Nature is my happy place it makes all my stress melt away! 🌻🌷🌻🌷✨️🌞
Lauren you need at least 2 tomatillo plants in order to get fruit. They won't set fruit with just one, they need to cross pollinate.
You have to have 2 tomatillos plants. You can’t grow 1 plant if you want to get tomatillos to eat. Love your garden
Lifetime gardener speaking.😂 (1) when you water plants it is best to water early morning or early evening (2) its best not to get water on the plants leaves - it can cause scald on them, water at the base of the plant (3) when you prune the tomatoes prune so the branches don’t grow inward - like you would prune a rose bush. I love your garden. Mine is always my happy place. It’s looking gorgeous!❤
😂 Lauren said y’all don’t come here for garden advice .. I almost spit out my soda from laughing so hard😂😂 . I appreciate you trying, sweetheart.
Thank you!!!
Lauren you made me laugh when you said "don't come here for advice" 🤣 Your garden looks great!
Thank you!!
You had me cracking up at “I have no business in this business”😂
Same!!
Me too ❤ laughed out loud😂 x
Me neither girl. I have tried.
Lauren, if you take a sample of your soil to your cooperative extension, they will tell you what’s missing from your soil, that your bell peppers did not grow. They are the place to go to learn how to grow anything.
Great idea!
@@LaurenNicholsen I always feel so bad when someone says I just can’t grow strawberries, or whatever, It’s not them, it’s the soil, it either has too much of something or not enough. Either way, they’ll make you a green pepper goddess! Sending smiles 🌷
Lauren if u wanna keep ur raised beds...line them with the black plastic...cuz the dirt will eventually rot the wood....and it keeps the dirt moist more....❤ Robyn
May your garden grow with love and joy❤️
🌻🌷🌻✨️🌞✨️🌻🌷🌻🙏🏻👍🏻
Ahhh I love that ❤ x
The way you talk to your animals is so relatable lol I speak to all my babies the exact same way. I’m so amazed by how much you get done in a day!
Since you’re taking the beds down, put one in the chicken area so they don’t dirt bath in your garden next year.
Brilliant!!!!! Totally doing that!! Thank you Tina!!
Great idea😊
That is a great idea
Suggest watching Garden Answer. She is a terrific gardener.
Wow, "spend my time in areas of life I value more" resonated so much! Such a great way to look at securing support in cleaning or other home duties
I always felt like I needed to be the one to clean, I honestly do like it but I felt a type of pressure since I wanted the house a certain way. But this has been a really great relief for me :)
Hi Lauren ❤️ I'm in Eastern Kansas 🌾🌻🌾 It's very sunny 🌞 and windy today with a chance of storms later. The beds look great. Love the new table, chairs and umbrella, very pretty! I'm craving some peach tea right now, lol. Say hi to "the girls," Enzo and the other kitties. Have a beautiful afternoon 🌱🌱
Also Lauren, I have to also say, commented before your video was over on my first comment, but you had me dying laughing over the business part of the seeds. I love how you are so not afraid to show your shortcomings, like your nails falling off, or the failure planting seeds. I seriously could watch you all day. You are so inspiring, and so funny, it’s like a vacation at my lap top!😂🤣😂🤣
Been watching you since the very first video, from Savannah ga, and you remind me so much of how I was at your age. I’m now 68 and still get inspired by your videos. Thank you Lauren for sharing your everyday life with us and all the hard work that you do for your family, and work, and your u tube friends. You’re amazing!!! LOVE your cooking segments too!!! Always have. 💖😍👍
Little tip put a ripe banana peel and all at roots of your tomatoes they thrive with the potassium
3 sisters planting. Squash corn and beans all grow together with support
Love your CZcams channel. Not so much the content but you, you are such a down to earth loving person,,, you inspire me ,,, still so sorry for the loss of your mom
I hear ya on the gardening part. Never did I think I had a green thumb nor wanted one until the past few years. Most likely when I started enjoying cooking more is when I liked choosing my own ingredients and knowing where they came from. I actually have a garden area that needs a lot of work. We pulled weeds and it about killed us. We will plant some roma tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, and herbs this year. It's still too cold (30s at night) so will wait a few more weeks. Let's Go Gardeners!
Yes!, Gardening is a lot of work and time spent, however the joy and satisfaction that comes with knowing u r harvesting your own fresh crop so tasty. Great job lauren as always u make everything u touch so very special. 🪴🌱🌺🫑🌶
Thank you!
I'm Canadian I live in Alberta we plant our garden usually first or second week of May but we are still getting snow here not much it melts by lunch but I don't plant till the warmer weather comes. What I look forward to from my garden are my strawberries and the potatoes we plant we get a lot of potatoes I plant other stuff of course but the strawberries and potatoes are what I look forward too
Just got done checking on my garden before watching your video.😊
Love that!!
Oh my gosh Lauren, it just hit me……. 20 years ago I had chickens and the best tomato’s I ever had was I did my garden with chicken shit!!!! The biggest and best tasting and so plentiful. I could be wrong but I was amazed that your garden was so plentiful last year and now I’m wondering if the chickens may have helped. 💖🐓🐓 I’m like you I loved it when they would follow me around . I miss them so much. Thank you, loved the video!!!! 💖 So excited for all the ones to come. 👍🌻🦋✝️
Hiiii Lauren 🙋🙋 You Definitely have Passion about Gardening like Me and My Mom 🌸🌺💐🧚♀️ You'll be Pro Gardener 🤗🤗🦋🦋
Next time you have to do any kind of mulch or topsoil in bags cut an x in the bag instead of just straight down the middle. Cut a giant x everything comes out so much easier. I had a landscape guy show me that one time. Awesome trick.
Lauren, Your videos are inspiring. I live in Foster City, CA. I’ve been working on planting flowers, and cleaning outdoor cushions at my sisters house. It feels great to get some sun and make the yard look beautiful. Thank you for the motivation.
Everything turned out beautifully, especially your new outdoor sitting area, which you’ll certainly enjoy.
❤
Yes! Thank you!
The garden area is so inviting. Love the patio furniture and umbrella. So relaxing. Love chickens they are so cute. Had the fake ones in my kitchen for decor. So lovable. Thanks for sharing.
Hi I’m from Fresno Ca. Your one brave woman your not a afraid of a challenge. it gets so hot in the valley in the summer I think my plants would die . “You go girl “
Hi Lauren, I love tarragon in a white sauce. It works great on salmon. If you fill the bottom of the umbrella stand with sand or dirt it will make the umbrella more stable.🥰
I wish I had some! I will get some sand to fill it!
I enjoy watching you do everything. I live in MS,a good part in the country. We don’t have a garden because I. Grew up on a farm and my dad grew everything. Tooooooo much work. I love watching you though.
Thank you for being here!
I don’t plant much, only mint, which is perennial , and basil.
Only, I clean around my yard, where I have roses, and I love it.
Thank you, so much for sharing, for I am learning through your video.
Thanks again. 🙏🥰👍☘️❤️🌟🌷🌿💫✝️✨🪴
Don’t throw the seeds away cover them with cling film (ceran wrap?) and put them somewhere warm! Honestly seeds don’t need light just warmth and they will grow! Love from em xx🇬🇧
If you plan to stick with raised beds, get the book called the Square Foot Gardening method. You will be astounded how many more plants you can fit into your beds. I swear we got as much from four raised beds when we lived in Philly as we do in a half acre kitchen garden we have now.
Ill check that out! thank you!
Can't wait to see your veggies gardens take off! My beautiful spring lilacs, rhododendron, dogwood and Kwanza cherry tree are in bloom now. Such a beautiful time of year!! 💗
It really is!! I used to only like fall and Christmas and now I LOVE spring!
Hello I live in Ohio ,and I do not plant a garden !! but I love watching you!!
Hi Lauren
You are such a breath of fresh air. Thanks for sharing your beautiful videos. Until the next one God bless you and your family.🙏🏻🙏🏻❤
You look elegant even planting a garden!
Hi Lauren, I live in Syracuse NY & we start putting our plants in around the first weekend of May to avoid frost.
I moved from Squaw Valley California, to Central Montana [10] years ago...we are expecting snow tonight...so I cant really grow anything here! LOL So as someone who has watched you for years...I appreciate seeing what I consider my home. Makes me homesick if only for the weather only! LOL
So happy you are here!
Hi Lauren, I live in Golden Colorado:) Yes, planted my Garden (it snowed last weekend) however the Colorado Sun Warms it up right away......I've planted Kale, three types of lettuce, tomatoes.....and my favorite Golden Rush Yellow Squash! Can't wait........Love your channel, thanks so much! and the chickens!!!
Thank you for being here!
Lauren, I’ve been watching you for years now and I want to just say that I appreciate how much you have been posting! I am loving the videos and thank you for all your hard work. It’s amazing how great of a wife, mom and CZcamsr you are. Even managing a vineyard. It’s truly amazing. Even graduating Harvard like a year ago. Masha’Allah. I love watching your videos when I clean and get ready for my day. You’re truly inspiring and an amazing housewife! ❤️🤗❤️🤗
Thank you so much!!!
Gardening always a learning process,,
Hi Lauren! Happy planting! I love harvesting our jack-be- little pumpkins every year. 😍 They are a great alternative to big pumpkins! And it's fun to invite the neighbor kids to pick them. And tomatoes, of course! I'm in Denver, so we really can't begin until mid-May or so... always so hard to wait! I sow my squash seeds directly in early June and they love the warmth. We are currently in crabapple/lilac season... so pink and lovely everywhere! Excited to see how your garden shapes up.
I live in Florida so I can garden year round I have my spring summer garden and then my winter garden.. yay❤
I made a ratatouille garden also! And we picked our first squash and zucchini and it turns out my kids hate them 😂 luckily I love it and it freezes well as an already made ratatouille meal. Thinking I’ll make a bunch in ramekins. If the apocalypse happens I have sides for everyone 😂😂😂😅
Hey Lauren, make sure you don't get the green catapillars on ur tomatoes like you did last year. Last year was the first year we got them and they destroyed our tomato plants. They are hard to see, their green color completely blends in with the tomatoes plants
I will keep a look out! 👀
Tomatoes.I love home grown tomatoes.
This looks like Michael Chiarello's yard. Screams Sonoma, I love it!
I am not a fan of gardening but I am a lover of chuli poblano and because of you this year I bought a poblano chile plant and I am happy because I already have three growing and more flowers coming out
Add soil amendments every year to fortify. I use chicken manure
😂😂😂don’t come here for advice, that’s all I can say😂 I had do a replay! You just cracked me up! Maybe because I often feel that way. I just enjoy the journey of life ❤
We planted tomatoes already and we will be planting zucchini, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers. We are in New Jersey
I should have done cucumbers!
Hi I’m in the uk and I’ve just started my seeds of in my greenhouse as it’s still not great weather here, I’ve planted runner beans, tomatoes, sunflowers, eating peas and sweet peas can’t wait till I’m able to plant out. Just a suggestion your raised planters I would have lined then first before putting in the soil as this will help them to last longer, wood rots very quickly when constantly wet/damp. Your garden is looking great. X
Hi there! I live in Southeastern Michigan and the "rule of thumb" here is usually wait till Memorial weekend to plant a garden but have some luck weather wise earlier than that. I plant my herbs earlier because they are in big pots. I plant a big variety of veggies in our big garden and think my faves are my tomatoes and squashes. We also grow hot peppers too 😊
I want to grow more veggies but nothing really called to me, what do you love?
@@LaurenNicholsen I love all my varieties of tomatoes and using all my fresh herbs. Can't beat a recipe that calls for tomatoes and basil
When I was growing up we had a huge garden that we worked in. There were ten of us kids and then extended family. Momma did a lot of canning every year! My sweet momma is gone but I have wonderful memories. I’m the youngest. All of my brothers and sisters are gone but one sister. Make planting and harvesting a family affair if you can. Great memories. 😊
I would love to do canning, Ron's (my husband) grandma did a ton of canning and I have her canning books. some day!
Happy 1st of May❤ summer is on it's way slowly but surely, 14 degrees here in Devon! Gosh it looked hot in Napa!. Thank you for sharing your gardening video it looked great. Yes i had a disaster with my seedlings, 😮 totally giving up with them too😂. Maybe next time line your planters with holes in the plastic bags, it just helps to save the wood. I remember my Dad telling me this once i finished planting out! Great timing 😂. You looked so adorable sitting surveying your hard, back breaking work. Phew great job done hunny. 😊❤. Love as always Rosie O 🏴.
Hi from Italy 👋 You're so amazing Lauren💪❤️
Your garden 🪴is beautiful!! I’ve planted my herbs and am planting 12 tomato plants tomorrow. Mostly Champions because they are disease resistant and grow well in N Arizona. Also some romas because your sauce looked so good. Zucchini’s, winter squash and cucumbers next. I always put little wells around my tomatoes and water them that way. My daughter’s chickens always eat her stuff so it’s good yours can be somewhere else. Happy Gardening 👩🌾
Oh man, I can’t wait to get my garden going! My seedlings are over growing, but we got over a foot of snow yesterday. Maybe one more month
HAPPY TUESDAY IN APRIL Lauren, family, fur babies, and feathered friends. WOW! Your gardening. I just went on your link homeaglow is in our area and it shows a lot of customers in our area have used them. Looking forward to your end of year garden. Enjoy your week. STTB
Yay! Thank you!
My garden here in N Calif is just basil, chives, thyme, rosemary and oregano.
I love how confident you are that the chickens won’t be going in that part of your garden. The girls are all chuckling and laughing saying, oh you wait Mom! We’ll find a way over there. They are so cute and like you, I love just sitting and listening and watching them. Everything turned out so nice too. Have a wonderful growing season this year!
Also, thanks Lauren I ordered the flower beds from cost way!!! Very reasonable💖👍
Beautiful job on the garden Lauren and nice little patio/garden set! I have mint growing well right now.
Loving these frequent videos ❤
This is the first year I didn’t do seeds.. I couldn’t find them and it’s just been that kind of year for me already ahahah don’t feel bad starters are cheap enough that we can give ourselves a lil grace
I can send you mine! 😂
I think your nails look fine, I was a nail wearer for most of my life and recently stopped wearing them, as well as my hair extensions. Much happier and so much less up keep. But u do u ❤
Love that!!
@@LaurenNicholsen ❤️
A couple of random thoughts: keep an eye on the raised planters that are currently against the house wall -- the heat that radiates off the walls (with the direct sun on them) can "cook" or burn the plants, especially as the temps rise; and sprinkling MiracleGro for plants around the stems of each, then watering, will give all of them an extra boost of nutrients. Even better, next year, sprinkle the MiracleGro in the hole before placing the plants. Every little bit helps...... Oh, and only do the gardening work right before doing a manicure -- I learned the hard way, as, now, have you. Happy growing!
Thank you so much!!!
Hi, I love your channel, we live on South Georgia in Zone 8B and we planted our garden 2 weeks ok. We have a couple of acres and we plant a lot, looking forward to the fresh corn and squash and okra.
You should plant some basil with your tomatoes. They are great companion plants and do well together
I was thinking that too! I thought I would do succession planting when the tomatoes are larger. then plant some basil around them.
Lauren loved this video on all the garden ideas. I live in San Antonio, Texas where it gets hot during the summer, Like 100 degrees hot.
I love all the new things. ❤
I’m so excited, I am starting my garden this weekend !! I have 4 of those planter beds from Cosway and I love them !!!
Hi Lauren, I enjoy watching your videos, I'll keep watching to see the progression of the garden.. I noticed how well you prounce spanish words without an accent at all, especially when it's a Spanish word BTW, I love the blk sandals you were wearing on the video 😂Thank You for being such a sweet lady ! ❤
Your garden looks great. I think you will be very happy with this year compared to last year. Even though last year was pretty darn good for your first year. I would love to get back into gardening but we moved recently and untill we fence in our yard the rabbits dear and all sorts of wildlife eat what ever I've tried planting 😅 love the wildlife but they eat all plants. I would do a salsa garden for sure along with herbs. I don't get to plant untill after Mother's day, I'm just outside of Detroit. So even though it's been nice the last few days it still gets to cold at night.
I live in Arkansas I love all peppers I make pico a lot tomatoes and cucumbers I am trying radishes I always do herbs I live on a golf course so not much yard so I have those moveable planters on my deck
It is one of my most favorite things when you talk to the animals! I always smile and crack up because l do the same ! ❤
Central Ohio! I love your channel and how beautifully you put everything together! I have put out tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, brussels, squash and cucumbers and just saying a prayer it doesn’t get cold! My cats were eating everything in my indoor greenhouse, so I needed to plant early! So happy for the sunshine and being in the garden 👩🏻🌾
A pretty blue umbrella seems more Lauren to me lol I don’t know why. Awesome job girl
Totally agree! I was trying to go "garden natural!" But I really wanted white with scalloped edges!
Hey Lauren! What nails are you using now and what is your routine with them? Your hands always look so nice with all the house work and cooking you do!
Long time viewer here! Thank you for all of your hard work and getting so many videos up. My life is chaos right now and you, somehow, are keeping me sane! ❤
I love watching your content for awsome ideas
I always enjoy watching you garden, we do not have a garden but I grew up with my dad and mom having a large garden and our summers were spent freezing vegetables. I like your idea of a garden better. I also, enjoy watching you and your chickens. Love the new garden beds and the quaint sitting area you’ve created. I still don’t know how in the world you do it all Lauren. 😊❤😊🪻🪴🌻🍃🐔
Thank you! I has been one of my favorite parts of this home.
Wow Lauren you really did do a lot of work in your garden, and fingers crossed for you that everything grows wonderful. The new little seating area you've put there is lovely and I really like that brown umbrella, I think it's a really nice shade. Oh and before I forget, have you ever thought about designating an area for the chickens to bird bath in, and building them their own muck bath, so they leave your area's alone, I think that's something I would do. I'm hooked on watching your videos now, I feel like I'm really getting to know you all a little. Anyway see you all later. So jealous of your lovely Sunshine. 🥰🇬🇧🐾🐾💖
The garden is going to look beautiful. Love the new furniture and watching the chickens especially them sand bathing😊
Hi Lauren,
The garden looks great! My favorite herb is Basil! I'm hoping to grow just tomatoes.
Thank you!!! I love basil too!!
I live in Riverside, Ca. We planted our small garden about 3 wks ago. I most excited for tomatoes.
Hi, we live in Fishers Indiana, we have 4 seasons, I started plants from seeds weeks before Spring, some did ok but I love going to the Nursery and seeing the plants and figuring out what colors look good together. I love Butterfly bushes and Lantana and flowers that attract butterflies 🦋 and Pollinaters!! I love your table and chairs and umbrella, you can enjoy the beauty of your garden. I will do some tomatoes and peppers, my brother in law has a large garden and shares with us, which we appreciate!! Thank you for your videos, I love meal planning and recipes, decorating, you do such a great job!!!❤
Love your channel. Your garden looks so cozy. A retractable garden hose would be a fantastic addition in your already beautiful space. ❤
Great idea! I used to have one and it broke, I do miss it!
YOU are so creative I pray all that works for you so fun
You did a fantastic job on your gardening
I live in Northern Iowa… so I haven’t planted anything yet… its a very small garden and it’s usually tomatoes 🍅, assorted peppers 🌶️ 🫑, onions 🧅 ..last year I did 2 old wagons with chives..basil..thyme..oregano…sage…I wasn’t REAL good taking care of that🥺. My bad.😩
Happened to me too!! It can be hard, thats why I try to plant things I love so I will be more excited to take care of them.
Been dping lots yard work
Very beautiful garden.have a great day ❤
Thank you! You too!
Lauren, I have the Garden beds and love them. I can't wait to start my garden, but it is still too early here in the Northeast as we can still get frost for a few more days. One day it is 70 degrees and the next it is 40. You gave me some ideas for some new plants to try this year. Can't wait to see what you make with what grows in your garden.
Hi Lauren- I live in New Jersey so we don’t plant our garden till mid May at the earliest. I also have that little wagon and it is a the best little helper for hauling stuff around.
I like when you wear you slippers for gardening! Blessings, Kelly Jacksonville FL
Thank you for being here Kelly!!!
Love your Chickens!!!! so cute and the garden looks fabulous!
What a beautiful video!💗 I thoroughly enjoyed this, so sweet, inspiring, and want to look into beautifying our garden similar to yours!🥰
I live on Southeastern Pennsylvania and it's been really warn last few days. I planted tomatoes, peppers and a cucumber plant. I have my favorite herbs on our deck near the kitchen plus mint. I love mint
