Just sitting here at 38 years old, engineering some software, being an adult. I don't know why, but I thought about The Used for the first time in decades. Put on a box full of sharp objects, was like being back in high school again. Just pure nostalgia. Look over in the related, see The Taste Of Ink. "I remember this song I think?". Click it, that opening lick happens, and I just stop what I'm doing and listen, crying by the end of it. It's like one of my deepest memories that picked over 20 years to lay dormant and then all of the sudden knock me over. I remember everything now, every little detail of that time. It's absolutely insane how much gets tied to songs, and apparently forgotten until the song finds it's way back.
I miss these days so much. The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Saosin, Finch... and so many other great bands helped me get through an otherwise shitty adolescence. Just wish today's kids appreciated bands like these more, and got to experience shows like we did. I can't even remember the last time I saw a garage band practicing...

I used to record this video when it came on MTV past 12. This is my favorite song of my favorite band. It's the song of my life. Thank you Robert from Mexico. I'll repeat, literally is the song of my life, my friends know that in my funeral this song it's gonna hit the entire place.
03/06/2024, 20 years later since the first I ever heard this song, I could listen to it in a live performance, for the first time. And it still has a huge impact on me
I love this song still. I was like 15 when it came out. Man I miss high-school. I hated it when I was there. But I'd give anything to go back even just for one day. Enjoy your youth. It goes by fast af. Now I got 2 kids and back problems but I still love this song 🎵 ❤️
I loved this song growing up so much seen the video many times . How the hell did i miss the ke70 station wagon in the video! A car which later in life also became close to my heart. Makes me love it even more
After 18 years of listening to this band, I finally drove 3 hours and saw The Used live in concert in flagstaff, az with Sleeping With Sirens opening. Both bands put on a hell of a show. The used came on and I was overwhelmed with 18years of emotion from their music. I laughed, cried, and rocked the f out! Went back to the hotel with my date and smashed until the sun came up. Definitely in the top 5 best nights of my life!

I saw The Used sing this live circa 2001 in a San Diego basement club. TAKE ME BACK! Then full circle at the last Warped Tour a few years ago. Always a jam. 🖤
This song reminds me of one of the best times of my life. Nintendo GameCube, moving 500 miles away from everyone I knew and the feeling that life is so worth living.
1:02 Any other Stardew Valley fans think that Sebastian's 10 heart cutscene was heavily influenced by this single frame of lyrics? 😆 It's my head canon that Sebby is a Bert McCracken/The Used fan 😝😜
Middle school angst hit like a wave. Will never forget this was the first song I showed my friends that all but one made fun of me for. Was also the gateway for me to getting into the core genres.
This meant enough to me as a teen. Now in my mid 30s I am SO happy to come to this song after a very long time of stagnant nothingness. I have moments to savor bc here i legitimately am in my own hands now.
I have hailed this album to be single handedly responsible for saving my life at 15, all while wishing I was "on my own" already and "hated" high school...I'm now 34 and I'd give a fucking arm to go back to this time and re-experience this again.
Been rocking the used since day 1! They are a local band here from Utah. They came from the most morman town in the country. I'm just now noticing the BYU shirt early in the video🤣 Incredible that so much talent in this form could come from Utah County. I will never forget seeing them at vans warped tour when Bert was dating Kelly Osbourn. I'm pushing 40, and I'll rock the used and catch their shows! And savor every moment of it!!

I used to record this video when it came on MTV past 12. This is my favorite song of my favorite band. It's the song of my life. Thank you Robert from Mexico. I'll repeat, literally is the song of my life, my friends know that in my funeral this song it's gonna hit the entire place.
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎸🐺🎸🤘
Omg I needed to hear this song! I miss this feeling ❤❤❤❤
Forever missing The Used, have my love in a choke hold for them, from childhood to adulthood, thank you.
you do know the used is still a band right?
03/06/2024, 20 years later since the first I ever heard this song, I could listen to it in a live performance, for the first time. And it still has a huge impact on me
This song takes me back to the good old days of my late preteen and early teen years, one of those eras of my life that I'd always love to go back to.
I love this song still. I was like 15 when it came out. Man I miss high-school. I hated it when I was there. But I'd give anything to go back even just for one day. Enjoy your youth. It goes by fast af. Now I got 2 kids and back problems but I still love this song 🎵 ❤️
❤️
This song and walking the streets of my hometown late at night from the pool hall. Wish I would have lived every second a little longer.
you still can
I've heard this song soooo many times and this is the first time I'm seeing the video.
Life before social media screwed up the world.
I loved this song growing up so much seen the video many times . How the hell did i miss the ke70 station wagon in the video! A car which later in life also became close to my heart. Makes me love it even more
Haven't listened to this in years...and it's still amazing.
This is currently my 4yr old daughter's favorite song. I catch her on her tablet singing along haha. What have I created!?
A legend
A wonderful tiny little legend of a human

You have created an amazing child.
My 4 yr old daughter loves it too but her favorite has been 'all that Ive got' haha

One of the best and most defining post hardcore albums of all time.

Had to show the kids today
After 18 years of listening to this band, I finally drove 3 hours and saw The Used live in concert in flagstaff, az with Sleeping With Sirens opening. Both bands put on a hell of a show. The used came on and I was overwhelmed with 18years of emotion from their music. I laughed, cried, and rocked the f out! Went back to the hotel with my date and smashed until the sun came up. Definitely in the top 5 best nights of my life!
Missin these good nostalgic days when i was a teenager. Listening to this song while relaxing after school. And now, i am a high school teacher and this song keeps telling me that as long as i am alive, my teenager days still with me too.
One of my all time favorites.. i will forever jam this song
Same here! Takes me right back, miss those days so much. Saw them in NYC with boxcar racer. One of the best shows ever
Lost my cousin tragically the other day and needed some comfort music for my screaming soul im back listening to still one of the best albums in 2022
i'm 32. My cousin was killed august 13th 2022, his death also a tragedy at 28 . have this song saved in a playlist . just by chance i happened to spot your comment and thought of my own situation.. this song is a great vent. take care..
@@evanmedford3045 Wow, im glad you reached out to let me know. I send my condolences for your loss. Sometimes to know your not alone because it definitely feels like an isolating feeling and situation seeing how music makes us feel heard and express things from the soul is what music is all about and sometimes bringing people together.
Same thing, my best friend passed last year and we would jam out to this in his car back in HS. Leaves great memories listening to it all over again. Thank you for your post
i always come back to this in times or reflection
thanks me harty!
Don't wanna be too soft but it's kinda cool how over a decade later, so long as I'm alive & care the used STILL takes me there.. goosebump nostalgia land 🖤
I used to listen to this song every morning before heading out to school.
damn this album was my high school life, i remember so many great nights listening to this album.
thank god i found this album on the floor in my brothers room. changed my life fr
They are from my home state. I used to listen to this song during my seminary class. My seminary teacher even loved them. Miss the days of 2001-2003. Music now days is such a sucker punch to the go-nads

I dont feel old i am old
I saw The Used sing this live circa 2001 in a San Diego basement club. TAKE ME BACK! Then full circle at the last Warped Tour a few years ago. Always a jam. 🖤
Best song/ video EVER MADE
This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “The Wave” by SLT 🤘🎸🐺🎸🤘
Still one of the best Albums!! 2022 and the used still has the best songs
Same here. No doubt about it!
This meant enough to me as a teen. Now in my mid 30s I am SO happy to come to this song after a very long time of stagnant nothingness. I have moments to savor bc here i legitimately am in my own hands now.
19 yo here. love seeing so many people get nostalgic about a band i love. cant say about my gen, but i love the used
I thinknwe need to admit that the pinnacle of humans and music was in the late 90s and early 2000s. We have have been on a fast decline ever since.
Exactly. This is when lord of the rings movies were coming out too, the pinnacle of cinema, and since then cinema has also been on a steady decline
I have hailed this album to be single handedly responsible for saving my life at 15, all while wishing I was "on my own" already and "hated" high school...I'm now 34 and I'd give a fucking arm to go back to this time and re-experience this again.
Can confirm, 33 years here and what I would give to live high school days again
Been rocking the used since day 1! They are a local band here from Utah. They came from the most morman town in the country. I'm just now noticing the BYU shirt early in the video🤣 Incredible that so much talent in this form could come from Utah County. I will never forget seeing them at vans warped tour when Bert was dating Kelly Osbourn. I'm pushing 40, and I'll rock the used and catch their shows! And savor every moment of it!!
