Mr. David you are so right on because it pisses me off too, the presumption of some people ... I'm pretty intuitive and when I first saw Elvis Presley on the screen and heard that voice , saw that smile and felt his demeanor coming through is silver screen, I immediately new in my heart of hearts that was somebody very special that God has blessed with much more than his looks and his talents but a man with a heart of gold there was connected to the divine and somehow would be so conscious of it that he would channel that connection through his talent in Elvis would know it, appreciated and further it right Along ... and we the recipient of that love tone in his songs would appreciate it and send our love and appreciation right back to him and I feel that Elvis had this god-given Talent the gave Kindred Spirits this connection we feel and acknowledge they we all came from the Divine source ... it just feels right to hear that very distinguishable a god-given voice! Elvis, I believe had a sense of responsibility from his spiritual consciousness, that Within if you will, a sense of Duty to his fellow man to use his talent in a way that will uplift an open heart!
Tbh I used to think that also because of his Vegas image which doesn't represent him well.

He funded an entire trauma wing at Midsouth memorial so 4 states had a Trauma one care, donated 300+ Cadillac alone, 300+ brick homes, thousands of funerals, chemo treatments, millions of individual gifts of Jewelry, clothes, instruments, animals, make a wish were at every concert, hospital visits, spent every night outside his home in Memphis, Beverly Hills & LA signing autographs, in 1950's he even let fans that came from out of town CAMP ON HIS LAWN IN TENTS, He bought his childhood home in Tupelo and built a childs recreation center for poor kids, He signed autographs and gave fans tours at all the movie studios, concerts for Cancer fundraising, hurricane & tornado relief every year from 1956-77, donated to the same 55 MAJOR charities since the year he signed his 1956 contract even now every year 45yrs after his death. He gave away 86% of his ENTIRE lifetime GROSS earnings! Never wrote one donation off on his taxes despite being in the 95% income bracket. Giving was his tithing for Jesus. He said the more he gave, the more God blessed him.

He was 27 years and he was so matured, sincere and honest in this interview.Kathy Westmoreland said in one interview, that this world would be nicer if here were more Elvises Presleyes. She said that when he woke up, he allways asked himself, what he could do to make someone happy , to help somebody who needed it, to make fun even when he was ill, to make day better for people. Nice personality, beautiful human being. I love him.

I love him too. I sing his wonderful songs as a streetmusician in my neighborhood in Berlin, Germany. Since two months i sing all over the city and the main reason why i am doing this is not about money. I feel an obligation to take care of that this wonderful human being and his loveable songs will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I love you KING - I can truly say that - an NO: I am not gay. It is just a feeling deep inside and his music has been of great comfort for me from the age of ten on - since 1982.

It seems like there was always a subtle innocence to Elvis, such a sweet and beautiful human being.
A very sensible , man who had a good head on his shoulders sooo wise beyond his 27yrs. Sooo mature wasn't a childish immature idiot !!!! Sure had his head screwed on !!!! And wudnt listen to anyone or do anything he didn't want to do !!! He was not one of the easily led time. One of the easiest guys to interview with that beautiful southern accent. Sooo well mannered and so polite and such a respectful you man to all who he spoke to all his life on this earth such a people person. All I have ever read about him from the people who met him over the years was what a lovely caring gentle natured , kind , loving man he was, and you cud see that in the way he spoke and the way he walked , sooo effortless, and all his beautiful mannerisms !!!!! Elvis was so smart with his answers and very polite with the reporter. I could tell that it hurt Elvis when the reporter brought up his Mother. He still misses Gladys so much. I lost my Mother in 1995 and you never stop missing your Mother because they are also our best friends. Gladys raised a fine Son and I wish that she could have been around longer to see how well Elvis has done. This has been said millions of times but "There Will Never Be Another Elvis "
That is true. The chance of 1 plus 1 becoming 3 is bigger then the chance that there will ever be another human being like him.
That's the most insightful interview I've ever heard of Elvis. He's conversational here and it's rare to hear his natural way of thinking. 1962 so he would be 27yo. He sounds quite mature for his age, certainly very philosophical and a deep thinker. Intelligent also - something he was not given credit for. I wonder why he shut down publicly when he had so much to say. Extraordinary that he talked about menopausal women and for the people that say he only liked young girls, here we hear him talk about growing old with someone. His focus on loneliness is also evident - something that would plague him no matter who he was with.
This was the beginning of all the horrible movies he got stuck doing. Thank Goodness he came back in 1968. He HATED those movies and the stupid songs they had him do

Yeah he never does get credit for being smart. Maybe partly cuz he was so obviously manipulated. It's baffling to me that such an explosive figure got toned down so much so quickly where he was reduced to a preforming monkey without a mind. They destroyed his image. How many men in their 20’s or any other age for that matter have her father, mother, and grandmother live in the mansion after becoming famous and have a lot of money? NONE!!!! He loved his family! They are the ones that you know loves you before the fame. The rest you really don’t know for certain. Most men would be embarrassed to have their grandma live with you and it’s a testament to his love and respect. He gave his cousin a job because he was small. He stayed with him until he died and then even afterwards.

The only thing I can do is watch everything available online about Elvis. He was such a genuine person, patient and respectful with all the questions asked by the interviewers. He is painfully honest about a broad range of topics and patiently reiterates answers to same questions

Even though Elvis lived in a mansion and wore expensive clothes and jewelry, he's the one celebrity who I have never heard even the slightest bad thing about from a fan or coworker who met him, as far as the big headed thing goes. Fans, army buddies, cast members, band members, backup singers, directors, producers, journalists etc. have all said they had never met someone so big who was so kind, humble and considerate of other people's feelings.

First time I watched an interview of him I was actually in shock of how humble he was for somebody as successful as he was. There are celebs out there who are not even on his level, achieved barely anything and are already arrogant and big headed, so Elvis was a pretty rare thing

you have to remember this is his public persona, a well crafted and managed individual avoiding saying anything offensive.
Sure some famous people can't even do that properly and get all shitty with the media.
Elvis simply avoided them as this was the best option and kept the magic alive, but behind closed doors as with anyone, that's a whole different story.
He certainly didn't mix with many of his peers, and surrounded himself with non famous people, many were old friends, this way he'd always be the big fish in a small pond.
Its amazing to listen to elvis so well grounded honest respectful was never above himself never thought himself bigger or better than anyone, respected everyone. gave credit to others had a very wise head his main concern was to always look out for others and he sure did that right up to the end.

He checked out when he was only 42 years of age. Wow. As old as I am at this point in my life, 42 almost seems like 28, or something like that. Simply put --- he died a young man. A very young man.
He went in a downward spiral when Priscilla left him. He could not understand why she left but honestly no one could live that lifestyle. Essentially after she had Lisa Marie she was stuck at home while he was touring. Not a good combination. His grandson killed himself in 2020 his mother had mental issues and obviously he did as well. He just needed help but he did not let anyone help him. The man was taking hundreds of pills a day. It's a miracle he did not die earlier of an overdose

@@naturestone3148Elvis Presley never wanted to marry Priscilla but he was forced by papa Beaulieu en Parker. Elvis missed Lisa Marie but not Priscilla. It hurt his ego that she left him but he didn't want her back. Priscilla only went after Elvis Presley for fame and fortune. She didn't love Elvis but his luxurious lifestyle. In 1967 they bought the Hillcrest villa in California where Priscilla en Lisa Marie stayed when Elvis was filming. However weeks after the birth of Lisa Marie Priscilla started an extramarital affair with her danceteacher, whom she replaced for her personal trainer in 1970. Elvis, in his turn, started two extramarital affairs from 1969 onwards. In 1970 they bought two more houses in California : the Monovale house and a Spanish-style house. Elvis probably wouldn't have bought the two houses had he known that Priscilla cheated on him. At the divorce Priscilla claimed half of the value of the three houses: $500.000,-. Priscilla is a golddigger who extorted Elvis financially up till his death and thereafter robbed her daughter for millions and extorted her granddaughters. She was, after Parker, the most damaging person in Elvis' life.

Elvis was always articulate but the media always made him out to be a dumb southerner.
So glad that through these rare interviews one get's to hear what a wonderful, humble, genuine and extremely intelligent person he is! I'm pretty sure he's also saying here that he can't be brainwashed/influenced by anyone or anything, and the way he talks about his views on things and people, he's so ahead of his time! Other things I've also picked up from this interview are that he's already showing disillusionment with his movie career, but he's still got hope here which is sad considering what we now know. Also evident is the enormous devastation to him over the loss of his mother, in spite of him having to and trying to remain positive, bless him. He clearly is seeking (and found) comfort to a degree, but imo the loss of one's beloved mother is unrecoverable from 😔 . #LoveElvisTheHumanBeing

This is one for the public and his fans one that I will not forget. The day and month of this interview is ironic to me. Sadly August 16th 1977 is another day I will not forget.

Elvis is his own person judge a person just by meeting them if they are honest. He was good at that very humble person very wise for his age an d he had respect for people no matter what job they did his mum and dad brought him up very well he rose to fame very quickly it was a lot to handle at his age he was a very intelligent man always wanting to learn about lots of things in life and searching for something but he definitely found his calling with his singing he loved to sing it’s such a shame that the world lost him so young

As a Memphis native I loved Elvis before national TV! We were spoiled in Memphis. Even though Elvis was 17 yrs older I still got a chance to meet him many times as one of the good looking girls at the gate at midnight. It seems surreal now that I’m 70 but yep I took full advantage of who I was and where I was back in the day.

Loved this interview. It was very long in contrast to future interviews. (Probably because of the "Colonel".) Most of the time I cannot hear the questions Elvis is asked, but he comes out pretty clear. Very smart, humble man...I will always love him.

I have come to learn especially from Larry Geller who brought him books on philosophy and spiritual books and he was interested in the martial arts football medical science he read the Bible and various religious teachings the man with aspiring to be the best she could understand where he stood in this life and relation to his place in God's eyes. He was appreciative and made it a point to be very conscious of his fellow human being and appreciated his lessons you could see and hear it in his voice even without me seeing this interview in 1962
Imagine an entertainer today being this honest, kind and humble. Elvis was truly one of a kind!

Elvis is so talented and along with talent he has respect for people. So kind and generous he will give probably half of the money he made in his lifetime away. You can hear the compassion in his voice and if that isn't enough his looks will make you cry. What ties the package he doesn't know how gorgeous and talented he is. There could never be another Elvis. God threw away the mold when he made him. I love you Elvis..
Me too. I will hopefully die singing an Elvissong in my mind. His music is such a great comfort and POWER for my life to never give up on anything i do.
People said he was even better looking in person than any picture showed. Wow, I wish I had been able to see him in person. What a wonderful man he was.

This young talent was that of a rare, rare sub-tropical orchid requiring special care & nurturing to survive and thrive. Elvis became smothered by hangers-on and sycophantic men & women only there for the glory of being in his orbit, welching off the superstar for whatever they could scarf up along the way. The girl that snagged him into marriage was manipulative. The fraud carny shyster manager was a psychopathic user, and most of the Memphis Mafia and his vile step family were yes-men & star- struck users who betrayed him in the end. Every single one of them have spent the remainder of their lives revealing the most private & personal aspects of this very private man's life. I get so riled up I don't know if I should throw things or cry at the massive misfortune of it all!!

I believe that too. Especially the last two years of his life...I think he gave up. I also believe that he was his own worst critic and had a lack of confidence to the fact that he was not able to pull himself up just by his own strength. He was weak at the end and i think he was seeing his own death coming...after being betrayed by people he took care of for many years. So called "friends"!!! The book they published about him in i think 1976...?
Extraordinary man! Talented, wise, kind, respectful, caring, blessed, loving...and so much more! He loved his mother, father and family! He spoke it in this interview! God blessed him! What a Voice! "You only pass through this life once Jack!" So true, so very true! Thank God he didn't become a Dr. or football player. We may have never known him as the talented singer he was, is, forever! If he had become a Doctor or anything other than the Icon that he was, he might of had a happier and longer life instead of a lonely and far too short one. The world would have missed the beauty and magic of an extraordinary man, but if that meant that Elvis was still alive and happy somewhere in it, that's a sacrifice we should all be willing to make. Of course the road not taken will always be just that and we can never know what would have happened 'if only' 😔

Elvis was the first world superstar to have to navigate on his own with no refrance, the fame, fortune and constant mad attention from the public, fans and media on a mega level. But he did it with such, grace, love and sincerity. He was a young man who could have a huge ego and cearless attitude to everyone, but he was very wise and intelligent with a deep unstanding of his role in life and who put him on top. He had such a respectful, careing, polite and down to earth attitude, with time and love for EVERYONE, AND he was greatfull to all and HAPPY being Elvis. So many celebrity's could learn this is how you should conduct yourself in public, he paved the way...Such a great shame it all became too much and too lonley for him in the end. Never be another like him.

Thanks for the information. The man was incredible and clearly too good for this world. I am going to order the book. I think Elvis has been treated very unfairly by a lot of people around him. Knowing these numbers I am even more determined to defend Elvis Presley and Lisa Marie Presley.
Elvis was certainly no raconteur. He was basically a shy country boy and deep down remained the same. He stutters a lot and is obviously nervous about saying anything controversial. Overall he comes across as sincere.

In this interview Elvis said he didn't have the money to go to college to be a doctor or he would of. I'm glad he didn't have the money.
College would have ruined him, I think. Some people who tried higher education only do one or two years and give it up due to lack of interest as well as money. Sometimes you're better off out in the world working. If you can read you can learn by yourself anyway.
College isn’t for everyone, he wanted to play football. But God had another plan for him - to bring happiness to the world, and then He came and got him.
