    Magnus Carlsen faces his World Championship challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi and ex-challenger Fabiano Caruana in the FTX Crypto Cup, the 6th event on the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour and the 3rd and final Major. The 3-day preliminary stage sees the 16 players play each other once before the bottom 8 are eliminated while the top 8 advance to a knockout. The prize fund is $320,000, including a $100,000 Bitcoin bonus. The winner also qualifies to September's Tour Final.
    The time control is 15 minutes for all moves, with a 10-second increment per move from move 1. The knockout match-ups are held over two days, with a 4-game match each day. If the match score is 1:1, the tie is decided in a blitz playoff. Two 5+3 blitz games are played followed, if needed, by an Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. Official website: championschesstour.com

    I love that Magnus plays for the win. I hate when people play for a draw. He’s the best because he always tries for the best result possible. It’s never going to be okay with me to try for a draw UNLESS a draw is your best outcome possible. ALWAYS try for the best outcome possible. It’s not about winning but it’s how you win that matters

    at 5:57, why can't magnus play queen to b4 pinning the rook? Pawn could go a3 but then take the pawn on b2?

    11:58 after magnus plays rook to b8 doesn't whites rook to g6 win the last remaining black pawn? Can someone confirm

    • @andreidinu7316
      @andreidinu7316 Před 3 lety

      Yes, but black rook to b7 and you give up both your rook and your knight for the pawn, which means Magnus could get a draw out of this.

    • @mr.arachno8519
      @mr.arachno8519 Před 3 lety

      Problem is black can play Ne4 and after white picks up the pawn on g7 black wins back the pawn on g2 by playing Rb2. If white tries to chase away the knight with f3. Black still plays Rb2+ and gets counterplay. Still winning for white but a bit more annoying because your Rook on g6 can't drop back to defend against checks

    I think there was a better move than rook f4 (threatening the queen)
    I think it is time. I will master the endgame, become the human 9-tablespace, then challenge Rajabov to a fight to the mate.
    Magnus will have retired to Texas Holdem by then, I will become the best chess player that ever was and when I walk down the street people will say "that's turtle752436, the best that ever was in this game" after Garry ofc, coz I will never fight the fight Garry fought against the infernal machine.

      @@sportsjefe hahahaha yes buying the dip is a strategy you can use in stocks and other assets you can somewhat guess where they will be heading. Cyrpto is different from any asset because there is no use or value. The price is solely based on weather or not people want to buy it. Its a scam. Plus they are using fake tokens pretending to be back by dollars to pump these crypto up and they all buy into the pump. BERNIE madoff couldn't have thought of a better scam.
