Adam Warlock - The Roy Thomas Era (1972)

- Today I take a look at Him's transformation into Adam Warlock. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby left us with HIM. Now Roy Thomas takes the reins and give us the iconic character - Adam Warlock. The High-Evolutionary has left Wundagore II with Sir Raam. The two of them are going to create a new Earth, a Counter-Earth but Man-Beast arrives and poison's the High-Evolutionary's plans. It then is up to Warlock to become the planets saviour and to destroy the Man-Beast. Along the way Adam Warlock picks up four teen disciples, Eddie, Ellie, Dave, and Jayce.

I used to have thor 134, marvel premiere 1&2 never any of the fantastic four , currently have thor 135 the ongoing power of warlock series from 1972 ,issue number 1. Roy Thomas took him ,no pun intended, to some pretty damn good heights. I can't say anything wrong about Gil Kane's wonderful ar. Lol t oh man he carried on Kirby and Lee creation. However, I do like Kirby a little more than Kane far as the art but, what can I say.. again thank you kindly for covering this arc.welcome back sir. 😎😎😎

The classics, I always liked the older era comics. Especial cosmic era marvel. The best era, and my influence in making a space opera/superhero novel series.

Roy Thomas's prose style. Absurdly self-reflexive monologues and over-written dialog. He was Stan Lee's top protege to be sure!

These older comics that involve space really highlight how new all of that was to most people when these were written.

That evolution of the High Evolutionary from the Cosmic Being from the Tales to Astonish/Hulk issue to this is the greatest mysteries of comics.
…then Roy Thomas solves it… decades ago.
If I'm not mistaken and it's possible that I am, Man Beast shows up next in an arc in the Spectacular Spider Man, in another flawed but almost good story. He's disguised as the Hate Monger, Flash Thompson's wife is his high priestess. This story is some weird stuff, I've always preferred the lighter, cornier stuff but you do make this material seem interesting.

High Evolutianary brushes with Doomvibes of arrogance and reliability. I like him very much, and haven't seen him incorporeal ever before. Pair Sinister and Apocalypse in and 616 would evolve as Doom requests.
At least it be more a Reece then Reed scale of vile threat. Before they tear apart as I see non of them aspire less then equality with Doom.
