Bros had different endings before Ultimate? 😅

fun fact. if you spend to much time on that last orb it will do one last attack that will be instant death. it could mean to there's a little bit of doubt left and if he doesn't smash the orb fast enough that doubt will grow.
So 'The Child' decided that society was right and basically threw the toys away...
Holy $#!7 Sakurai dude what.

True bro true👏
I rather have sticks and stones thrown at me then words. Because even know when you call me something mean in a place i feel safe it stings.....
@the meeper
What a profound, edgy, original comment that I totally haven’t seen in the feminist section of tumblr before
Maybe it's the 5 stages of grief
Master giant is denial
Master beast is anger
Master edges is bargaining
Master shadow is depression
Master fortress and the orb is acceptance
Edward Land maybe
Interesting take, Conner. Honestly, I don't know which theory I think is more believable, MatPat's theory that Master Core is Sakurai's inner struggle with the Smash Bros series, or that it's the inner struggle of all of us, that we have to stop doing the things we love, because they're "childish" and society thinks it's "taboo" to love those things as an adult. This is a really interesting take on it, good job
This "child" is so edgy, I bet his main is Dark Pit :^)
If that's the case he also makes bad decisions

Gam Cube The "intro" in SSB3DS has every trophy alligned. That kid is a fucking scalper.
You ever wonder...Why Pikachu,Fox,Meta Knight, and Sheik were OP? simple, the child LOVED these franchises of the previously mentioned characters.
And he accidentally broke Meta Knight's arm. Now he's a broken character.

Your theory is really beautiful, I like it.

He can eat and spit enemies like Yoshi, Kirby and Dedede (Giant Form), Pikachu's down b, Dedede's up b or Bowser and Yoshi's down b, Greninja's lateral b (Beast Form), Robin's standard b, Ike's up b (Edges Form),
In the Master Shadow Form he assimilates anything he learned about you and he IS you. First to be the Master Fortress Form he think: "I can't smash you with your own attacks? So I'll do it with the power of the stages and of your enemies that you always fight!"
I don't know if this was a good idea, but... he do it...
So, this is my own theory
Again, sorry for my grammar error

This was a great video! Smash has such a great hidden backstory!(also, that part at the end was hilarious!)
So what your saying that the toys I play with are charecters and I'm the bad guy and all my nightmares and bad thoughts are the final boss?
COOL!
what if master core was chocolate
iWander
what kind of question even is this
that's sort of like saying "what if world war 2 was riceballs", it doesnt make any sense
Tom Carr the goal of smash is to defeat and eat him
iWander wait did you say chocolate..... CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+iWander im diein of laughter xD

You're such a cheesy cool guy Conner.
Awesome video. When I watched the one about taboo, I was hoping you would do something on master core. So thanks! Keep up the good work!
3:55 Heartless! KILL EM ALL!
The ending pretty much sums up my life!
The entire video sums up my life
Boohoo
In other words master core represents the internet
I thought it represented depression
Nice Theory Conner, your like a really deep thinker and I just had to really agree with the sticks and stones part
Conner got really intense in this.
Well done Mr Waffel Guy. You put out some amazing content :)
Guys btw if u were wondering what the heck the "shadow enemies" in the fortress were, they were dark versions of 4 different versions of enemies from Smash Run
but WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?1?
Holy crap. This changed my perspective of the series. This is probably one of my favorite videos on CZcams :D thank you and keep up the amazing videos!!
But wait...What does the fact that the core kills you if you don't kill it after a while symbolize? It is completely identical to Tabuu's waves.
I'm guessing that it symbolizes depression being more powerful than the child so the child dies.
Archangel437 Wow, didnt expect that 0_o
Archangel437 djeezes
Tabuu represent society, so his waves represent society winning.
Moref17 I'm glad you noticed alvin :) I was hoping someone would!
When you think of a beast many different things can pop up - For instance, this buff guy.
BROCK LESNAR
aka ike
Billy mays?
A dog?
This was very interesting yet disturbing... somehow... Master Core reminds me of my inner thoughts in some ways. Huh...
This might be a bit late but no one preaches against girls playing video games. Also male gamers have been often portrayed negatively in media.
This Thorie is very sadly, if u ask me....
You make your “job“ great, listening to you- I cant describe it. Its amazing how you do that and im happy to watch your videos :)
Amazing theory bro good work.
That was amazing! Liked, favorited, shared, absolutely fantastic! And that ending was hilarious, you're awesome!
Pleeeeasseeee do some voice work for something, your narration for this is amazing :D
so, technicly, the super smash serie say then society is shit
Well done! I like that 8-bit SSB4 theme and nice new hairstyle!
John Yang Thank you very much my friend! :)
once more this represents my life
I think you'll be interested to know the sybology of the five of Swords in Tartot as the themes the card represents in both its upright and reversed positions directly parallel its appearence in the psyche of the young man
Upright: Conflict, tension, loss, defeat, win at all costs, betrayal
Reversed: Open to change, past resentment
Master beast looks like salandit a bit.
That was so D

always surprised at the quality of these video's, need to get your name out there man :)
This is deep lore for a fun family game lol
THAT ENDING WAS GREAT! IT WAS THE BEST ENDING SO FAR!
What about the master core's final attack. It's self destruct ability. What does that represent?
+The Golden Ninja IDK it could be the person committing suicide because of the struggle...
ow the edge
It could be the depression trying to push itself back into the boy's life.
Good theory actually@Luis teh Gamer 64
+0DarkTemplar9 TDT thanks i guess lol
Well, the self destruct is modeled after Tabuu's off waves, so that means society won. The child gave in.
Good job man, it's the best theory on Master Core I've ever saw and I now think like you.
You deserved one more push on the subscribe button, and now you have it !
This theory, the way you told... sounded epic :D
Is your intro like an SSBB victory screen
If there was a CRAZY CORE..
why does your pose at the end of your intro remind me of something...
Its probably ness from earthbound
TheMegaBusterz Yup, it's Nes's' victory pose from Smash Bros. Melee :)
ConnerTheWaffle
nice Ness pose love it a lot. Its nice seeing you do stuff Ness related :]
Aja Chase
and here is a video request do something about earthbound related i would totally love that. :]
I. Thought of master edges as the child inflicting damage upon himself, some slow cuts, other quick stabs, which were those hard-to-avoid attacks, master beast for the child doing animal abuse...that is about all I have, what I tried to say there is "the child" had become insane, and there is no stopping him...
Can you do a research on how is Galeem and Dharkon in Super smash bro‘s ultimate?
love the theory and yeah, anything that makes you happy, keep being yourself instead of being normal
omgee wat if all this is true but the toys arent being conrolled all this is happening without the kid realizing it till the master shadow seeing as how those are that toys. the toys can also have been painted black by jerks at
I'm now waiting for who are Galeem and Dharkon theory.
Growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional
i cant believe i'm actually learning things from the internet o_O wow
your videos are the best things i`ve ever watched conner please never stop making these amazing videos
Dude that went deep. Awesome!! :D
P.S.What's the name of the song during Master Fortress and Master Core??
Just master core
SANS
I would say: Sticks and Stones may break my bones,But mental wounds Will never heal
Normal? NORMAL!? FOR F--- SAKE SOCIETY NOBOD IS "NORMAL"! EVERYONE IS UNIQE!
Also, GAMETHEORY said this differently and MY GRANDAD PLAYS WITH ME!
What do you mean?
You make me feel very very very happy Conner
You're very passionate about this, Conner. Could it be that you've felt the same way about video games? I know I have.
Playing with toys surely does bring a smile to my face .... ;)
I totally appreciate the idea of theorizing a different concepts of what master core is, but I think Matt Pat really nailed it on the Master Hand / master core identity
I think the maze part represents the child thinking about if he should continue playing with the toys as the toys slowly convince him that he should.
I liked gametheory's version of this where master hand is Sakurai.
yah me too
Nah this ones better
I think this one is more believable, the one of Game Theory feels a little arbitrary, like thinking in the theory first and later trying to tie details to justify it. This one can be deduced directly from what happens in the game (the fact that we already know who is Master Hand, and that all of those monsters comes from inside Master Hand is a pretty big suggestion that is something from inside "the kid"'s mind).
I thought this was gonna be a video about master core being something Not about real life
+Leonardo Herrera it is?
5:33 you should get into voice acting :)
actually the master core is actually millions of shadow bugs from brawls subspace emissary, which gives more reason to why Tabuu wanted Master Hand
Please stop saying "but hey" cuz i always think u will say "but hey, that's just a theory a game theory!" and gets my hopes up. XD
ThePheonix123 Whoooooops x) Sorry, well hey....it was an accident!
Conner the waffle you have a way with words yu've defientley given me a lot to think about thank you my friend
THAT'S RIGHT! I'm Going To Believe In GOD No Matter WHAT Society Tells Me.
My Master Core Is Antitheism And I Will Shatter It.
For some reason this made me reflect on my life i don't know why but it did good job
if you feel the sheer depression from being an outcast of "that child" you can unleash your anger on:
A: yourself and commit suicide,or
B:everything else around you which is split up in 2 catagories
B1:the servant. Joining an hatred group and trying to murder as much people
as you can before you die.
and B2:the Leader. by brainstorming for years how to form your (hate)organization against (a certain group) of people and try to pull off an Adolf Hitler which often result your own downfall because the destructive force you created turning against you,OR die because of the reprecautions of your actions.
How are you this smart :D
0:46 i saw this film
I think that master core is just representing the stress that "the child" has to deal with like doing his job, keeping his money straight, paying his bills, or maybe taking care of another child (unlikely) and he's just taking it out on his toys or as I call them "action figures" and trying to destroy them when he doesn't really know what's going on just acting out of stress.
This video is in the memory of all the *good* characters that were left out of smash 4
R.I.P. Ice Climber
R.I.P. Lucas
At least Lucas came back! Sadly, you need to buy him to play as him. He doesn't cost too much though if you are only buying him for one version of Smash Bros. I think under a dollar's worth. If you are not playing the US version of Smash Bros, then I dunno the costs.
This hits home so so much!!
