Tbh having a beach themed show (good idea) in the middle of winter and in Cleveland (not so good idea) is the most aew thing ever.
AEW has had a major issue since the beginning: OVERBOOKING. Everybody marked out, and deservedly so, the cutter off the ladder. But it wasn't the finish. People would remember forever if it were the finish to the match as opposed to it being another spot in a match filled with them. In AEW, what should be the finish, OFTEN ISN'T. So while people decry Brian Cage for "Getting his shit in", most of these matches are booked to get everybody's shit in.

Some matches have one or two too many things going on, so while its entertaining it gives no feeling, which maybe a earlier spot in the same match did.
That’s also why the hardcore AEW fans who love all the spotfest shit always criticize Punk and Bryan’s matches and say they’re too slow, they hate the time limit draws, etc. Their whole perception of wrestling has been spoiled by people doing 100 spots in 5 minutes.

I think a "normal rules" ladder match would be interesting. If you use the ladder as a weapon, you're disqualified. You have to disable your opponent with bare-bones wrestling to give you enough time to set up the ladder.

Even though I like your idea, It'll never work in today's wrestling. Why? It makes too much sense, they wouldn't get all their spots in, and it would look like they're trying to make it look like a legit sporting competition.
Shawn and Scott forever killed any chance of that happening. Everybody is obsessed with one-upping that match and EVERYTHING done in it.
And a slight smack with the ladder here an there would be okay.. like the one razor Michael's match..

I find it sad that most indie wrestlers look at Meltzer like he’s some god in the wrestling business. A guy who was never even in the business to begin with. He’s just a smark with a platform

The last 2-3 months of Dynamite have been dreadful. I guess Tony feels like these Indy outlaw jobbers need to earn the stupid salaries he's not only given them, but for some unknown reason just RENEWED them for. I actually thought this was Britt's worst promo in a while. It meandered and really didn't do anything or mean much.

I suspect either some woman will debut soon or they're waiting to sign a woman to come in to challenge Britt. I also hope Reba and Jaime Hayter 🍑 isnt away from her long term. Her with Cole does neither one of them any favors.
Yeah, I was hoping it would lead to someone challenging her for the belt, but it didn't go anywhere. Could've dropped it and nothing would have been lost.

@@davyjones2032 the women’s roster isn’t all that great to begin with and the start and stop pushes aren’t helping. ThunderRosa was hot for a while (and is face) but she’s not even been on tv since she lost in the tournament. Tay Conti looked like she may get the belt but she also hasn’t wrestled on tv in ages (also a face). Anna jay is no threat to anyone or anything. Riho is a joke. Ruby has a shot at doing something here but she disappeared off tv when she lost and then gets a rematch with Rose for some strange reason. I dunno. Deeb is fantastic and should be the one with a belt. But she’s a heel. It feels an awful like they’ve booked themselves into a corner again with the women’s division and it has no clear direction. The rest of the roster is atrocious.

I'm sad that this will mean Cornette won't enjoy Danhausen anymore.
Past month - month½ has been really iffy. So much so, I've skipped 2 or 3 Rampages
The next company to come along with a less is more approach will actually do well.

Every single time I see the crazy Tony pic, I just imagine him popping out and yelling YNAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
They should have ended the show with the MJF/Punk angle... It did go a little long, and sitting on the chest at the end was a little awkward and unnecessary, but there was good heat and a hook to pull people in for next week. Having another hour of TV afterwards killed all the intensity and anticipation.
That ladder match was a waste of my time.

Why is Hangman putting his title on the line against the big jobber Archer? The last time we saw him he knocked himself out and has been losing every single feud. The best part was when Hangman visually crapped himself when he was told it would be a Texas Deathmatch, why is Archer choosing the stip?

Has anyone fallen as far as quickly as Adam Cole? You would think that Tony would book him and ReDragon strongly so the coming feud with Omega and the Bucks could mean something but he loses to Orange and couldn't get out of the hug.

We are only in genuary, there is no end to bad shit, and I say this watching 4 AEW shows a week. The only things I'd save of the last dynamite are Hangman in that package promo(I find Archer really uncharismatic, how can a nihilistic moster be so boring?), Samy's cutter(but the 630 was way too much) and the looks of Hobs(he shoud break Martin's back, write him off TV so he can train his tempo, his expressions and his striking, and be pushed to the moon). Everithing else was really hard to watch without getting mad

I kinda don't remember last weeks Dynamite. Thanks Jim. I'm getting a refresh of what I watched. WWE does some unmemorable stuff, but AEW continues to do unmemorable shit.
WWE is borderline unwatchable aew atleast has some good stuff Jim even agrees with that and he hates everything. WWE has gotten so bad it's tough to watch at all I'm dumb enough to keep watching hoping it improved but after the royal rumble it might be time to be done

And there is one of Cornette's mistakes that he never seems to learn from. He assumes everyone else saves their money like he does.
Adam Cole went from feuding with Michael Elgin, to Pockets. No one predicted that.
Orange Cassidy does look like a star with his sun glasses and his slow walk. When he has to take the spectacles off and wrestle. When he has to speak into a microphone, that's when the illusion dissipates. Cole was the star because of his promos and matches...unless you were of a certain orientation.
If the ladder breaks and you don't have a back up, you can just call it a no contest. I guess if you're out of dates on someone's contract, but...I listen to Alliance Guys too, Konnan and Disco, Voices of Wrestling, used to listen to the Brian And Vinny show. No one makes me think more about the logistics of wrestling more than Cornette!
People bury John Cena for not selling, and they should. He doesn't have the power of the Hulkamaniacs, he's not a zombie, he's not three hundred pound super heavyweight, or a Samoan bulldozer, but he's still six foot 240 pounds. Cody is five ten two fifteen, and Sammy Guevarra is smaller than that. Exactly why are they not selling?

My comment is off topic but I was randomly thinking about this I know jim doesn't like Penta but I have to disagree on his assessment of him. I believe the only reason Penta was doing flips and all that was because he was paired with Fenix his brother. Penta as a singles wrestler rarely does any of that and that's why I liked him. He is tough as nails and you will understand what I mean if you see his match with vampiro.

I loved that AEW was putting on a match that harkened back to Stampede Wrestling. It's one of the few gimmick matches I don't mind. I also love the 2 guys who were in the match. Sammy and Cody are great young wrestlers. Sadly, that's where my love ended. It was all downhill from there. My only concern with wrestling so close to the crowd is legality. If someone gets hurt who isn't part of the match, that's got lawsuits written all over it. It looks wild and crazy when 2 guys are fighting in the crowd, and some guys like Bret and Austin could do it really well, but I'm holding my breath the entire time, and not in a good way. I'm just waiting for a fan to end up with their head cracked open and paramedics becoming the centre of attention as some poor slob who paid $150 for a seat could have brain damage or worse. As long as you can do that stuff with safety precautions taken for the fans in attendance and the performers, great. But while I know you can work a piledriver so the guy's head isn't actually making contact with the mat, I don't know how you can work a match with fans almost on top of you. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

The ref in the ladder match wasn’t holding it, he moved it out the way for the scaffold spot. Sammy fell first after the ref moved the ladder
He definitely held it for several spots. Watch the match again. There was one point he held two of them together
When Sammy did the cutter off the ladder spot Paul Turner was holding one ladder and Aubrey was on the floor holding the other ladder 😂😂😂 why tf did this match need 2 refs anyway?

It’s sad hearing Jim and Brian eviscerate Cole because they don’t like Cassidy. Even sadder reading the Cornette marks parrot Jim. The people in the buildings like them both. They like Jericho too. That’s all that matters. I’m not as much of a fan of Indy gimmicks as much as more serious Danielson/Page type stuff, but at least you have a chance of seeing both when you watch AEW.
Tony Khan's booking over the past month has been bipolar as f*ck. Was doing well at one point but the show recently feels similar to the early years of AEW with just goofy stupid outlaw crap. Hope it gets back to where it was a few months back.
I'd only ever seen Adam Cole in NXT and thought he was great with the Undisputed Era but God damn, he's been an absolute joke since joining AEW and looks in awful shape since leaving NXT. I think he's stopped caring and is just happy working with his mates and getting paid a lot.

It's like aew can't pay their electric bill with all these "lights out matches" I've seen more of those in the last two years than I had the previous 30 years...it just becomes boring not special
I rather watch a 6 hour episode of the The View with only Whoopi Goldberg on it than watch one second of that clownshow AEW. And no matter how much stupid crap Whoopi says on those six hours, i will not lose any brain cells like I would watching a millisecond of that outlaw mudshow "wrestling" clownshow with a budget.

AEW Beach Break was better than any part of that 4 hour garbage fest they call Royal Rumble. Not only that Beach Break was on regular TV and RR was ppv and was 2 hours shorter. AEW isn't perfect but at this point it's far much better than the alternative at least there is professional wrestling happening because there is NONE NADDA ZIP in the wwe

I thought Cody and Sammy match, was Aew wrestling in a nutshell, it’s not going to be classic or traditional, someone going thru shit and some one close 3 count, wake me up , we got false finish number 10 , and so on and so on.
Cody and Sammy had a good match.
Red Velvet is hot but should stay away from matches for a bit. Kris Statlander is improved but it's crazy John Cena stopped her from chasing Leyla.
Promo heavy show but no biggie because MJF vs Punk was good. Tony Schiovane just waits for Excalibur to say a wrestler's name or move and he repeats it just louder. Him staying in ring with Britt and doing her DMD is sort of sad.
OC beating Cole wouldn't have been so bad if OC got crazy for a brief moment and speared or punched Cole off the platform. Instead OC his sloth routine while Cole acts like Miro has him in tight grip. Cole isn't "ruined" but definitely a fall from grace but the AEW foot soldiers become very understanding with anything AEW does so they don't care.
I have to disagree with Jim about the Steen/Generico Fight Without Honor, that match is amazing and paid off the story perfectly.

I disagree with Corny on the ref holding the ladder. First off, he compared wrestling to the UFC in his argument...not the same thing. One is a 100% real fight. We know wrestling is a work. And an impartial party like the ref wouldn't want either guy to get hurt in their matches. It's believable. And even if it isn't, I'd rather Sammy not have gotten hurt than my childhood Santa belief of "wrestling is real" being kept alive. Like I said. We already know it's a work so it doesn't matter. Jim it's not 1974 anymore. 🤦🏼♂️
