- The “father” of the string quartet, Haydn is too often regarded as an opening act; pleasant music before the “meat” of the program. In Haydn Discovery, Geoff Nuttall and his St. Lawrence String Quartet colleagues will reveal Haydn’s genius by unpacking this masterpiece via “active listening." Recorded by Da Camera of Houston, September 27, 2014.

GEOFF you will be so missed T_T using this video to teach my students the piece today. your energy lives on in the next generation, thank you so much for everything
Absolutely amazing! This guy explains what I've been aware of for decades but other people don't seem to get. Thanks so much for posting this.
This should be a mandatory listen for all music students, whatever instrument or style of music they play. Thanks for that, Geoff!
this performance was mesmerizing in every way. loved it :)
Quintet por 2 violins, viola, cello and feet.
sextet - TWO feet
very interesting video with explain and speaking of Haydn
Stumbled upon this by "fluke" (that algorithm... hehe), and boy oh boy! LOVED IT! Excellent and inspiring vulgarization. Truly makes me want to do the same kind of thing in Haitian Creole to bring these genius composers' works to the less-fortunate.
any music appreciation brothas?
великолепно!!!!спасибо!привет из Беларуси!
This is a great video but I do wish the 1st Violinist would stop tapping his feet during performance.. its not the movement but the noise that is annoying, perhaps less clicky shoes would be in order! It's good he is really getting into the performance and rhythm.
Actual music starts at 9:30.
"sonata form in a nutshell"
Honey that foot tapping has got to go 😩
Tell that to Oscar Peterson.
