I had one of these as a rental for a week while my Mercedes was in the shop getting some accident damage taken care of. Was really pleasantly surprised by the quality and how solid it felt- not like my Benz, but close. I'm not an SUV person so I'd never buy a Santa Fe but I would totally throw badge-snobbery aside and give Hyundai a look if I were in the market for a new car.
Have the 2.0t fwd for six months now and have taken it on a cross country trip! Very quiet, smooth, composed! The turbo is not an off the line dragster but will set you back once under way! Having owned VW's before we're very pleased so far!
Its nice to see Hyundai makes some great looking cars that really catches your eyes. Now, I wish Honda and Toyota would pay attention and kick their designs up, as they are very bland and boring. Very nice job Hyundai, im really impressed by all of your current models.
You know what I'm sick and tired of? People who continue to insist that Hyundai should be worth much less. Every car reviewer has said Hyundai provides a premium design and technology, for much less. The Santa Fe IS worth what it is. For fuck's sake, even the Ford Edge base price is $27k. And it is better than its competition. It has done better than the Ford Edge, Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Journey, etc.
I got a chance to test drive the Santa Fe Sport 2.0 and the Santa Fe V6. There was not a big difference in the steering and the handling. Both are surprisingly quick for their size. The smartest thing they did was to have two separate vehicles. The 5 passenger Santa Fe Sport competes with the Equinox/Terrain and Ford Edge. The 7 passenger Santa Fe competes with the Acadia/Traverse/Enclave and the Ford Explorer. It's just a matter of preference.
As a long time Honda customer I feel what you're saying. The last Honda that I bought was a '97 Prelude SH. They've been going down hill in the design department ever since. The new Hyundai designs are what I would think Honda should have done, very modern, energetic, and fresh. That's not to say Honda makes all duds. Their Jazz and Airstream (non-US) are pretty good. They just need to have those designers take over. Then maybe they'll become interesting again. Don't get me statted on Acura lol
yeah the cr-v is also lighter. and i meant to say ford edge but i spat out escape because it just came out. error on my part. even then the escape is more down to size. kias own sorrento drops more power and manages to be smaller on the exterior and have more interior volume. just saying. and its my opinion but when you test drive a car in the real word you get a sense for it. look how the engine bay is displayed. hows the steering, hondas are WAY more responsiv. & my 06 cr-v can get 30 HWY..
no not making assumptions.... test drove the explorer. own a pilot, owned an odyssey, being familiar with that powertrain for over 10 years of ownership the car is an ass hauler.. numbers mean nothing when the actual 0-60 times for something like a minivan are 7 seconds thats just great. tested the 13 cr-v, driven a 12 rav-4 and have been in/driven NUMEROUS old elantras and its the same damn characteristics. this car isnt exactly a speedwagon with that underpowered turbo... and a 3.3L? hm..
Escape doesn't have a V6... Eco-Boost 4 is the top engine, although it produces I believe 240bhp and an even better TQ number. Did you miss that there's a 2L turbo available on the Sport that offers 264bhp? THAT is MORE than enough get up and go. No disrespect, but I think you need to look at the Honda numbers... They don't offer a V6 in the CRV and the 4cyl offers 185bhp and a max of 31mpg on the 2wd version.
im not arguing with you because you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.rebuild a couple more hyundais.see where the money to make all those screens and padded dashboards came from. right out of the powertrain&suspension dynamics. my best friend's 2007 sedona is already done with a transmission, has had MORE then one alternator, needs belt work has had 3 batteries and 2 sets of rear tires, and the CEL and TPMS lights still will not work. AND the sunroof leaks. mileage? 30K. quality..
ah, tis be the glory of social networking websites. if i want i can rant and complain all the time. what do you think motivated me to comment? my love of the car? if i loved it i would say i loved it. in this case, i dont. take it or leave it whatever but i can rant all i want... theres a difference between people who KNOW cars and just 12 year olds defending mommies elantra.
Good looking inside and out. Drives ok. but this is overpriced. Feels a little heavy. Hyundai needs to get back to price point. $30k+ at dealers. Hyundai needs to drop the price by $5k
excuse me, doctor i cant mind my own god damn business, but this is not even "hyundais video" its a motorweek review. now lets see what the point of a youtube video is. watch the review, do some research, see the car in real life, test it, and you can COMMENT your thoughts of the video and whatever the hell is featured in it. therefore if i want i can hang around all day and "Waste" my time watching youtube videos. its a social networking site, much like facebook. therefore commenting is allowed
oh my friends 2012 does. for crap sakes its my opinion hyundai blows and get over it? they are cheaper to buy for a reason and only one car will be on the road in 10 years.2.0 turbo anemic. when the motors blown in 50K then dont cry about it,and like i really should listen to you. for christ sakes you bought a pontiac and that company isntaround for a REASON.so cut the crap and challenging anyone that knows a thing or two about cars. go ahead read some more paper numbers. go drive one and shutup

I'm crazy about the rear taillights. I just love them.
How is this guy looking the same since early 90s?
It's somewhat aggressive looking. I like it.

I have driven 2008 Kia Sedona for 4 years, but I have not had any problem at all.
My only complaint is some interior noise (wind and interior parts).

Hyundai and Kia went from crap boxes to Honda and Toyota rival alternative and now benchmark in just 5 - 7 years.
True and Korea itself went through the same thing.

How they achieved that 1:01? I mean what kind a lens they used in that shot?
wide lens*
I would prefer the 2007-2012 Santa Fe. Hoping to get one, or a Tucson or Veracruz
So when do we get the diesel version?

Is it just me or is the centre console and dashboard similar to the acura mdx
Design is great. the turbo is a need
thx
Sounds perfectly... adequate.
i think its just a mount on camera
Sport? I think a Prius has more "sporty" performance numbers.

Sounds like a typical modern Hyundai...looks good, but doesn't deliver anything exceptional under the skin.

enough with the CO2 nonsense!
This car would have looked way better if it didn't have that gray plastic moldings around it.
KOREA CAR!
