WWF War Zone is a professional wrestling video game developed by Acclaim Studios Salt Lake and released by Acclaim Entertainment in 1998 for the PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy. The game features wrestlers from the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Unlike Acclaim's previous WWF game, 1996's WWF in Your House, War Zone features characters represented by 3D models and a new grappling-based gameplay system. In addition to a single-player mode in which players challenge for various championships, WWF War Zone also includes various multiplayer modes and a create-a-wrestler mode that was extensive for its time. Its presentation, gameplay and create mode garnered the game positive critical reception. The game was also popular with players, becoming a best-selling and frequently rented title in the months after its release.

Playing this in the 90s during christmas break and nothing to worry about. Those were the days
Yup those were the days
I wish I could go back to those good old days
Yup! I got it Christmas 98 I think... stayed up til like 9 the next morning
Same man
I remember going online and finding the outfits to create wrestlers that were not in the game. What a time to be alive.
hours and days on this game. when wwe is life.
wwf not wwe
The Crowd Is Booing at Goldust
Dolley Lucci my first ever wwe game on the Nintendo 64 when I was 11 years old at the time so many memories.
back when WWF games KICKED SOME ASS!
Dolley Lucci you should be report, it’s WWF
I got this on the N64. God the memories. I love the pre-match theme, I love the promos, the crowd and chants, even the commentary doesn't show its age too much. You gotta love that it's Vince and Good Ol' JR doing the talking.
4:45. Spooky to see this years later.
Man in 1998 and 99 this was my shit! Like I was addicted to this game for real. Memories!
The commentary is still better than anything WWE produces these days.
true dat
Sing us to do the hair but like is crazy like Stone Cold Steve Austin is so good with us Donald I like I like McNair that you like please my man hi my man I’ll still be like yo what are you doing it’s crazy because like you don’t call her Stephanie McMahon like CC game Austin is on contract just gonna eat and if he come back oh no daddy being an ass he say he say the face you better please tell me that because like she almost got married to the undertaker that is so crazy because you know I’ll be on ticket girl like you to get me
No I was asking to come on the walk him in the world this one enemies is back in the day
I noticed that, the commentary is actually really well done!
Lol and the wrestlers repeating their trash talk over again is also better than today’s mic skill in WWE.
LOL, the way Goldust says, "Owwwwwwuhhhhh!!" at 35:40!!
You couldn't convince me that the graphics in this game wasn't out of this world. 😂😂😂
+defAngel no mercy? :)
+Melvin Martinez I think No Mercy came out a year or two later. And it was a huuuge improvement lol
defAnge Lmaoo
They were. For a Playstation game, the animations and models were the cleanest and smoothest I'd seen at that point in time.
😅🤣 right I was amazed when I first saw them as a kid
Austin's grunts are so hilarious. He sounds like he's belching. Too many beers. lol
31:04 "Open a can" Burp
cas447 lol
mankinds screams are the best in this game lmao sounds like a horse
Bret Heart had the funniest grunts out everyone in the game 👐🏼 I always thought he was gunna throw up 😂
@@stevem1467 those were truly the best! And hilarious af too! 😂😂😂
The noise that Rocky Maivia ( the Rock) made was pretty funny too. AHHHHH OH DAMN!! 😂😂😂😂 LOL
this game is worth getting for the ahmed johnson promos alone
Ah the famous tortilla hands
😂😂😂
💀💀💀💀💀💀
04:46
Austin: Aw Hell No, Not again
I still have this game lol
Play it
The stone cold stunner! the stone cold stunner! Oh hell yea lmao
Don't take this ass whooping personally son oh hell yea!! Classic
And that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so!!
@@caitlynbiller6837 and I like you girl and that's the bottom line because Cysper said so.
@@cysper4703 I thank you and can smell what you're cookin xD
Lmao! I used to LOVE this game. Great memories.
aw hell yeah lol
And I'm good ole JR! Lol
I remember how we used to have to use mortal combat like combos to do the moves on wwf attitude and war zone
Yeah 2 best wrestling games ever but war zone is my favorite but it's so hard
JJ watts right u had to press plenty shit like back forward back square jus to do a kick lol
JJ watts and the ecw games
And had to wait till the health bar was red lol
i can't believe this is better than WWE 2k20. I had to come watch this to drain that shit out of my eyes
8:31 "Rockyyyy Diiiiie" lmaooo
9:48 "That's the bottom line, BAY-BAY!"
Lol the theme tune fail owen is still walking then stone colds theme plays it's like he's following him
Better crowd/roster referencing than wwe 2k20 lol..
Definitely.
when I first played WWF War Zone the first character I played as was Stone Cold Steve Austin oh Hell Yeah!!
The holy grail of wrestling games !! The experience of going to toys r us and getting your own copy can’t top that feeling as a 11yo lol
😭😭😭 this just brought up so much I can’t stop smiling
this game was hard af to play
Yeah i agree I'd smash the game now though 😂
I couldn't do a finisher to save my life
Yeah I hated the controls.
😁😁
True dat. True dat. But it was still fun af regardless. 💯
This and wcw mayhem. Great wrestling games as a child.
Get out of my way!!!My favorite catchphrase on the game...
If DLC existed back then, Jeff Jarrett, X-Pac, The New Age Outlaws, Vader, D’Lo Brown and Mark Henry would’ve been DLC
and thus my journey into wwf/wwe began here, following night i watched raw is war for the first time. first match i saw was the brood (gangrel & edge) vs road dogg and billy gunn... my attitude life began here haha
This game and WWF Attitude were all I played on my PS for like two years. The memories.
51:57 Kane sold that double axe handle even though he was a mile away
15:05 Oh hell yaaaa
15:09 Best uppercut ever 😂
4:45 broken neck. Never calls to say sorry.
He dropped to his ass just like Stone Cold said he was going to do
I never knew how to do a finisher on this game
The games audio say die rocky die and Steve says oh hell yeah lol
you can tell that this is '96/'97 Austin because he's still using a lot of his moves from his "Stunning Steve Austin" and "Ringmaster" gimmicks
XTheVideoGamerGirlX Of course your a "gamer girl" Because us guys would have known it was an Early Austin with the simple fact that Owen Hart & Ahmed, and Bret Hart were still wrestling.
I don't think you understand what she means by early austin, as she was referring to austin prior to his summerslam injury, even though this game was released a year after the injury.
Every wrestling video game timeline is always set the year prior
@THE FIEND The game was released in 1998, but much of the development happened in 1997
@THE FIEND Also I said "Even though this was a year after the injury"
every damn day at middle school in class i used to pre write my match for when i got home, never went by the list but this game was weed before i even started smoking.
Rocky in that armbar... Ahhh dayum!
52:48 stone look like crazy russian hacker
james brooke ll where his ears at 💀
Used to do all nighters on this.
I wanted to like this game SOOOO BAD as a kid.. I was just too use to No Mercy fighting system.
I had the N64 version
You showed warzone no mercy 🤣
Well that's the problem you played no mercy before this LOL
I always felt like the perfect WWF attitude era game would have had the audio and entrances of these games (as in Acclaim’s) (crowd cheering, jeering, chants, random stuff, wrestlers taunting each other and grunting in pain, bones cracking, etc.) but had No Mercy’s fighting system, and also had Attitudes’ match customization abilities. Character model wise, kinda a blend of the two.
58:42 my favorite part was when Goldust was going to get revenge on you by going through your back door.
I played attitude before this game, but when I did get this game I still spent days on it. Attitude may have been an advanced version of this game, but dunno, still felt special and fun to play.
I played wwf no mercy
@@glennstewart-wrestlinggoat me too, we actually had every wrestling game for the n64 at one time. Was around the time the Gamecube was coming out.
Classic nut crunch sound effects lol love this game
1:10:03 that random "Hell yeah" though?.... that's one reason the reasons I loved warzone and attitude .. the audience in the games were unpredictable
that piledriver made me nervous
Wow... i never knew these were the real voices of the wrestlers even when they are screaming in pain.
I used to play this game all the time as a kid. It has aged badly.
I had this game back in the day, funniest thing I've seen in a while. Undertaker & Kane sound like Lurch from the Addams family. I did play this a lot though
Spent so much time on this game.
When wwf was my whole childhood damn I miss these days
The rocks oh damnnn lmao
Them grunts and sounds they made in this game were pretty hilarious pretty funny especially when you apply chokeholds and or submission holds the rock "oh damn, Goldust screaming like a girl owww LOL Mankind squealing like a pig Hushha😂😂😂😂 Stone cold steve Austin AHHHHH, HBK no no no no and The Undertaker and Kane especially LOL good times good memories playing this game
@@christophernicholson20 lol takes me back so much lol
@@_WESTSIDE_ Ahmed Johnson grudge match rants is even more hilarious that's the icing on the cake lol.
The funniest PS1 game
The crowd sound board is the best hahaha! Drunk and voice cracking fan "Kick his ass!"
Brings me back to my childhood
31:50 This is great.
Thanks for the upload! Vince and Jr commentary is still hilarious after all these years.
I still enjoy this game rather than the newer ones.
I remember playing this years ago when I was in the 2nd grade I thought it was fun good vid i supported you
Everyone talks shit on this game but I loved it as a kid it was the first wrestling game I ever had I wish I was as big of an hbk fan back then but I didn’t even watch wrestling at the time I played this game this game and just bring it got me into wrestling
This game is a classic!
I liked this game I never got far into this game but it was fun
Do they really need to grunt or make a noise after every move or hit they take? I get what they were going for I guess but it just ends up sounding extremely goofy and inadvertently hilarious. Also, the punch sound effects are amazing, especially when they're combined with grunts and stuff whenever Austin does the Lou Thesz press.
Wrestling games need more crowd banter
That woman "OPEN A CAN AND KICK HIS ASS!" Still makes me laugh.
I remember this at my cousin house it's fun back then
According to my brother, this is the first game I ever played (I would have been 2 when this came out), and I remember nothing of it.
Are you a gorl?
No lie, the menu screen used to scare me as a kid. Especially the Undertaker
TheHuskyK9 same
lolll
3rd grade man ... 3rd grade elementary school. memories ... damn...
+Tsar Nicholas II 7th grade for me LOL.. but I liked No mercy way better..
me too.
High school here. Going from 9th to 10th in between when this game was new in 1998.
This game is the first game i played when my father bought me ps1. I was 13 . Now I'm 35 and the consol is still working 😅
This game was the s*** back in the day. I don't know how many hours I sunk into this with my neighbor. Those were the good ol days😁
Kane sounds like he's burping when he's in pain.
I love when you fight Gold Dust and he sounds like a girl when he's in pain XD
Lol
Man I used to play the SHIT out of this back in the N64 Days... back when SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT was WRESTLING
Lmao I loved this game! Play station's were better but rewatching this I loved the throwback
Yo the nostalgia
The chants from the crowd make this funny and make up for the crappiness of this game
best wwf game ever no wwe game cna beat this game
The way HHH sounded getting a submission sounds more like the reason why I have kids now.
I forgot you fight the Rock pretty early in this. Also this is the game that introduced me to wrestling
My first video game ever! Loved it even tho I sucked ass at it
I had some great memories with the Acclaim games. I thought they were way better than the AKI ones because they had commentary and better graphics at the time. Put HOURS into WWF Attitude.
But then I eventually retried WCW Revenge and it was over. I was officially done with Acclaim and I never did look back.
so much nostalgia
This game was so difficult for me back then I could not figure out anything then Smackdown Know Your Roll 2 came out. 💯❤
50:04 😂😂
This was the beginning
Ahhh...ahhh....ow damn! 9:43
I had this on the N64! very fun game.
39:07 open a can 😂
I performed many armbars in this game
ah, the memories.
this game and stone cold steve austin is what got me to watch wwf and is when i first heard of wwf because back then i only knew wcw, but i think i did notice wwf back then cus i remember seeing undertaker shawn michaels and mankind, but i didn't know it was wwf... i wasn't aware of the monday night wars yet.
lame ass
What did i say
I used to own this game along with WWF attitude, and WWF SmackDown. I totally regret giving my PlayStation and my PlayStation game away. Well, at least I can get them on Amazon if I choose.
So many memories with my step brother.. KANE was my guy!
Awww dammmmn
ahhhhh
I remember playing this game. I love the stomp motion. I used to stomp the crap out people.
WWF Championship belt Stone Cold
I was the king of that game no matter what character I was
I used to quickly go outside and beat up opponent with the generic punch and kick. As soon as the count was on 1, id quickly hit 2 more punches, then get on apron side. I always won matches in less then 1 minute. Thus Challenge Mode was about 15-20 minutes each. Easy if your just trying to unlock the secret characters on PS3
