There were no renovations on the upper deck to Fed ex field now known as commanders field. Synder removed seats. The stadium was not buit too big when opened it was around 80k and was expanded to 92k. However Synder lost the fan base which is why attendance dropped. Landover is far from being in the middle of nowhere. You say anything. Landover is not even a ten minute drive to the DC line. Has a metro next to the stadium and food and retail near. Then add even with low attendance and the issues. The commanders are one of the few teams that flat out own their stadium and land. So they're still very profitable
Fan interest for the Pelicans is the highest it's been in years. The Arena isn't the problem, the infrastructure overall around New Orleans is the problem. It is a hassle sometimes to get to the arena because of traffic congestion and endless road construction. Buy hey, you have been on this Pelicans relocation kick for a year now without any real data to back up.

Then they want to build a stadium with housing & entertainment which they can't make their minds up on!! The island of Oahu has more than a million people on it which provides a ready-made near fan base. And I personally think that this program could actually be a Power 5 (or whatever it will eventually be) program. Hawaii football deserves better than this. It is actually a proud program with a decent history and tradition. And this is coming from a Tennessee fan!!
Hawaii’s AD should be fired. They wasted $30mil on that ridiculous stadium and they are continuing to wait for the state to build a stadium. They could have spent $60-100mil and built a 25,000 seat on campus stadium right there by tearing down that crap Ching. Miami built an excellent “temporary” 20,000 seat soccer stadium. That’s exactly what UH could have/should have done. What a damn shame.
Hawaii's current AD has been on the job for less than a year. Everything you see was planned for and executed by the previous AD David Matlin. Not sure if you've been to UH lower campus but there's very limited space and building up to 25,000 would be difficult. When they first built that area, an on campus stadium was never in the plans so space was not left for it when they built the baseball, Stan Sheriff Center, softball, beach vball, and swimming complex so close together

It was only after it was complete that the NCAA repealed the requirement. Also where would they get the additional money to build out the rest while NASED was still the plan? The legislature already is blasting UH for using 30 mil for the current temp stadium. It was only after the Maui tragedy that this NASED canceling bill has come about

Honorable mention nycfc in mls plays in Yankee stadium as well as city field, and their rivals stadium in New Jersey since 2015 but they are finally getting a stadium in a few years
Hawaii should look at Empire Field in Vancouver, the stadium used by the CFL and MLS teams while BC Place was renovated. It was all temporary bleachers bolted together and covered in tarps to make it look presentable from a distance, but it held 27,000 and only cost $14 million to build. After two seasons, the contractor disassembled and took back the leased grandstands, and they left the turf field, bathrooms, and light towers for the community to use. Not as good as a permanent stadium, but certainly better than the current field. Of course the university might not want to do any temporary fixes; the longer they put up with this current stadium, the more pressure it puts on the local government to fund a permanent one.

Ted wants more boxes and more parking that he would control. Georgetowns alum is basically a wine and cheese crowd. But once they start winning more local folks come and the place will get live. Plus Georgetown being in DC they cannot buid an arena on campus. Then add they get a sweetheart deal with Cap One with Ted who owns the Wizards a Georgetown alum.

Yes the stadium is small but you said yourself that there’s little demand for college football in Hawaii, so why should they invest in a new stadium that they’ll never fill, purely as a vanity project? Venture outside the resorts and you’ll quickly realize the state of Hawaii has a lot of problems and not much money.
The NFL Pro Bowl was really the only thing that ever made Hawai'i having football, let alone a big stadium, make any sense. But since that's now moved to Orlando and is a shell of what it used to be (hardly an event worth travelling to like it once was). Maybe a 20-25K seat stadium is all they need. No need to go any bigger than that.

Smoothie King Center really isn’t a bad arena. I’ve been to plenty of games there, and it’s perfectly fine. It can’t be much worse than Dallas, OKC and others.
I have said this many times before over the last 25 years, FedEx Field should have NEVER been made. I don't think there has ever been a stadium that was built for as bad of reasons as FedEx Field and it was pretty bad even back when it was new and it just has gotten worse. Talk to ANY old school Redskins fan and they will tell you how much they hated FedEx field from the very start. RFK was a great stadium, it had great city access, the end pillar of the Mall in Washington and just served a great purpose and was in use after the Redskins moved for over 20 years after and I am 99% certain the Redskins could have squeezed another 15 years after that and instead would have gotten a much better stadium in Washington in the early 2010s and we would not have this discussion about crappy FedEx field.

Capital One Arena is NOT one of the worst arenas in the NBA/NHL. It is actually one of the best. That being said, it has never been a good arena for college sports.

The Winnipeg arena was built for the AHL team Manitoba Moose and then the jets moved in 2011 when the thrashers moved because the arena was already built
Ummm no it was built to bring the Jets back to Wpg. It was openly stated as such when the city council first announced it would be replacing the old Eaton's Place building which was sitting there empty. The idea behind building the Life Center was to prove to the NHL that a small market can still house a NHL team and it was sized as such. Building a bigger fancier arena wouldn't do squat to bolster fan attendance it would only mean a bigger more expensive building with more empty seats and probably more expensive ticket prices. Personally, I'm not surprised that right now the Life Center is only selling to around 85% capacity during regular season games. You only have to see the financial turmoil caused by the COVID lockdowns and the ever increasing squeeze in cost of living to the lower and middle class fueled by Trudeau's carbon tax hikes to understand ticket sales for most sporting venues are down across most of Canada, especially small market locations. In any case, the Jets are more then likely gonna make the playoffs which means sold out games plus overflow into Winnipeg square are gonna become a thing again. Also, you only have to see the latest polls to know that the federal liberals are on their way out and the new conservative party will probably become the new majority govt. Once that happens the carbon tax will get tossed out the window, or so the conservatives claim, and that should also go a long way to reducing the financial pinch of the middle and lower class in Wpg as well as other small market Canadian areas with sports franchises. I think in the long run the Jets will be just fine. They're doing a lot better financially then a lot of other franchises right now. Considering Wpg and the province of Manitoba is considered a hub for hockey fanaticism the Jets won't be going anywhere anytime soon nor the foreseeable future. It was always intended and built with the intention of getting an NHL team.....they said that from the day it was first announced so that's a major cop out. It cost twice what most AHL rinks at the time did like $150million which is $250million today when almost every AHL rink is still sub $100million
You should point out that arenas and attendance is a much bigger deal in the NHL since NHL doesn’t have a strong media deal. They depend more on their arenas for revenue.

The Pelicans will never relocate. The owner already said that when the renovations are done with the Superdome the will make a study and see what if ever renovations would be needed. They already said this and reported it.

You STAY on the wrong side of the argument when it comes to Georgetown basketball and the rest of the Big East. The whole Big East conference as built on playing in large pro style arenas. That was their appeal and it still works for them, just like Cameron Indoor Stadium works for Duke.

Marquette University - Fiserv Forum. Also home of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Creightion University- CHI Health Center. Professional Level Arena (No NBA Team in Nebraska obviously).
Providence - Amica Mutual Pavillion. Professional level stadium. No NBA team obviously.
St. John's - MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Need I say more about that one?
Seton Hall - Prudential Center. Used to play at IZOD Arena which was home of the Nets before they moved to Brooklyn.
Villanova- Wells Fargo Arena. Used to play at the Spectrum and moved along with the 76ers.
The only 2 exceptions that play ON CAMPUS are Butler and Xavier. Hinkle Fieldhouse is historic by itself and by it being in Indiana it is going to be built big. I'm from Indiana so I know. Xavier is rather new to the Big East as are several others.
The POINT is the Big East was BUILT on playing in the large NBA/Professional size arenas. Don't take my word for it. Look them up.

The point I’m making is that when the Big East conference was put together the made their mark by playing in large arenas and not in small gyms on campus. Calgary estimated the 'CalgaryNEVER' proposal (Arena, Covered Football Stadium, Fieldhouse) back in 2015 to cost around $900 Million but costs were expected to double due to the contaminated soil where the project was slated to be built. The proposed 'Rogers Garden' (if a shovel ever goes into the ground) is expected to cost around the same as the original complex for just an arena that will be SMALLER than Edmonton's Rogers Place. And it will be built on a floodplain again.

And the Hawaii legislature has apparently shot down the latest proposal for the stadium district I personally think this is a DAMN SHAME!!! I think that the Hawaii football program could be a good to reliably really good football program. Football is the most popular sport in the Hawaiian Islands. The state for its size produces a fair amount of D-1 football talent including some of the most recent better D-1 quarterbacks. The island of Oahu has more than a million people on it which provides a ready-made near fan base. And I personally think that this program could actually be a Power 5 (or whatever it will eventually be) program. Hawaii football deserves better than this. It is actually a proud program with a decent history and tradition. And this is coming from a Tennessee fan!!

Hawaii should look at Empire Field in Vancouver, the stadium used by the CFL and MLS teams while BC Place was renovated. It was all temporary bleachers bolted together and covered in tarps to make it look presentable from a distance, but it held 27,000 and only cost $14 million to build. After two seasons, the contractor disassembled and took back the leased grandstands, and they left the turf field, bathrooms, and light towers for the community to use. Not as good as a permanent stadium, but certainly better than the current field.
Of course the university might not want to do any temporary fixes; the longer they put up with this current stadium, the more pressure it puts on the local government to fund a permanent one.

Ted wants more boxes and more parking that he would control. Georgetowns alum is basically a wine and cheese crowd. But once they start winning more local folks come and the place will get live. Plus Georgetown being in DC they cannot buid an arena on campus. Then add they get a sweetheart deal with Cap One with Ted who owns the Wizards a Georgetown alum.

I don’t follow your logic in picking Hawaii. Yes the stadium is small but you said yourself that there’s little demand for college football in Hawaii, so why should they invest in a new stadium that they’ll never fill, purely as a vanity project? Venture outside the resorts and you’ll quickly realize the state of Hawaii has a lot of problems and not much money.
The NFL Pro Bowl was really the only thing that ever made Hawai'i having football, let alone a big stadium, make any sense. But since that's now moved to Orlando and is a shell of what it used to be (hardly an event worth travelling to like it once was). Maybe a 20-25K seat stadium is all they need. No need to go any bigger than that.
If anything, the bears have the worst situation in the NFL. They've been talking about a new stadium for years and now the White Sox want a new stadium. The city of Chicago most likely only getting one new stadium.

No, the Bears do not have the worst situation. It may less than ideal, but Washington's stadium is a dump. Just reference all the videos where you see flooding, rats, fans falling because the railing collapsed, etc. Players used to complain about the condition of the grass at Soldier Field, but the Park District replaced the turf before the last season and that has improved. Still Soldier Field > Commander (FedEx) Field.
Maybe a major renovation of Captial One Financial Corporation Arena in Washington DC is needed. Leave it alone.

Smoothie King Center really isn’t a bad arena. I’ve been to plenty of games there, and it’s perfectly fine. It can’t be much worse than Dallas, OKC and others.

I have said this many times before over the last 25 years, FedEx Field should have NEVER been made. I don't think there has ever been a stadium that was built for as bad of reasons as FedEx Field and it was pretty bad even back when it was new and it just has gotten worse. Talk to ANY old school Redskins fan and they will tell you how much they hated FedEx field from the very start. RFK was a great stadium, it had great city access, the end pillar of the Mall in Washington and just served a great purpose and was in use after the Redskins moved for over 20 years after and I am 99% certain the Redskins could have squeezed another 15 years after that and instead would have gotten a much better stadium in Washington in the early 2010s and we would not have this discussion about crappy FedEx field.

RFK seated about 56,000 at most. The builders didn't think ahead and should have realized it needed at least 12,000 more seats.

Capital One Arena is NOT one of the worst arenas in the NBA/NHL. It is actually one of the best. That being said, it has never been a good arena for college sports.

The Winnipeg arena was built for the AHL team Manitoba Moose and then the jets moved in 2011 when the thrashers moved because the arena was already built
Ummm no it was built to bring the Jets back to Wpg. It was openly stated as such when the city council first announced it would be replacing the old Eaton's Place building which was sitting there empty. The idea behind building the Life Center was to prove to the NHL that a small market can still house a NHL team and it was sized as such. Building a bigger fancier arena wouldn't do squat to bolster fan attendance it would only mean a bigger more expensive building with more empty seats and probably more expensive ticket prices.
Personally, I'm not surprised that right now the Life Center is only selling to around 85% capacity during regular season games. You only have to see the financial turmoil caused by the COVID lockdowns and the ever increasing squeeze in cost of living to the lower and middle class fueled by Trudeau's carbon tax hikes to understand ticket sales for most sporting venues are down across most of Canada, especially small market locations.
In any case, the Jets are more then likely gonna make the playoffs which means sold out games plus overflow into Winnipeg square are gonna become a thing again. Also, you only have to see the latest polls to know that the federal liberals are on their way out and the new conservative party will probably become the new majority govt. Once that happens the carbon tax will get tossed out the window, or so the conservatives claim, and that should also go a long way to reducing the financial pinch of the middle and lower class in Wpg as well as other small market Canadian areas with sports franchises.
I think in the long run the Jets will be just fine. They're doing a lot better financially then a lot of other franchises right now. Considering Wpg and the province of Manitoba is considered a hub for hockey fanaticism the Jets won't be going anywhere anytime soon nor the foreseeable future. I've been in the Life Center tons of times for hockey games and concerts, the arena is sized perfectly fine for the market its in and its a nice modern building with a great atmosphere.
