    it's absolutely INSANE how expensive lift tickets are in the US. I'm in Europe and the Alps are MUCH cheaper to ski. big time.

      Correct, I moved and live between winter park & summit county resorts, don't even ski or go to town much, traffic, everything prices food is ridiculous. Only place I'll ride is free Loveland Pass, hitch hike rides up or we shuttle cars.

      I ski free at the area I work, but I will soon leave the ski biz and then I will ski at small and still affordable non destination resorts. I don’t require the glitz, aggravation or steep prices of the big boy resorts that now charge for parking. I think their is some push back as business is down in Utah. Too bad? No that’s good. Fug ‘em.

      You say this as if it’s a newfound discovery. Pretty much anyone that skis is aware of the Euro vs US price difference.

      @ClemensSanta Před 4 měsíci +4

      its funny that you always forget the difference of income, you cant compare US with EU. For example north italy, if a pass costs 60-80 its extremly overpriced.

    A month before berthoud lodge was demolished I went into it. Could only access it from the second floor as the first was completely covered in snow. What a fascinating and creepy exploration. You could tell people were camping on the second floor in the offices, even building small camp fires in rooms for warmth (which seemed absurd). The first floor was jet black dark from windows being covered but it was in surprisingly good condition. Kitchen still had cookware on stoves. The ski rental area was littered with old receipts all over the floor.
    Rumor was the ski area was haunted and cursed, and I don’t know if that’s true, but the way that lodge creaked and moaned while walking around in it was reasonably unsettling. I’m so glad I did it though. Saw a true piece of Colorado history before it was gone forever.

    Basically, vail and Epic have an ogliopoly in colorado and they hike those prices up a fuck ton. Your only bet is to live in colorado and get the season pass. Gone are the days where you can visit multiple resorts unless you are willing to drop over $1000 for a all resort season pass

    Ski Rio, Stoner, Pikes Peak, Conquistador, Broad-more, Sugarite, Powder Puff are some others. Most I named are in Colorado some are in New Mexico. And believe it or not there are literally dozens more that closed. Many if not most were small town operated areas.

    Skiing is NO longer a working guy's winter sport. Alta was JUST $7.00. At Jackson Hole the all area ski lift tickets were JUST $10.00. Colorado skiers, would you like Berthard Ski Area open up again with all area ski lift tickets between $50.00 to $100.00 versus paying $300.00 for a all area ski lift ticket at Vail but having slow riding fixed grip chairlifts at Berthard Pass Ski Area? I think the price at Vail and other resorts like this increase their prices because of insurance running the resort and installing high speed lifts.

      I'm responding to myself. I hate this change over that CZcams did. Like the saying goes, "if it works don't fix it". All I wanted to do was to do a edit and add that my friend and I went on a ski trip to Alta and Jackson Hole from Michigan. I tried over and over just to insert that statement and couldn't do it.

    Ski lift ticket prices have eliminated blue collar America altogether. Geeeeeez, and why do resorts fail? Only rich snots left on the mountain, as well as the few resort workers who can ski (mostly) for free.
