I was about to say this already didn't age well. They don't have to stop and take a breather because they keep pouring in fresh troops. They take a day maybe to fatten up their bridghead and go west and north again.

A trooper in full combat uniform would be out of breath by the time he reaches the top of any hill. As Paul states, the terrain of a battle can make or break the attacking side.

Map was updated, looks like Russia is pushing out of Kremina, but it does look like the lines may be starting to stabilize, less movement than in past days. Given the lack of movement outside of this salient I suspect Russia is throwing everything at this one salient. I also heard a failyr big attack against Vuheldar was repelled. Russian rate of advance definitely slowed down. If this holds to the weekend then I suspect Ukraine is getting their supplies and this Russian offensive may be culiminating.
I wonder how many casualties Russians have suffered doing these crazy offensive attacks.

Also considering how fast the russian have gained ground this past month, they probably lost less men than the Ukrainians, otherwise it wouldn't make sense, that they are advancing at such a pace. usually the forces that are retreating, have higher chances of casualties, since they will be exposed while retreating. Because it typically happens under enemy fire and bombardment.

stop looking only at deepstate map. theres multiple other sources saying they r already at the doorsteps of Arkhangelske and already captured about 80% of keramik and have almost the fields surrounding it in the grey zone. the Ukrainians looks like they have consolidated but not well enough to stop the breakthrough. and the Russians r not spearheading more so it doesnt get overextended and just gets pummeled by ukrainain defences with an unproper logistic situation.

Ukrainian place names are easy, no vowel shift. Novo oleksandr ivka. Means New Alexander's place. Then one needs to know that with an English transcription, kh (stands for kyrillic x) is like ch in Scottish loch, zh (stands for kyrillic ж) like a french j, or the s in "usual".
Can you pronounce Leicester and Worcester? Those are not at all like one would expect.

Russia is following the same playbook Ukraine followed last year, the Soviet doctrine push along the entirety of the front line until you achieve a breakthrough and then exploit it. Russia is not using economy of force as a Western Democracy usually would and NATO suggested Ukraine do last year before Ukraine ignored NATO and pushed along the entire front line.
Russia has broken through the Ukrainian lines in a couple places (As did Ukraine last year). But the problem obviously is Russia's spread to thin to truly exploit any of it's breakthroughs. They allegedly sent 20,000 re-enforcements to the Avdiivka Direction which won't be enough to truly make serious gains.
Russia has till June, it takes on average 2-3 weeks for ammunition and vehicles to arrive on the front line after crossing the Polish border. F16's are expected to also arrive come June as are the first 300,000 shells from the Czech Republic.
So just as what happened with Ukraine last year, Ukraine will be able to halt Russia's advances with newly supplied ammunition/vehicles. Then Ukraine will be able to roll back those Russian advances.
The true decider of victory this year, will Russia continue to push it's army into a resupplied meat grinder? As the attacker they should have 3-5x as many forces as the defender. In Avdiivka Russia lost 7 soldiers to every Ukrainian. Resupplied Ukrainian troops will stabilize and hold the lines.
I expect Ukraine to kick off their next Counter Offensive this winter. I just truly hope Ukraine learned from their disastrous 2023 Counter Offensives and instead of following Soviet doctrine they use economy of force on Kherson Oblast. I think after blowing the Kersh Bridge that Kherson will be very feasible if Ukraine focuses entirely on that direction.

I would guess either autumn 2024 or late spring 2025 ...if Ukrainians have made it to then . As for ammo ...well in Odessa a huge amount of shells for artillery was blown today ...So long as Ukrainians keep using Odessa dnipropetrovsk and other places with huge pro russian or ethnic russian population ...russkies gonna know everything. If I have to bet I would say Ukrainians will not conduct a huge scale counteroffensive again ...They lack the will . I think the question that has to be asked is - "How does Russia win the war from here?"
Because they are no nearer that goal than they were at start of 2022.
And every month that goes past with Ukraine still fighting, is a month that Russia moves nearer the cliff edge of economic and social collapse.
Making a comparison with WW2 is always false if told by a pro-Russian.
In WW2 Germany didn't have the resources to sustain a long war - it needed to capture those from the Soviet Union.
The Soviet Union would have lost the war if not in 1941, but certainly 1942 if it hadn't received lend-lease from the West.
Worrying about how many German soldiers died compared to Soviet is a bit irrelevant - when the war was won or lost on resources.
The fact the Germans didn't get to capture and exploit the resources they needed, and that the Western allies had them in such abundance they could supply the Soviets as well as their own needs whilst the Soviets fought the Germans for control of the Soviet resources....

It comes back to this war - Russia has moved no closer to victory in the last 2 years, but continues to move further towards defeat mainly due to its pointless sacrifice of so many men and so much equipment. It can replace both for now, but there will be point where it can't do that anymore.
ISW opined that the reason this salient has stagnated, is that they are moving troops up to Chasiv Yar to try and secure the town before Putin's birthday and the May 9 celebration.

I'm sorry but these vlliage names are not that hard to pronounce. You just have to learn a few simple rules about slavic languages (Or just Ukranian or Russian) and you can proounce the places just fine 95% of the time. It's just lazy not to do it.
It is a period of regrouping but if you bring it up closer it is big it is kilometers by kilometers with heavy trenches. Hello, greetings from a country with the border with UA, the tragic truth is that WW1 aftermath like Treaty of Versailles, lead to rise of Nazis in Europe and to WW2, the meddling of America in Europe in WW2, will lead to WW3, if America wouldn't help allied powers in WW2, we wouldn't have a Gaza problem and a Russia like today. Western greed give China the power to act like its acting now. Don't take me wrong, i'm not anti-American, almost 40 and i had to relive the army basic boot camp like i did it when i was in my 20.
